I'd use the new gear on my thm or cnj when soloing, the stats are quite nice. Unfortunately they aren't released yet =P
Some of you guys will just eat up any shit that SE produces with a smile, It's unbelievable.
Hard to get excited about new patch gear when I cant equip it without giving up all of my War Exclusive abilities/stat bonuses/entire AF set (no thanks), and garuda weapons look disappointing to boot.
I've been loving the progress on FFXIV lately but I feel like the items in this patch are entirely lackluster. I don't even want to work towards any of the new items.
What about how it doesn't make sense to have class specific gear.
That is the whole "never going use" part!
Why play whm when you can play CNJ without regen for soloing?
Why play pld/gla at all? (tis a joke)
THM over BLM is acceptable for soloing though.
This seems like a weird way to justify it to me. Meets and fulfills all types of needs for adventurers. You know, except those ones who like using their jobs. They have to be content with their AF or wait for different gear to be added.
So by meeting the needs of all adventurers you truly mean, slowly meeting the needs of each niche of players/classes/jobs at a time?
After all, for all of you players spouting about how foolish it is to solo on jobs and how grand it is that this gear is class specific, It's not as though allowing jobs to use the gear would make you any worse at soloing?
Dear SE,
Please 86 any form of Variety you wish to put in the game.
Your truely,
Butthurt Tarutar
Seriously though, how else do you expect them to differenciate between job and class if not by doing things like this. THe way you speak, I should level a class to 30, get a job, and put on my AF gear and never take it off again. Why even bother having classes then, right? Why not just throw classes and jobs together into one hodgepodge of a mess where the line is so blurred you can't tell where one ends and the other begins? Not only could we then have the devs waste time AND rescources, but then it would be even easier for them to not piss off people that have no desire for variety. I understand that it seems like theres no point to them doing this right now, but I am assuming they have a long term plan for the actions they are taking now, and that this sort of equipment is just a small part of that larger plan. Just an assumption though, you could be right, this could have been some nut jobs last minute idea that slipped under the radar and made its way into the game with no real intention behind it. Oh wait!, they already said that it takes them 6 months to design and put new equipment into the game. Pretty sure they know where they are going with this even though you may not. Nothing to do but wait and see I guess.
The way that you are talking about it, you make it sound like this new gear is so phenomenal that we will be sweating bullets trying to decide if we want to bring the WAR or the MRD to our next run. But it isn't, even if jobs could use it, many of the new pieces are comparable to already existing AF, so you really aren't adding any more variety because the gear just isnt THAT amazing that everyone is going to want to start rolling classes instead of jobs in situations where they wouldnt have anyways.
Also, I could be wrong but I thought the point of having classes and jobs was so that eventually each class could have multiple jobs to choose from? So yeah, It might seem like jobs are super superior right now but that's generally because they usually are, and this gear is likely not going to change that.
I wish they would just kill classes..... <_< in my dreams~
MRD seems to do a lot better solo/light party than WAR in my experience. More HP, access to CNJ spells. And on Ifrit, LNC and THM are MUCH more helpful to the party than their respective jobs. There will always be a place for classes. Maybe some people even prefer classes over jobs. The new class weapons will be used. Just because YOUR opinion is that classes are trash and shouldn't be played doesn't mean you have the right to come onto the forums and act your views count as everyone's and shut down people who say otherwise.
If the devs come up with something you don't like then you can have your opinion, but let the rest of us play the game how we want.
Why does the Archer in the video get to wear Darklight Set then? that's cheating!
Yall retards if you think Classes aren't useful or Jobs are OP. Probably the same people that full-time AF and think they are geared properly.
Like I stated earlier. Its not as though also allowing jobs to equip the gear would make players who prefer playing as classes unable to do so. I don't think that it should be only usable by jobs, but rather be usable by both jobs and classes.
In reality I feel as though anything equipable by a class should automatically be equipable by its corresponding job. You would think gear compatibility would transfer just as all the classes base skills do. But I guess that's just me.
Again, the jobs and classes are geared for different type of play stiles and in most cases, different type of play stile would require a better distribution of stats. We are restricted on how many times we can re-spec stats, so the dev team introduces gear that solves that issue.
i dont understand why people whine and cry about content. if you dont like it or feel like its useless, dont use it. simple. they are trying to expand this game horizontally with this patch to appease different players and playstyles.
im glad garuda weapons aren't a full upgrade over mog/ifrit. it sucks to work ur ass off getting mog/ifrit weapon only for it to be obsolete in 3 months.
i am not against giving players options or content. any content is good regardless of how useless you think it is
So if i read this correctly, the epic bow on http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...d32d2c56fc6f7a
is arc only, and i wont be able to wear my sexy bard af with it... hmm nice bow no outfit screw that.
You all forgot one thing: AF Weapons that are craftable, supposedly delayed in 1.22 to some a/b/c/d/e/f/g patch. I bet that these stuff are the foundations required to upgrade into AF weapons.
Even if they don't upgrade to AF weapons, they could be a good balance to the AF weapons. (Meaning you'd have a Bard only Af weapon or an Archer only Darksteel weapon).
Also: (not directed at whom I quoted)
I like soloing as my CNJ. A solid, CNJ-only weapon would be a nice thing to have. I can see why some other classes weapons have 'less-use' but eh, not every new weapon/item is gonna be BiS all the time. If you don't like the Darksteel weapons, you don't have to craft/use them. For soloing, they seem like nice weapons to have...esp if you don't have Primal weapons for those classes yet.
Never said anything about the new gear being Phenom, only that I understand that there is more here in play than just what we have been given in this patch. Whether or not the Class and Job system will be successful as this game moves forward has yet to be determined. What is certain though, at least for the time being, is that they HAVE chosen to keep both in the game and in doing so, will need to develope both in some way. The gear in question is but a small step to what I am sure is a larger goal. I don't honestly think there is any gear in the game right now that makes me feel as cool wearing it as the AF gear does, yet some of these new pieces look like some sweet alternatives for when I am just out and about as my class playing Solo or with another player doing leves.
Look at it this way: Right now you have Gladiators and Paladins. I feel like the Paladin job, when you look at it in its full AF splendor, speaks for itself. When you see Paladin you say to yourself, there is a defender of the weak, a knight, someone that specializes in protection. However, when you look at a Gladiator, at least at this point in the game, you sort of just see a run of the mill soldier. If they were to start developing gear that was Gladiator only that wasn't artifact gear, but fleshed out the class a bit more as soldier, nothing would make me happier. I would love to see them develope Gladiator gear that looks like the equipment worn by Roman Gladiators (fully enclosed helms, subligars, shields made a little more for offense that perhaps add more damage to shield bash) these things could could then set the class further apart from the job. Then, when you see the 2 standing side by side, you could more easily distinguish one from the other in both style and Role. One would look dangerous, and the other would look knightly. I am at least willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and see where they are going with this before condemning it altogether. One thing I can definitly agree with you on though Skeleton is that a sword is a sword, I fail to see how a Paladin would be unable to wield a sword that is essentially the same thing he (or she) uses now. Now if they started making blades that looked wicked or poisoned or something that goes against a Paladins code of ethics, I could totally get down with that. We shall see.
there is so many items per level and class i get confused to buy stuff they need to remove some
You do realise there are players who DON'T have AF, much less avatar drop weapons, and probably never will because they dislike the content XIV has which makes it available?
People like me, whose only other option is crafted gear? So I'm glad to see SE is thinking about players like me as well as those fixated on glowy phat lewt.
1. Not to be harsh but I don't think you fully understand that loot vs crafting isn't the argument going on here
2. Saying you don't have AF or primal gear at your lvl is one thing but saying you will never get them because you dislike the content? You dislike good story and epic battles or something? (Might wanna quit now before it gets worse for ya)
3. Making these endgame crafted gear will be harder then most DoW/DoM endgame stuff imo, if I had a crafting job that could make them I wouldn't dream of selling them with the hard earned materials and pain staking work going into them being worth more then the amount that most will be willing to pay for them. I would wear them around till I had to switch to do my actual job though ><;; (White Heavy Darksteel FTW)
Don't read anyone the letters?
These new recipes are high-difficulty synthesis recipes.
And now we look in the letter XXVI
Quote:
1.22
-NEW- High-level recipes
-NEW- Addition of class-exclusive high-level recipes
* Planned to be highly challenging synthesis.
From a logical and practical point of view, I believe that it can make sense in a way that there are 'class'-unique gear. For example, take a Lancer.
A DRG focuses on pure DPS, subjecting their gear and weapons to achieve that particular purpose. That involves having gear attuned towards damage, accuracy, and items that are least able to attract attention. Hence, the job-unique gear. That's the practical side. In a logical manner, that means that the DRG itself has no affiliation with all the other processes of maintaining HP, supporting others, giving a rest to other members of the party. There is zero compatibility with magic as a DRG.
A LNC, however, is subject to a much larger variety of ideals. At crucial times, they can step back to take a backline support role, giving an occasional hand to a supporter who may be struggling. Mayhap even take up a frontal position and gain the enemy's attention while the usual tanker recovers enough to take over the role. Thus, the gear must be subject to a lot more variants and manners which a DRG otherwise cannot use. One major difference is that a LNC CAN BE ATTUNED TOWARDS MAGIC.
The 'ki' running through each of them is different - having the wrong item in hand to channel such a 'ki' will not work as well as a specialised one for each. Take a real-life example; cutting meat in the kitchen. For normal pieces of meat, a medium sized knife will work. However, as you reach more intricate meats, such as eye fillet, or more bulky ones, such a leg, the blade must be different. The medium-sized knife may work on both, but not effective as a smaller, precise knife for the eye fillet, or a meat cleaver for the leg. However, can you use a smaller, precise knife on the leg, and cut it through, or a meat cleaver on the eye fillet, and produce decent dices of meat without destroying the muscle structure?
A DRG cannot use all the LNC can use in terms of abilities and the structure and ideals in combat. The other way around also happens. Why, then, must the DRG must be able to use all the LNC can wear in terms of traits and bonuses given, when a LNC cannot take up the specialised abilities as a DRG? The DRG is not an advanced step as a LNC - it is a specialization of the role a LNC was designed around. There is no reason why they must give the advantage towards the DRG when they are, in the end, two separate entities, and entitled to their unique purposes and outfittings.
How dare you try to make rational sense of such a trivial issue!? No but seriously I agree with everything you just said. It's as if people have forgotten that jobs are essentially PIDGEONHOLED into certain roles whereas classes are all about versatility, and thus require versatile weapons in addition to having stuff that makes them stand out.
Me thinks all this is is a bunch of people just jealous of the cool-looking stuff(especially the bricks) that for some reason they think they're missing out on. I can't wait to see this blow over once job-specific weapons are released.
I cant wait till job exclusive weapons come out and this forum pops up again with all the same BS about jobs lol I love how everyone jumps up and down over a simple game sit back, shut up and wait. You will get your OMGWTFBBQ weapons for jobs soon so be patient.
I think it's humorous that people complained when they took parts out as now crafters have nothing to use for leveling; maybe that's why certain pieces are back? O.o
...completely missing the point. Why is SE making inv overload when they plan to scale our inv back to 100 slots in the future. I can deal with multi step recipes.. really, that's not the issue. why are there a million different materia. Why do materia come in 4 grades then 4 quality's, do we really need an int 13 and 14 materia, you wont even notice the difference when used. And for class only gear, its pointless, sure plenty of people will be like "oh, ill use it... derp" but couldn't you have made it non restricted so class/job can both use it. The decision making process involving flooding our inv with new junk is astounding, yay, now I have to store class gear and job gear, that doesn't even close to make sense.
I like the fact that crafters get content, but I don't really understand the restrictions. People wanted more restrictions, so here you go, you got what you asked for.
As for the multi-step process, what's wrong with that? It's fair to make high-end crafting involve multiple steps. This is in no way as grueling as Dodore Doublet ever was, so it's not like it's as challenging as it could be (and someday might be).
I think the issue here (for me personally) is the fact that these weapons really don't have much value. It would be nice if they could make crafters involved in other areas of endgame (i.e., making job gear and weapons) rather than just making gear for classes which no one will ever really have much need nor desire for, except to AFK in town with weapon unsheathed.
