I'm figuring Levi Primal Fight for 1.23.. seeing they didn't reveal much for 1.23, and Levi is in the PDF's so.. I'm assume it will be in 1.23! :P
I get to smack garuda's butt with pgl?:o
A fight where you can roll all range and not take any dmg is not fine lol. Granted the community sucks, and fights are easy to win with melees, but the fact is that melees are punished and ranged dd's are not. A lot of battles should be reworked to punish melees *and* ranged, otherwise community won't learn from its own stupidity.
Get CON THM MRD ARC to 50 and Game Over.
Normal fight Melee's are just fine.. its these stupid speed runs that people only bring in ranged for. Speed runs are killing my enthusiasm for the game. Best gear only from speed runs...
As much as I am fighting back the urge to say this. If you do a knee jerk and give melee an advantage over ranged... you are just in the wrong as when giving ranged an advantage.
Advice:
Balance ranged and melee, so the benefits of being melee balance the benefits of fighting at a distance.
only morons would throw 6 archers at Misser or Chimera. MNKS DO 4xs the dmg and can still not take any dmg. if they are they are either stupid/skill-less or the tank just plain sucks and cant hold hate/position well. On the otherhand the TIMED CHESTs need to go its not good for Linkshell relations lol.
Well, going by the concept timeline and what not, 1.23 should have the White Raven battle. While a Leviathan and Titan battle would be cool indeed.
Would like to hear more about the Wandering Primal / Odin idea though.
I don't know what to say. I just got all melle classes to 50, and I noticed a love for them from the devs. Meanwhile mages, which I like to play more often since the game inception, became a rollercoaster. I just wish the devs to settle down with mages, because while melee keeps getting better and better, mages are starting to piss the hella out of me. Being knocked down , disturb, have more than 8 monsters hitting you, disturb, walking and casting, disturb... And so on. I just hope that mages get some love at some point forward..
Maybe it's not so much the Jobs that need adjustments (although they will continue to tweak them) but rather it is the Bosses and NMs that need to be more dynamic so that a party needs to be balanced to be successful.
For example: Imagine a Morbol with it's multiple tentacles.
Party needs:
1 Tank to keep the Boss under control (cuz it would 1-shot mages)
1 Healer to keep everyone alive (esp the tank)
1 Archer & 1 Nuker to disable the melee arms of the Morbol (which are attacking the tank).
2-3 DDs to disable the Ranged-attack Arms of the Morbol (which are attacking the nuker, archer and healer).
1-2 additional jobs/classes to take care of the "trash mobs" that spawn/respawn and/or extra heals.
I have not fought the Chimera yet but I thought it was gonna be something like this:
1 head controls the enmity ( the tank focuses on this head)
2nd head casts enfeebling magic on the tank/enmity holder (nukers/archers focus on this head)
3rd head casts/shoots ranged attacks on the nukers/archers/healers ( DDs focus on this head)
Chimeras Tail melee attacks/enfeebles the DD's/tank (extra DD's or extra tank focus on the tail).
I realize it's a a formula that could get stale but there would still be room for Unique Boss Traits/Spells that parties need to strategize against. I just like the idea of Multi-Part Bosses that need to be taken out in stages.
Well, they could also start introducing party bonuses for having certain types of class/jobs in a party at the same time, a party wide buff. And, similiarly, a debuff of some nature when stacking more than say, 3 of one kind of class/job.
Now, that said, I could see in the future that becoming a problem. Like for instance when/if they ever include a syncronized spell, like they're doing in XI for Meteor..
And of course there's going to be the naysayers that say they're being forced to play a certain way, blah blah blah.
I'm so glad you have all the time in the world to cater to DoW/DoM. How about giving their tools, errr, I mean DoH/DoL players some love too. How many months will it take for you to give a one sentence response to alchemists? Really now...
I'm really sorry to hijack the thread, but enough is enough already... (please see http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-shard-revamps and pass our concerns on to the devs too).
One word, incapacitations.
Make fights actually require them and make them part of the battle regimen system when they put it back in. If they planned it well, it could require certain class combinations and get rid of this stupid class stacking. Maybe you need a monk and an archer for the incap, or a drg and blm, or a mnk and drg... the point is if they made it require a combination of two jobs to incap a boss and that incap was actually beneficial, we would be forced to stop class stacking.
P.S.
They would have to make each incap obtainable with more than one class combination otherwise it would completely take away from the players choice of what classes to bring.
These delays ARE NOT about server location... its about server/client structure.. even japanese guys experience these delays..
i have played tons of games on korean servers... even with an action aiming combat like in TERA and didnt have these problems and delays like in FFXIV/FF11. (even when just selling items!)
why do you think SE speaks in 2.0. about better server and client structures heh?!
Yes, the greater problem is server structures, but imagine when this got solved, jp ppl maybe will have 50 ms of latency and EU players 200-300 in the better of the cases... SO if they have pvp and fast encounters in mind, we NEED regional server too.
Imagine pvp against a jp players... (and i'm not a pvp player) .. Or fight similiar to ifrit where jp are better than eu/usa ..
And lastly... a major SH like SE can't manage regional server, that even free2play can ? Uh? :/
Two things. For one, there aren't many games that are international enough to warrant multiple regional servers across the globe. Centralizing servers also has its advantages (like maintaining/upgrading servers). And second, free to play is, like many others have pointed out before, is not always 'free'. They too are running a business, after all.
Just wanted to point that out. Carry on.
To the OP:
You want an answer from a dev to reassure the game is now fun? Thats like asking a salesman if their product is good. Of course it is to them, geez where do people come up with this stuff
Will you be making adjustments to the current fights to make them more melee friendly? While you can melee, and actually better to melee Chimera, some still look at it as inconvenient due to the conditions melee have to endure while fighting Chimera. Also, really hard to knock that tail off. I think he is hard enough without the conditions melee have to face.
That's what i mean... and the difference will be more clear with new servers system.. JP will have very low latency, while EU players will suffer at least 200-300 (being positive eh) ms of of latency .. wich is a LOT if they really have in mind PVP and faster encounter! JP players will have a lot of advantages in this way.
I wanted to be assured for 2.0, i really don't care too much the current game... The greater problem of the actual battle system is that almost every battle is too much melee unfriendly, and off course too much static encounter (IMHO) ... Rukkirii answered to those 2 aspects that worried me, so i'm ok for now :P (hoping in action lock fix and regional server btw ;))
Giving the melees an advantage in one fight, while the ranged keep advantages in all other fights... yeah that would totally suck.
I actually prefer this type of variety if that's what they're doing. You want JOB X for one fight, JOBS Y and Z for another, and JOBS J and K for another. Of course, every fight will be beatable with all jobs, but each fight's optimal DD job being different just seems like an interesting idea.
It would be very easy to fix diversity in a fight, make it so you have to incap certain parts in order to win. Not this you can deal without and eat the dmg. Make it a 9999 dmg ability like a full map "Tornado" if you don't incap garuda's wings. This forces you to bring certain mele classes.
Then everyone can QQ "waaa I dont' have a MNK to incap the tail how is our group going to kill it"!!!!
Thing is, people shouldn't be forced to be diverse, they should be influenced. I want it so people can come up with their own strategies, rather it be a Manaburn party of a diverse party. The keyword is "influenced", not "forced".
I think people should be judged on how well geared they are, not what job they are on. Other MMO's were able to grasp this concept, even though there are some balance issues in those games also, I don't know why FFXIV can't figure it out.
Theres the salesman selling you stuff again lmao. Keep in mind he did say
That doesn't mean nothing, its not concrete it just says he let them know. Not a single dev came on here to verify. many things can change between now and then to what you think he "promised/answered"..Quote:
I made sure to let the dev. team know that you're wanting new and dynamic encounters!
I got a '64 pinto that gets 200mpg ill sell it to ya for $5 (great deal)
Anything, can change from now to 2.0, however Why would they come here, waist there breathe, when they are "planning" to make Battles more Dynamic and fun to play?
What I quoted in Red, The Dynamic Gameplay is really, already being set into motion! and after 1.23 any feedback you have after 1.23, will be investigated to see if that will help the games Dynamic gameplay.Quote:
Hello everyone!
We understand your concerns with melee classes being left out because they are having a difficult time on some of the encounters that we have introduced because of the damage they receive compared to ranged classes.
We let the dev. team know your feedback so they will be making balance adjustments to allow melee classes to have a larger role in upcoming battle content such as the Garuda fight in patch 1.22 and what’s in store for patch 1.23. (While I can't give away any details about future battles just yet, I made sure to let the dev. team know that you're wanting new and dynamic encounters! )
Once the above adjustments are implemented and you have tried out the changes, we would love to hear your feedback about the current battles that have stirred up your concerns for the melee classes so we can look into these changes going forward.
Read Between the lines....
I can't wait to see the live letter that talks about 2.0, it should come before the e3 right :3 ?
i know what you trying to say but you know something no matter how hard you try to make other play ffxiv and join your fun time, it might not happen. Sometime you gotta drop the ball and join them.
