Does anyone else think they should age up the fem miqote/au ra character models?

I'm old and my aura looks older than me despite being barely smaller than me.

I would not be surprised if threads eventually began to flood in again to push for playing children versions of their races to accommodate the next thing legalized.

I think the biggest problem is people play their toons as though it where really themselves. When someone begins identifying as a fictional avatar to escape their reality, they begin to embrace a lie they want others to reassure them in....and thats where trolls and perverts come from! Trolls seem to have a need to feel superior to and dominate others, they tend to dress their toons as evil and demonic as they can to express their inner hatred and unquenched ego (narcissists), boasting of being the strongest or gods. People who dress slutty want the sexualized attention they dont get in RL, some seem to make their dream girl others wish to be a girl....same level of depravity, just different emotional outlets required. This is why I go silent when other players become abusive or perverted, I don't wish to be the outlet for their emotional backlash should they feel Im in their way. I've left 3 guilds so far, I just require a certain level of maturity with people I game with, Im tolerant but have boundary's too. Thats not to say I dont have a swimsuit for my avatar when swimming or fishing.

People have and angel and devil, one on each shoulder. Eventually the one you feed the most will be strong enough to take over as the dominant voice, and thats when things often end up on the news.

There's no need to make the ones we have younger, but we certainly don't want to offer this community new races that look even younger.

Just to be clear here don't really care about how you guys dress your characters don't think that's even relevant to the points already discussed in this thread by a OP that auto proclaim himself as the moral standard.

Uh... no? Things are only at gutter level if you want them to be. I’m personally happy with the appearance of both my miqote and aura and would be pretty annoyed if they were to just completely change them. Also I’m a female irl and still enjoy playing female miqote and aura and also enjoy dressing them in some more revealing outfits from time to time. If we are going to try to make some argument insinuating that sexy video game avatars are offensive to women or are bad for young girls to see, couldn’t we also turn around and say it’s offensive to try to censor the female form. Sexy super feminine women are women too. I’m not actually saying I find anything offensive here, just sick of people railing against video game avatars of all things.

There are also race and clothing options in the game for those who like to play female characters that aren’t cutesy and petite running around in bikinis. I see no need to remove present options from people who enjoy them.

Anyway, I certainly wouldn’t be against all races getting more creation options, and it would be cool to be able to create older looking characters or ones with different body types etc.. I’m just against altering what currently exists thus chang8ng peoples already existing avatars against their will.

...Im not catholic, so religious buildings I would most likely never see or have a reason to visit would not concern me....maybe if they added it to the game I might have a look around as long as the enemys arent too tough. I think we even fought an evil pope in the game, I forgot his name, he became a titan. (sry for spoiler for those who havent finished)

You are entitled to your opinion, but just because you dont agree with my points doesnt mean Im wrong ether. Im not against an aged option ether, as long as its an option. Customisation is a big draw to MMO's.

I don't find this necessary. There's quite a few adult women who have similar builds to Miqo'te and Au'Ra. The only "child-like" aspect I could think of are probably the emotes, but even so, those are very Japanese-inspired motions. I always find it ironic how some of the complaints in this game stem from cultural differences between the west and Japan, like this one

Just don't presume everyone thinks like you because am not the only player who doesn't care about how you present your character aesthetics or don't simply can careless about it, doesn't make you wrong or right just don't presume all players really care about it or make their pre-judgements based on it.

If they did, I wouldnt need to say a word. But if I didnt feel it was worth saying, I wouldnt have brought it up...especially in a place I was sure of to be possible looked down upon for saying it. Well but one can be abruptly honest also when clearly can careless on how others present or don't their character aesthetics or let that define their real life personality, if they decide to dress them as clowns who cares?

On how persons play their characters they play as they please what if simply can careless either? What if you have other players that really don't care about it? Honestly.

adult in NA is 18+ mithra and au ra both fit into that group. id say that people look that way between 18-26, depending on the person.

i think people that see them as younger than that, just forgot what young adults look like. Heres a hint, most of the women you see on TV playing teenagers are like 22-25

Would be down for more "older look" options.

I'm all for additional options but I really dont think we need to "age up or down" anything.

I think there should definitely be more options, that'd be great!

I don't think the models need to be changed because some creepy minority demographic that see their characters as purely sexual avatars though.

Even putting aside other reasons like young or young-looking people making characters they can identify with, people wanting to make cute characters rather than sexy characters, glamours to look like pre-existing characters etc... You'd still be left with the mechanical issue of removing current assets, changing thousands of pcs and npcs, and having to implement new ones, so from a purely cost effective standpoint it's a bad idea.

If FFXIV were some kinda M rated porn-sim game then there'd probably need to be some policing of the graphics. But its a T rated fantasy MMO where you're suppose to go on adventures. If people are having fun making cute emotes at each other let them have their fun!

Have you seen what 13 to 18 years are wearing irl the game is pretty tame. And not just in movies where they are making a point about it.

Reason I say you cannot determine whats real or fake, the characters are nothing but digital code pixels the people who play behind them probably don't think of age but rather play the game why you are putting a age on them is beyond me, because wouldn't the person behind the character who is of age lets throw a random number out like 40 you call them 10 you have no clue what you are talking about.

you cannot put a age on something that isn't real it doesn't have birthdays it don't age like real humans you need to stop mixing real life with fantasy plain and simple.

While I PERSONALLY would like my catgirl taller and much curvier, that is just my preference because it would be more like me. But the character model is just fine as it reflects the true size of ADULT Japanese and other East Asian women generally speaking. Ladies in their 20s can easily look like middle schoolers and they are not trying to. They have slight builds, great skin and they usually do not wear heavy makeup.

Alleging that the characters look too young and they are made that way in order to appeal to a “certain” demographic is just insulting and incorrect. Please try to correct your worldview.

The fem au ra emotes really need some work too. They act like little girls. When you pair one of them up with other characters that are like twice their height... it just looks wrong. Makes me concerned for the younger people who are playing this game and seeing young girls sexualized like that. That might be normal in Japan, but the rest of the world isn't as cool with it.

Having said that, more options is great! let people have older looking miqo'te/au'ra but there's no need to force things down peoples throats

If it were a crime for males to even be attracted to teenagers, we'd seriously have some over crowded prisons. Many females in the 15-17 range can pass for young adults, and a moderate amount from 18 to early 20-ish still look like kids, but it's ok for adults to engage these young ladies because they are considered of age? And what's up with the height? If a 40-something female is barely pushing 5 feet she's undatable now? It is such an arbitrary and needless thing to bring up about the avatars in the game.

Many players will choose a female Miqo'te and Au ra for a myriad of reasons, and it really isn't that big of a deal if one of those reasons is to make them pleasing to the eye. Get over it OP. There are far bigger fish to fry.

Uhm, for me female Miqo and Au Ra look like women in their 19-25. If it's considered as "too young" then I don't know... I am 24 and people often think that I'm under 18. Should I fix my face, doc?

As for emotes, I don't like Au Ra's emotes, but I don't think that they need rework. They are what they are. And there are a lot of players who like them in the way how they exist.

Uhm. I'm sorry, but why should they? We have tones of both modest and edgy clothes in this game for both males and females. If you see players in open clothes - it means they wanted to wear them.
I am female irl and I see no issues with female clothes in FF14, it's gem in terms of glamour. If I will want to wear some open clothes on my female (or male) character - I have the full right to do it and you have no right to forbid me to do it. Stop this shit "let's wear all characters into clothes with no pixel of shown skin" already, please. Let players do what they want and wear what they want.

I just want to point out that this is an Asian game and Asian women tend to look young for a really long time compared to the rest of the world.

They did that to Lin because she is 14 in game.

I play a female Au Ra that is almost minimum height. I'm female myself irl. And I do NOT think my character looks like a child. Maybe you can make a female Au Ra look like about 16-18, but not much younger. If you see them as children, that's a you problem. Most players don't.

I also don't think they look weird next to taller characters because I understand that the race just looks like that.

And what's this derogative "looks at avatar" stuff when you quote someone who plays female Au Ra or Miqo'te? I personally find male Midlanders absolutely boring (and can't stand female Highlanders), but I would never say something like that to anyone.

All the 2.0/3.0 races all need some new and better options.
