Beats me, Diadem was about as idiotic as Eureka, so I avoided both.
Was rather interested in the riding maps, b/c I hate doing hunts but at this rate even the daily hunts are A LOT faster than the supposedly "more accessible" way.

Really they just need to extend the time limit. At least to 5.1, if not indefinitely. A month is just way too short for most people to get even one of the more expensive items.
That said, the real heroes here are the people who buy the maps just to experiment and share the results with the rest of us. (edit: actually, from the description they just look like thief maps.)
Heard some people are after the earrings for glamour because they like that sort of stuff. You know how people are different strokes for different folks. But I am willing to bet someone will have them real quick. Usually happens. But I reckon this event is aimed are newer folks to the game.
As someone pointed out its probably easier and quicker to go through CT due to the ability to skip cutscenes versus Castrum or Prae.
I am going for the cards, Pegasus, and maybe MPG, though the maps intrigue me.
The worst thing about this by far is the 'join in progress' restriction. This is going to hurt a ton of players trapped in a party waiting on a tank or healer. So few people check this off to begin with.
I really do question where my sub money goes sometimes...
Hmm do I want to burn out right before the next expansion or keep playing Witcher 2 and finish that by the time its time to come back? lol... not even a hard decision. Sure i'm slightly tempted by the diadem stuff, but the amount of grinding needed to get all of it is a hard pass.
*looks at the amount needed for the earring*....*looks at the dungeons and the amount they give*...no thank you.
Well seems like many people dont run these things if they introduce us to such items.
I mean the idea itself is not bad (even though I find the selection a bit strange..) but that many tomestones for a small earring? And the rest of stuff could easily be done unsynch.
The old relics had a story, different steps, had enough time to even do it casually for a good weapon and for the biggest part it did not need specific dungeons. Often you only needed certain tomestones, so you still can choose what to run. This is pure mindless grind of something we already run way too much. And the only truly new thing takes so much time..there is really a difference between an event that takes 20 minutes and an event where you need huge amount of hours to finish..
I do but if Carnivale is anything like brawlers guild from WoW, I know I'm most likely going to suck at it. :D
Of course not. After all there's a sorceress to b- *cough* I mean... gentlemanly romance of course.
Namazu earrings can't compete with that.
I actually did it for the first time the other day and it isn't that bad. XD Well I only did the first like 5 of them, lol. What I like on it though is that you can single out mobs and not have to figh them all at once. XD If there are three mobs, you can single target them one at a time. Also some do require to use specific movesto make things go faster and what not. While each act also has specific achievements that can better increase your overall score for that act when you complete the achievement in said act. Like one achievement is granted if you use water-based moves and unaspected moves only. ^^
Just chipping away at weekly B-rank hunts over time is enough to get the riding maps eventually.
You can't grind it fast, but you're guaranteed to get there, and without too much actual time investment, especially if you get an out-of-game map of where the spawn locations are.
Also even if you're not interested in the daily hunts, still pick up the mark bills when you remember, and just do any that you come across while going to other places.
with the rewards its not worth doing tbh the only thing kinda worth it are the catfish earings but im not going outta my way to farm tomes 4 a glam i might use once a year lol
Seems like SE still doesn't want me to get those mount speed upgrades.
3-4 hours if you're the only one there.Quote:
(How long does it actually take to gather 99 Diadem spoils for the Pegasus?)
Diadem is a pretty fantastic place for very specific things.
Had hoped we might get some of the aquapolis-only orchestrion rolls in this event (or anywhere).
I think you mean tailor made for no one.
The event itself perplexes me.
It's an event that only lasts a month, where some of the rewards are rare, most of them aren't rare, all of them are overpriced, & at a time when people are preping for 5.0, and unsubbing during a content drought.
In reality if they wanted to make it a catch up event, and not a grind - things would have costed less then half of what they are set up as now.
No undersized parties, and no joining parties in progress also screws people grinding the content, and no grinding it over.
For me as a new player i think its nice to get this itens what I don't have a chance to get yet, but looks like I will need to grind like my soul to get more them one mount @_@
Honestly. Don't grind for anything other then the Earrings, and the Pegasus Whistle.
The Earrings are a new item for this content, and the Pegasus Whistle requires forming a party just to farm it.
Also, a lot of the content has a restriction of having beat that content first, which means it would be easier just to get it from said content.

Not getting reward for joining in progress is a bad move. If everyone unselects that option, what of the players abandoned in a dungeon?
I don't understand...
No Unsync'd progress?
So...
Why would I care about this event? Especially when half of it already is easily done unsync'd and a lot of the rest of it will become easy to do unsync'd in a couple of months when you hit 80...
Like:
* Riding Maps - Are easily obtained by doing Weekly/Daily Hunts from the board. Also, Weekly Masked Carnivale challenges also gives a bunch of Allied Seals. Probably faster than grinding out the Tomestones too...
* Beast Tribe mounts - Just chip away at the quests, they take not a lot of time at all. Especially if you just work on one at a time and so get to do all of the quests available each day with your 12 allowances.
* Pony mounts (Also Ifrit drops) - ARR EX Trials are easily soloed.
* Lanner mounts - HW EX Trials should be easily soloed at level 80.
* Pegasus mount - Diadem can be farmed easily.
That leaves the only 2 things that seem noteworthy being the unique Namazu Earrings and the Odin glamour stuff (Since I'm not sure if he'll be soloable at level 80... His Trial is easy enough now, but his FATE is a bit stronger)
But... That seems like an awfully low "Prize" for the need to farm so many Duties... Especially when you can't even just unsync and rush through them...
Oh well, I think I might just farm out the TT cards and then forget about the whole thing.
Me: Cool, new event with new items, let's see what it is!
Me now: Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh... no
I'm definitely going to farm for the Answers orchestrion roll. Want that so bad.
I'm looking at the rewards for this, and oof, most of them I already have. The only things I would really go for is the Pegasus mount and riding maps, but as its been said before, there are easier ways to get those riding maps. I don't like what they've done with this, but I'd like for them to keep this permanently, with more rewards from old content being added, perhaps even old ARR event stuff. Something like this could easily reward people in the long run, and would be worth keeping around.
I've had an idea(ik it's shocking me too) what if instead of the current rewards(except the diadem stuff) they gave out all seasonal event stuff it would be free advertisement for mog station stuff for when the event is over while giving every new player a shot at getting the stuff for free briefly
On top of needing the faded copy of Answers itself, the recipe also calls out for two other faded copies that are used for their own respective orchestrion music scrolls. Those two other scrolls are dropped from Lv50 raids that still own unsynced level 70's, especially T9. It is also a 60 2* recipe requiring a Master Alchemist IV.
A crafter in possession of these scrolls will have to make the choice to use them to craft up Answers, or get the T5 and T9 scrolls twice. Flat out purchasing the faded copies will cost you around 500k - 1mil, with Nael's drop being the most expensive of the three. The Answers music scroll itself also averages just a little under 1 mil. This event, is probably the easiest way to get Answers so long as you have the PoV that grind =/= challenge. Basically, you can grind the gil, grind the tomes, or farm the content. Either way, Answers remains a highly demanded orchestrion roll of one of the best tracks in the game that isn't easy to acquire no matter how you go about it^^
I'm not exactly sure what's hard to understand about this. Its incentive for veteran players to help newer players with MSQ related duties. If you have everything that you can buy from the vendors then dont do it?
It would kind of defeat the purpose of just chain running the dungeons unsynced solo since the primary goal is helping new players.
They didn't even have to do this. People will complain no matter what I guess.
I echo Selova, and think this event is to help newer players. If it weren't, I think more duties would be available such as from HW content. I'm not surprised that those forging the path of least resistance are already calculating how to go about acquiring the most amount of tomes in the least amount of time, so I can expect nothing but Crystal Tower in alliance roulette for the next month for sure. It's pretty much that way now, so no biggie. Because of that though, I am not so certain that players trying to get through low level dungeons and Castrum/Prae actually get an increase to the amount of veterans queueing into those instances.
It's also quite clear that obtaining everything on this list is not the intention. The pool of items consists of a wide range of loot from various content in the game: Diadem, Hunts, EX primals, Raids, Beast Tribes; the only one that's really missing from content not everyone does is PvP. This gives players who don't run that content a chance at some of those rewards, and those who do run them can just take these items off of their list and focus somewhere else.
My only gripe is it's only for a month. This feels like something that should be around longer, or come around once per patch cycle.
