I don't think 40 has enough firepower. Maybe a 44 to get the level differrence boost in damage and to sustain farr less damage.

I just found myself in this same predicament. Naturally, as most other noobs did, I went in solo and got my butt handed to me on a silver platter (Paladin quest). Unfortunately, it seems that according to OP and other people, even trying this with the recommended group will still likely end in failure. I can understand making the game a challenge, hell I embrace it. But having to level up well past the quest's requirements just to complete it is a little absurd in my opinion.
In the end I decided to try my luck finding help in town. Wasted an hour of my life shouting in Ul'dah for help without even a single response. This has been voiced in other threads I've read, but this game seems rather unforgiving towards new players. Aside from the somewhat steep learning curve (eg. game mechanics, etc) it appears incredibly difficult to find people to accompany/help you outside of a Linkshell.
Its amazing how many people just dont read....regardless:
Id love to be able to do my Job Quest as soon as i hit 30 with other lv30 people too. It would suck if it says "light party of lv 30+" and then actually isnt doable as a light party of lv 30 and i have to get high level help. -.-
I understand that they dont want to make it too easy for the peeps with lv 50 jobs but whats with new players who doesnt want to get pulled through everything? :/
I dont want to be pulled through and have that 100% save fight. I want to actually feel like i realy acomplished the Job Quest together with my Party not "ey that high level let it live a little so i can feel great and hit it once or twice too!". D:
I absolutely hate getting pulled through any content, that feels like playing a single player with god mode on all the time. For me that totaly destroys the purpose of playing.
no idea where those interview are, but yoshi said several times he wanted something really hard for the quests and he didn't want progession to be as easy as leveling up a job.
tbh I was a bit disappointed when doing war's as war 50, but it all makes sense now. And now that I think about it, it wasn't even all that easy to solo as war 50.
Ill hope i find enough suicidal lv 30 people to try it. Its fine if its realy hard just the quest should state so not pretend to be "light party recommended". :3
He may have, but if that is conflicting with what is actually printed in the patch notes don't you think that is confusing to new people? Just like how saying that a quest is intended for a lvl 30 light party but only manageable for a group 35+? Nobody is saying things should be easier, but clearer. I have no problem trying to get a group together for these quests (and considering PLD is currently my first and only capped job, I didn't have much of a choice) but it would be nice if the descriptions weren't playing practical jokes on us.
