Don't mind if I do.
OP: I thought so too... XD .. it's good to be in a time zone near Japan

I blame the Ragnarok Server and SE claiming it will be European Server, most want to avoid this server because if no one is on at the times you play it will feel dead.
Most players, even EU players are avoiding this server also.
I am not willing to go there because of that chance.
Who cares..... 90% of the population isn't changing servers anyway.
Just remember this was one of the cons of using option 2, we were all made aware of it. As a community we chose this method.
Then again perhaps SE set the threshold a little low for the server merges, since now every server minus Ragnarok is full.
Ridill just maxed out.. Ragnarok the only one available. :D
If you are going with your default server, (e.g. Mysidia > Gugnir) doesn't your application have priority?
Its really weird that all servers all full, i mean, if you start with lets say 70% population on each server and 30% free space for one server to be full it need to take 30% of population of other server.... I don't get what are they doing...
I think that the algorithm that count the ppl on each server is doing something like this:
PPL Today + PPL Incoming
Instead of doing this:
PPL Staying - PPL Leaving + PPL Incoming
There's no other option that i can think of to explain that all the servers all full...
Yeah, there is no way that all of the servers are full, not opening the places from the people that move. I think the merger have been a complete disaster. SE is probably working on the problem right now, before the week ends SE will give a statement and do something about it. Like always we are just going to have to sit still and wait until Yoshi-P makes a decision how to fix these.
This is all due to, yet again, players thinking they know what's best and SE failing for listening. Needs less developer action and more "We'll look into that" approach. SE, please listen, you can't please everyone and you're a fool to try. Even for the population that remains, the one half will always exist that wants it their way. Somebody's gotta go.
freedom is overrated.
SE forces anyone who wants to change to go to Ragnarok, so it's not underpopulated.
:( sad panda
The main problem is that the system is not showing the places from the people that left or not update fast enough. Like always SE screw up, and they probably will fix it by the end of the week. They may even reset everyone back to their original world and say try again.
But should priority be given to the players who still play now. The players who have payed a subscription to continue to play.
There's no good reason to block current players because it could have an impact on someone who doesn't and might never play the game any more.
If they want returning players to be able to play with their friends again in the future, then increase the population limits on the servers.
We've lost half of the servers, if inactive players are still counted then obviously the limits on the number of players on each server is going to need to be increased.
Hooray for us, I know... But I don't know anyone that was affected by this merge. Most players are just defaulting to the server they got. We're gonna meet some new folks from the other world and Kum Bah Yah in the streets of Uldah. What makes one world different from another anyway? Trying to get away from a group of people maybe? Wanted a cooler named server? Or simply feeling like you had a choice in it?
Is the fun factor somehow diminished because of the server you're on/going to be on... it's the same if you defaulted right?
I seriously hope SE simply stops listening to the community. Yoshi is smart enough to do this. He doesn't need input from a raging community who always see things from one side. The whole reason WoW ended up being a joke is because Blizzard listened to every 14 year old raging kid. I really do not want Square Enix to take the same approach.
Read what the community has to say, tell us you are considering it and simply do what you think is the best Yoshi. Asking for input is ok, but listening to crying people is not
None of this would have happened if they would have gone for the initial plan 4. People that quit the game have no right to whine and I couldn't give a damn about them, even if they were a really good friend. You simply gave up your right to demand stuff when you quit the game. Now because of those inactive people active players can not go to their server of choice. Good job community, stop blaming SE, this one is on us.
This was the last straw for me, I'm done. I'm done playing a Japanese-centric game from North America.
I got on Gugnir but I'm waiting on 2 linkshell members to get in as well >< I'm sick of been stuck on a social server....
There are several reasons I can come up with why SE is keeping the slot numbers limited:
1) Servers are simply full and more people might cause lag >>> SE should not open any additional slots
2) Servers are not full, but to make sure every server got enough people they are limiting certain servers to even the numbers a bit >>> SE should not open any additional slots
3) Servers are mainly full because of inactive people: Kick them and make paying/active players a priority. After this round of merge is over they could give the inactive people the chance to transfer (without having to activate their account). Too bad if their server is full.
Just my opinion, SE has the insight and the knowledge to make their own decisions. We can give input or feedback, but we should stop crying about every single fart.
There is hardly enough people in this game to lag the servers out lol I think they are trying to balance the servers for new people who start playing the game.
/wave Taki. So many people going to Gungnir!
Just tell them to keep trying. I got through about 30min ago.
wait, the communtiy was against the option we got? are you from another dimesnion where people didnt moan and whine yelling at a mixed option that we ended up getting in the end?
players got what they wanted, they just didnt think about the end result of it
on another hand, i personaly think tey will raise the caps on servers bit by bit over time so this isnt the end all and all servers arent capped for good
Oh god I know right...I really don't know what to expect from this company any more lol soon SE will be dead to me at this rate xD 2.0 better blow my F#$*ing mind.
Exactly, that what I was trying to say (on a previous post). I had no problems with that option.
Community wanted option 2, without thinking (as usual). Square Enix decided to combine it with option 4, which was fair enough. The only thing the community forgot was that the inactive people would take 50% (if not more) of the slots.
So I guess, best option would have been option 2 + 4 + ignore inactive players.
Also remember that you can not simply say "FFXIV has not enough players to lag the servers". Square Enix is currently also counting all the thousands of inactive players too and that is the current problem, a problem created by the community, so really not the place to blame Square Enix this time.
I don't know how people are screwed... 9/10 servers are full which 5k people will reside in... :/ the only Server open is Ragnarok lol
I think its more players know what they want. But they don't read or understand why they want it or what it truly is. I saw this coming the minute people started claiming option 2 was the best. Its simple logic to me. Giving inactive players priority over active players is never a good idea. The community and SE should of known this. I'm kinda shocked so many thought they would be able to move freely while keeping the servers balanced.
that is what i feel, FF14 is kinda running by some amateurs.
they just think about 1 thing, then totally ignore others.
or should we say SEX gave limited resource to FF14 team, server will be full at current stage, that is really a joke.
It's only fair we get to choose first since we pay more =D
