"FFXIV series" oh .. could be cool, then see "live action" .. nvm..
I don't have high hopes. Something animated would have been far more fitting. If it's live action then the more unusual looking races will just look as out of place as they did in the World of Warcraft movie.
I'd also like to see less money spent on side projects and more on the actual game.
How are Lalafell going to work in a live action show?
*Makes the most anime style MMO*
*Turns it into a live action series*
For all those saying that 'live action' is a bigger audience... maybe, but it's first off the wrong audience, and secondly.
Remember WoW? The biggest Western MMO for a decade and a half? Remember their live action movie? Yeah, neither does anyone, including Blizzard. Live action shows/movies consistently suck when it comes to video games.
Same, and it's an entirely viable market. But even after experiencing, well all of Resident Evil, I certainly still like them for what they are. My mother immensely enjoyed the Street Fighter movies, yes even Chun Li, because she doesn't know the originals and I'm sure plenty of people enjoyed the Dead or Alive movie because at the end of the day, at its core, it was still true to the spirit. Hot ladies having cat fights and giving pouty lips for the camera.
This is all the purest speculation stirred by an announcement that may go nowhere, but as long as it doesn't outright lie about the source material then I'd be interested in seeing where it goes. Heck, make it an HBO series with Game of Thrones level rating and you may actually have a hit.
Remember WoL hefting loads of corpses to a wagon?
I do.
Well, if they do that at least then this would pique my interest..... mmmm live action Cid..... <3
Sorry Jinghun
Seriously though, I have serious reservations about this (CG wouldn't be a problem, this is SE we're talking about - Square Enix Visual Works have been at the forefront of CG development since the late 90s), it's just... the last time we had something from FFXIV that was live action.... this was the result....
Now ask yourself. Do you really want something like that expanded on to an actual TV series?
What are you talking about:

Cheaper than animation? Also eliminate physical or virtual sets.. Just place the characters and story in the modern world somewhere. The heroes go out and fight bosses in old factories, or in some near-wilderness. They can ride dirtbikes covered with chocobo skins, and teleport to other locations.
"Film" it in LA or SF, cast it with homeless folks who will work for less than established "stars". Some of them may even be able to move into regular performance work if they do well, and get past the stigma of having performed in something like this :)
you know it would be fun if they make the "live action" on the real life part only.
so in real life, everything is live action, drama, actor, setting, etc. but when the they start login to FF14, it change into anime.
that would be pretty clever i say.
I'd argue they suck because too many times people don't stay true to the franchise they often change things to appeal to a broader audience and end up alienating the people they should be targeting. The Warcraft movie likely would of been much better had we not have to suffer cringefests and " alternate universe lore "
Had they stuck to the proper lore it would of been a more grim movie, the humans would of been slaughtered and their city would of been burned, there wouldn't of been any cheesy crap with Garona and Lothar or that ridiculous LOTR fellowship style gathering at the end.
to be frank i cant imagine FF14 anime in moe blob trash. aside from alpi and his sis, the majority of the cast just not suited for that kind of design. (i dont want to see raubhan in moe blob lol)Quote:
Not if it's more moe blob trash.
the best i can think of that close to being moe blob is probably chibi style like isekai quartet.
The choice to go live action made me groan until I remembered how long Game of Thrones lasted. Honestly have no idea who the 5 pm shadowlander should be played by.
I would be exited if it was an anime but if it's live action I'm very skeptic. I hope they'll keep non human characters and magic to a minimum because those always look goofy with real actors.
I'll wait to see what The Witcher series looks like before making judgements.
It's the same guys behind that, and if that does well, could be a new era of high fantasy dramas off the back of GoT.
