think of it as a Veteran reward where you get rewarded for investing a lot of time in the game. Idk why people are really upset about this.

If this had been a thing three years ago, I'd have the sort of response that goes something like "No problem, I can have it done in a month or two at the most."
Ahah... That's when I was unemployed and had no other responsibilities in life. As it stands right now, this is a mount I'll never have. It's simply impossible for me. I've always loved unlocking things in video-games, but I've gotten used to the idea that I'll never be able to get everything. Still, it feels like a low-blow to have a simple Amaro locked behind such a grind.
It almost is enough to make me go cynical and assume they did this with the intent of selling more level skip potions...
No, those are easy in comparison.
It might just be a psychological thing, but investing time into learning and completing tough fights (and getting gear for them) is far more rewarding for someone like me than simply leveling everything.
It's enough of a grind for me having to level two crafters and a gatherer, on top of the typical one healer/dps/tank.
I know I'm whining, but hey, that's my feedback. I'm as entitled to it as people who are happy with this sort of lock.
i dont see it as whining, i actually agree to a lot of that. leveling is certainly boring, but i knowing that just means I'm going to casually get it done overtime so I dont melt my brain doing mindless content. Even getting 3 weapons in eureka done and completing BA, I had to take breaks. I also dont level crafting/gathering so I have some more free time. Its definitely a huge stretch goal to get this mount, but its 1000x better than the mentor roulette mount, imo.
They should put the requirements down to 1 healer, 1 tank and 1 dps job.
This sounds absolutely ridiculous to get all jobs to lvl 80. Idk if am i more upset for the mount itself or the standards being lowered like it is happening with other big company games as well. SB got us a free mount, why not ShB? Stop milking FFXIV dry for other useless games SE,like FFXV nobody plays that garbage anymore.
The problem is the mount requires you to level jobs that you do not like. The extreme mounts you can run those instances as any job you prefer.
It is just one mount and I am sure I will eventually get it, but I can see peoples frustration, especially for a mount we thought we would get for free with the MSQ
From 70 to 80, sure, that's only 17 jobs, and two of those share exp so that's 160 levels to gain, at about 1 level a day on average it'll take you... six months of dedicate play.
If you weren't already capped, or your other jobs are much lower than 70, good luck.
I have 8 jobs at or around 70, a couple around 50, and the rest at 0.
I've just worked it out, and I have 554 levels to gain before I get the mount. Even if we discount everything under say level 30, I've still got 395 levels to gain. That's over a year.
For someone just starting the game, and starting the count at 30 for all jobs... 800 levels to gain. That's two and a half years, that's into 6.0
You highly overestimate leveling speed tbh. I leveled GNB from 60 to 70 in one day, and then few days for leveling until 80 with MSQ and I wasn't really fast. Right now, if you have one class at 80, all other jobs will have 100% exp bonus for 1-70 levels and 50% from 70 to 80. Plus rest bonus, pluc FC/Squadron bonus, plus additional items like earrings if your level is under 70. In fact, you will need about maybe week to level one job if your online is not very high. I'm quite sure we will see first Amaros less than in a month.
By 1 day, do you mean an entire day? Like, 18 hours or so?
Because a day of play for me is about 3 hours, and I can barely fit all my roulettes into that time, and I usually don't because I like to do things besides just roulettes.
It took me 7 days to get through the MSQ to 80, and that's with more than typical playtime.
I'm leveling my secondary jobs now, two to be specific, and I'm at 76 and 73 respectively after another 6 days.
So accounting for downtime, days where I don't play FFXIV at all, which will be many once I'm over the Shadowbringers hype, and accounting for days where I don't level at all, because I'm playing end-game content, 1 level per day is very realistic.
18 hours sounds about right with armory bonus from 60-70. To level the fastest, you do need to restrict what you do to just X/Y/Z. But to say you require an entire year to level all classes to 80, even with only 3 hours of play is absurd. 1 level should be around half that time without armory bonus if you spam the latest dungeon for two levels, not counting queue times. In theory, you could make it even faster if you only did Gyr Abania til 75, but that is horrifically boring aside from seeing how quick you can speedrun the dungeon thanks to the Aetheryte Earring.
As i said on the previous page. All jobs from 70 to 80 is 160 levels.
So at 1 level per day on average, that's six months.
For someone just starting the game, and starting the count at 30 for all jobs, 50 for two and 60 for another two... 740 levels to gain. That's two years, that's into 6.0
You can definitely get more than 1 level per day in three hours though is what I'm saying, but again, you do have to level in an efficient manner in order to accomplish that. If you did do it efficiently with three hours, assuming you get a level and a half. Still, some things should take work to get, and I believe this amount of work is fair since anyone can do it without camping at their cpu like with the hunt mount.
Efficiently level, consistently, for several months.
Any time to play endgame content?
That's why I say average it to 1 level per day. It might be possible to get 2 levels per day, but not consistently, while doing end game content as well.
Some things should take work to get sure. But this is a mundane, basic mount.
Four jobs to level 80 would suffice, have the requirements be "Complete all level 80 Role quests." would be fine.
This would even make sense in the lore. You're completing the story of the Warriors of Light from the First, and thereby unlocking their version of a Chocobo.
By all means having something to gain from leveling all jobs to 80, maybe just a title would be more fitting.
Good question tbh, because I didn't really count, but I think it was faster than 18 hours. I just spammed 21-30 HoH floor in fact. First job is normally the longest anyway because you still need get all dungeons and finish story.
From personal experience, when I started to level my jobs from to 60 to 70 in Stormblood, my online was about 3 hours as well or less, and with doing all roulettes and then spamming latest dungeon I was able to get from 1 to 3 levels per day. In the end it's mostly depends on what exactly you do when you are online. If you do your roulettes on max level class (for tomestones) and farm raids, leveling would be considerably low for many reasons, but when you are focused solely on leveling - the process goes quite fast. 1-2 years is really overestimating, if only you do not sit in raid all 3 hours all week.
Yes, that much is true, but I am only stating what can work with what we have now. Though I think anyone that works solely toward that with such limited playtime is doomed to burn out. I do keep up my sub though and play throughout years at a time, so I may just not have the same perspective.
I thought we'd get it in the msq like the mana cutter, nidhogg, yol and magitek reaper. When that didn't happen It hought maybe doing the four role questlines.
It's baffling to me that the standard mount for the First is tied behind such a grind ESPECIALLY with there not being a msq mount at all this time.
People are confusing the arguments. It's not about the achievement reward being a mount, it's the achievement reward being an Amaro. If there was going to be an achievement reward for this it should have been nicer. Generic amaro, not cool.
Yeah, the people who already have everything to 70 only have a mild grind to do to achieve this. I do not seriously level classes I have no interest in. I have an interest in having one max level tank, one max level healer, and actually only about two dps. I had several classes leveled to 70 before, but I leveled most of them during downtime. For example, once I got 70 with summoner and samurai I NEVER touched them again. For a new player they have to literally level everything from scratch, and are even worse off than me. Players who have a ton of alts can probably kiss it goodbye.
I'm sure there are people saying "be thankful", or something along those lines.
I dont remember Chocobos getting their own NPCs, side quests, and an Aetheryte. Personally, I dont see them as "basic" at all, considering their status on the First and the previous things I mentioned. That's just my opinion though, I really like the Amaros and really want this mount as well.
Have... have you not done the MSQ? Did you not get to Il Mheg and do the quests to unlock things there? oO;;; The entire lore around the Amaros is explained in detail there, which is why I, personally, hope the Amaro that we get at the end of this is a 'unique' one which I will not go further into detail about due to spoilers.
Yea I was surprised to see this as well. It definitely seems like an odd choice. I think it’s cool we get a mount for getting all dow & dom classes to 80 instead of a crown. But just not THAT mount
Then that's kind of the problem with why you don't understand how an Amaro might be unique and special reward. Complete Il Mheg and it will be better explained. I'm hoping they've done something unique with the reward we get using the information from there, personally. ;) Granted, I only have 3 of my classes to 80 so far... so I have a ways to go yet.
i think the pattern with Square is if they let you test ride a mount (which they did in one of the quests) it will eventually be an available mount. Idk if this hasnt been the case yet elsewhere in the game. So while I too want that 'unique' Amaro, I doubt it will be. :P
By 'unique' I don't mean it will 'look' unique. I mean there will be unique characteristics about it... taken from those in the Il Mheg area. Explaining further will be going into spoiler territory and I am very sensitive to that kind of thing this close after launch. Who knows? Perhaps I'm giving them more credit than they're due, but I want to hope. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Perhaps it will only be from the 'quest' we get giving us the mount... but I bet it will still be there. Hopefully.
Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that I read this thread I would be under the strong impression that:
Minor but cute side plot Spoiler Warning, if you finished the pixie area you know or skipped it
That we would get Seto as MSQ reward, since the whole warrior of darkness (Ardbert) connection. Our bond with Arbert connecting us to Seto, and him in a sense coming full circle (maybe even cutscene of Arbert patting Seto on the shoulder as we fly off). Also they kept talking about how much they love them hooomans, so I was like "eeeh eeeh I'm hooman, I know your master, let's gooooo!". But no, I guess not lol.
I was about to suggest this.. There needs to be a way to at least test ride the store mounts, to see if you like the way they fit your character, whether they cause any issues. (I returned a WoW store mount because it was huge, bright, constantly flapping, and nausea-inducing)
Ideally, ALL mounts should be testable, either for maybe 5 minutes on a weekly allowance, or at any time in an instanced environment.
Wait a few days after any mount goes up on the Mog Station, you should see plenty of people riding it to give you an idea.
Only thing I can't understand: what is, for the Twelve's sake, is not generic Amaro? They all look the same in the game except their size, so how in the world should look our Amaro to not be so? And why it should look different, if this is a lore-based mount? Make him talk? And how should it work? /rises eyebrow/
The point is that a 'generic Amaro' is the MSQ mount, it's what we're riding in the story, and it's tied to some major characters.
It's like the Magitek Reaper, the Manacutter, Midgardsormr, or the Yol... noticing a pattern?
I don't know what a 'non generic Amaro' would look like for the 'all jobs to 80' achievement, but it doesn't need to be an Amaro at all.
Maybe it could be Fae Bismarck or Pixie wings or something Ronkan or Amaurotian, and have the Amaro mount be obtained after completing all four role quests to level 80.
Has anyone gotten world first Amaro mount yet? Wanted to see what it looked like.
also other weird thing is that level 80 dark knight class quest should have given you the level 80 skill but no, you just learn it automatically when you reach level 80 (maybe other classes have similiar quests which clearly should teach you the last skill too).
