How about make teleports use mp

How i travel around world to complete my quests, is up to me :) you have the option of feet, chocobo, gobbue, and airships for exploration. Why do you want to restrict the way /i/ play, when you can easily change the way you play and be happy? ^-^
you title'd this in a confusing way. i'm thinking you mean to make teleporting free and at will and i'm sure some others who don't read think that as well. i also agree that we should be teleporting LESS, however, currently the zones are massive and have the ability to get monotonous. when they release their area revamps i'm sure they will add more immersion and i will support the lessening of anima but probably not the abolition as anima and teleporting is a feature this game was built on (the lore, kinda)
I say this in all the threads like this but...
I think we should have a system of entirely free teleports but only between the main camp crystals, then keep "return" in so we can get back to our current camp and keep the 15 min cooldown, with death being a free return. If we want to teleport out to the branching aetherythe crystals like Turning Leaf for moogle, we could just pay gil instead.
Pros of this system:
- Encourages exploration far more than current system.
- Still convenient enough to not have us waste time by walking everywhere.
- Never have to worry about running out of anima again. With the current system, zero anima basically means you're not going anywhere.
- Gets rid of "partying up and porting out", everyone can just port out to camp right away and meet there.
Cons of this system:
- If you're someone who doesn't play frequently, you'll be doing more running around than before.
*Feel free to add to this, I can't think of anything.*
I think that when 2.0 comes out and there are several areas, that each area should only have 1 aethryte to port to. It would be kind of like outpost warping from FFXI. They certainly shouldn't get rid of anima or self-teleporting all together though, I don't feel like having to pay a WHM 50k to teleport me 2 zones away from my destination.
I don't disagree with you but it's a flawed argument for an MMO. As party play is a big part of any MMO, people expect others to get to a destination the quickest way. Therefore someone who does not like to teleport because it takes away the traveling aspect is restricted to using a teleporting method, because no one wants to wait for a guy to jump on an airship and chocobo out when he can teleport right to where a dungeon / quest objective is located.
Anima doesn't need to be abolished, being able to teleport people to crystals they have not touched needs to be abolished.
I would love to see them change it so the most anima you can have at one time is like 20 or something. That way it is still in the game but you have to choose very wisely when to use it. Believe it or not, I am still actually all for only certain classes, (like whm :p) being able to teleport. I actually liked that system from XI, but I am sure that shocks exactly none of you
I think Anima is a good thing, just need to be responsible with it. It keeps the game going on longer so you dont feel like there is no content when you bypass everything in the world all the time and it pushes players to take a break from the game so you don't lose endless hours of the day.
keep anima and go back to the way 11 did it with you cant port if you havent been to the camp.thats all i want.
So I was trolling and saw this thread which made me want to check my anima. I'm at 90, damn, but I have a strong desire for a nap. Good luck though getting around, you anima users. I feel for ya. You do know we have 2 mounts and airships and a boat right?
The Reason behind my post is that I feel "In my opinion" ( not being selfish as some people call me :/) that Anima is Instant Gratification and ( I'm sorry I didn't mention this in my OP which lead to many confusions) is that If we "instead of Anima" Use a different form of Teleportation: EX: Teleport for WHMs etc) But of Course be something entirely different. Of Course we still want Teles.. hell even I do... but I feel the Anima tend is Overkill imho. Just something different is all I am saying.
As a beginner, I really like the idea of having anima, and using the teleport, etc. Saves me a lot of time, since I don't play all-day, only after work, maybe the weekends.
If anyone dislikes it, there is no need to use it. (First few posts already said this.)
A game is not only the environment, but the structure. Structure in games is about limit management, it's about intelligent handicapping. Intelligent game structure generates codes of behavior. Codified behavior creates coordinated activity and collective, coordinated, harmonic activity = Fun.
I just think the idea of teleportation or fast traveling is cool, but anima makes no sense. Just place some NPCs transport you for some gil or something like that. Or that Magitek Train xD
Best idea: teleportation as a spell for a class or job.. say.. WHM? Magic is the key. Just away with that anima debug tool.
2.0 will have smaller areas but more variety, I think they have to overthink it anyway.
You can make teleportation or quick travel an atmospheric thing. Thats all I want.
its fun to be herded like sheep instead of playing the way you personally enjoy?
thats fine and all if you like to be herded like sheep, but me?
i would rather play the way i personally enjoy - using anima (insta port) if I (or who i am grouped up with) is low on gametime and using my mount (time sink) if i (and who i am grouped up with) have plenty of gametime
is everyone going to enjoy playing the way I enjoy?
of course not
but would I demand other players stop playing the way they enjoy when I already have the means to be able to play the way I enjoy?
nope
how does the OP already have the means to be able to play the way they enjoy?
by never using anima while solo and only grouping up with players like themselves who prefer to never use anima, of course...
if the OP can find NO ONE to group up with that prefers to never use anima, well then, the wants of the many outweigh the wants of the few =P
I completely understand that. But there's always a majority, and there's always a minority. I hate to draw in comparison to FFXI, but shoes that would grant you just minimal enhancement in speed would cost millions upon millions and were some of the most commonly desired items. Travel and transportation are two completely different things.
Quite the contrary, I don't believe what I said was a flawed argument for an MMO considering the fact that in a party of 8, the 7 others aren't running on YOUR time. Which is why, you yourself also said "no one wants to wait..." taken slightly out of context but I believe the message is still there and very clear.
Only if within the same petition we can introduce stabbing ourselves in the eyes with pencils everytime we dare to use a chocobo to speed up travel. Hardcore onry!
Also I don't get the whm only travel argument. Why restrict teleporting to whms? It's just annoying and leads to crap like having to do all your traveling on one job, which becomes even more tedious and unneccessary seeing as we can change classes at the drop of a hat.
omg I know, I am gonna post in it too becuase I love them!
Guys , the reason you can teleport others to places they have never been? Ever play FFxi with a buddy who didn't have a crag and you wanted to party? Took him 2 hours to get snuck invis to the crag so you could THEN start what you actually wanted to do?
It also cuases players to want to form friendships or transactions fir teleports, and it just saves time...
Remove Anima but give WHM & BLM Teleport & Warp. Add some limitations to the teleporting spots.
if this patch proved anything is that they need to remove anima cost not teleporting. everyone has 0anima left and people are stuck running for 20mins runs every 20mins for cutsceens ...getting places is a pain in butt again. and it will only get worse if this game will keep putting in large amounts of content. and even worse for new players that start from scratch.
No! Don't take away my exploration of this copy pasta world!
Just going to repeat what I said in the other thread.
Quote:
Replace anima with a system that allows you to indefinitely teleport between Aetheryte crystals?
That way you can teleport as much as you want, but you need to be near a crystal or node to do so, providing a more balanced focus between the adventurous and immersive travel anti-anima people want, while still allowing people to teleport without having to worry about anima conversion.
whoa whoa whoa....
Keep your hands out of my anima!
..At least until there is an acceptable median (opening up all of those airship ports in BFE would be a nice start)
Anima is nice if you have just like 1 hour time to play.
It would suck if your short play time will be shortened by travelling.
So i guess you dont have to use Anima if you dont want to-.-
Anima was made specifically to benefit people that don't play a lot.
Atm the regen is too low, seeing as we get 1 non-favoured full distance tele worth of anima per day, I think 12 would be fine provided:
SE add some content that lets us regen anima, I am hoping hamlet defence is going to work something like Campaign did, if theyt have it reward anima at the end of each battle (screw the lore). This way we can actually have some way of regaining anima after a quest zerging session, whilst also doing something worthwhile at the same time.
Imo they should just activate the remaining airship ports. I think this would already be enough.
My own suggestion is to make fewer aetherite points, but either get rid of anima entirely, or make it regenerate much faster (right now, quests require a lot of traveling through repetitive terrain, so everyone uses anima...yet it is possible to run out VERY quickly). Teleportation, in and of itself, isn't the issue. It only severely cheapens the experience when there are way too many places you teleport to. As long as players are still required to do some traveling in order to get to their final destination, I see no problem with it.
It also might help to put in some sort of on-rails transit system that isn't instant, but is faster than chocobo and still allows the player to enjoy the environment. Flight paths, for example.
Moderation is key. It doesn't have to be all one or all the other.
I, too, am low on Anima due to AF Quests, but this just opened my eyes that it depends on yourself on what you spend your anima.
Being able to buy/work Anima back would make Anima less worth. It wouldn't be special anymore... just like Gil nowadays.
Actually i find it fun to see whole Parties Chocoboing through the desert etc... gives the whole World more life.,
Oh, I know it wouldn't work right now, but it is something they could consider for 2.0, which is what I meant. ^^;
Oh, also, allowing mounts to be used within cities would be super helpful, and perhaps remove the need for the new intra-city teleportation system (I am already assuming this is temporary). I have no idea how they plan to handle the cities in 2.0, though.
I ranted on the other anima thread, so I apologize if you already read that...
Anima does need to regenerate faster. I know there's the RP'ers and people who think it should disappear, but in all reality if you are a mammal, or -aren't from Ul'Dah- (which SE promised wouldn't hinder our gameplay *lol*) you get the high hard one... 1 AF line will eat up like 60 anima, or a teleport to a place not "favored" will eat around 4-6... How many hours does it take to get back 6 anima? <_< Seriously? I can't tele to a place i could run in 30min until my char is dormant or hitchhiking for 12 hours? Pshaw.
Anima is probably the only thing that's kept casual players still on the servers, not everyone has 12 hours a day to run to a ? three times. Personally sometimes I won't play if I have no anima because I don't have 45 minutes to complete 1/4 of a quest. Plus keep in mind new players dont even have a choco. Wow what fun... /thread = "Then don't use it."
Screw me and my opinion but "Like" this friggin post if you're tired of "my mule", or /random for tele cuz no one has sh!t.
Burr out.
Honestly..I'd rather see them rejuvinate Anima at a faster rate when you're staying inside a private room. It would give people a reason to stay in the rooms more often than just the rested exp (for those of us who dont have anything else to level or dont intend to level anything else) or the cutscene replay. A simple rate increase, double the anima regen per tic than what it is now.
We've all discussed this in our shell, about limiting transport between crystals themselves, rather than openly used in the field. Fine, do that, remove the anima limitation altogether. But some people like not having to weave in and out of things trying to get to certain areas, such as Mor Dhona. Either way you look at it someone's going to have a point that they see as more valid than someone else's. SE isnt going to possibly pacify the entire community with this. Either A leave it alone and the people who are complaining will just continue to complain. Or change it and make life more difficult for everyone. But as they say, misery loves company. Thats all it really is, a group of players are unhappy for whatever reason and if they're unhappy with the system, then EVERYONE has to share their grief. Silliness.
Though I do expect Something to happen after Dalmund hits. Like a major interruption of aetheryte flow causing the teleport system to not work, for instance. And viola, back to casters teleporting we go. And then we can start shouting in cities with..
(Teleport) (Do you need it?) 1000 (Gil) (Please invite me.)
Boy that sounds familiar though, where have I seen that before..
The day that aetherytes disappear is the day the lands soak up all the anima...and that day will also usher in Time Mages.
Um...WTFudge...seriously? I'm sorry but this thread pisses me off...and I can't believe people reply to this sorta post. Why not support the GOOD posts and ignore these um...<insert your favorite word here>...ones.
And really we had to get several separate threads...
