How Do You Usually Greet People in DF/PF?

I usually just say a simple "hi" or nothing at all if lazy. However, I am noticing more and more people are using that dwarven greeting from the new expansion and I don't know why it is catching on.

I guess some trends just get very popular even if it doesn't make sense to me.

Aside from already being great alone, "Lali-ho" and "Rally-ho" are traditional dwarven greetings in other Final Fantasies too, especially Final Fantasies 4 and 9. It's another big reference along with being a fun emote.

the most time i greet with ,,o/'' but if im in a good mood there can be a ,,elooooo!'' or ,,heyho!'' too :D and in the end of the dungeon/raid there must be a ,,gg''. Lately im the only one greeting if i run dungeons and raids with randoms.. #hellodarknessmyoldfriend

Mostly I type "Hi!" Or "Welcome!" Helps bring that warm friendly attitude to the people that join

I give them a lali ho welcome.

A simple "greetings" is enough for me.

silence and sometime a "yo"

I have a macro for greeting and leaving a dungeon ... since people zip off faster than my husband's jeans at night .... bazinga!

I don't really chat to strangers unless I really have to these days. Not since the adjustments to the terms of service. I'm always polite though I'm also well aware that there is no small number of players just waiting for the opportunity to take something out of context and file a report. There's also the matter of tone policing, which is a common issue with elements of the FF14 community.

It varies. Sometimes I'll say Hello. Sometimes it's a o/ or o7.

This is gonna sound weird but for some reason I don't want to duplicate a greeting?
So mine usually goes off a priority system of greetings I tend to favor which haven't been used by other party members yet.

Something like:
hey
heya
yo
hi
hello

I'll never use o/ though.
I don't know why it just doesn't sit well with me.

I'm actually the same way. Though if I'm feeling lazy or simply ran out of other things to say I will just type "o/" because why not.

I usually don't say anything unless I'm tanking, in which case I say "Apologies in advance."

Good Evening! With auto translate because I play without keyboard. And then they usually replied with Good Morning cause they're on the other side of the world.

Even if the party is all E, I usually end up using the Japanese out of habit (lived in JP for 10 years now). If i happen to notice it's all English, I might say "{Hello!} But most players on Japanese servers are used to Japanese greetings.

standard: o/
standard with a good mood: yo!
happy standard: \o/
bored: hi
bored but not too much: hi! (alternative: hi^)
not a good day: multiple Peloton activations
enter Dun Scaith: Oo

I say nothing.

Not a greeting, but if I'm stuck on the pad in LotA as melee I just do /pushups.

Never have, never will, and it will never be a problem.

Something like this maybe.

/p {Hello!} {healer} {Ready!} {Let's do it!}

Note: You can use auto-translate itself right in your macro. Start typing and hit tab just like normal. This is very useful for skill names too, so you don't have to worry about spelling beyond the first couple of letters. Make sure to include /p at the start of the line too, or it will just go to whichever chat you have set as your active one at the moment which probably isn't your party chat.

If someone else says something, I scramble to get into the right chat mode (party), then begin to type, but have to clear it and catch up with everyone because they've moved on.

I don't say anything. I have 588 days of playtime and have done over 5,000 raids and trials with who knows how many regular dungeon runs. I genuinely cannot be bothered anymore.

I've actually had people threaten to kick me for not greeting them later on in the dungeon, too. I'm almost always the highest DPS (when on DPS) in the party and play every job and role very well, so it was pretty bizarre when it happened with nothing going wrong. Some people seem to think something is wrong with a person that doesn't say hello at the start.

A hi, hello, or some other greeting would suffice. Putting in a little effort to greet your party members and make them feel welcome to the team wouldn't hurt much you know.

"Howdy", "Whassup?" And/or /laliho depending on my mood.

It's just a /laliho from me these days.
