Not true. There was a recent lodestone post in regards to chocobo barding, one of the features that will be implemented in 1.21.

Also while I do agree that Ashthra is... Apparently excessively angered. She keeps being correct.

You know he isn't obligated to tell us jack shit about the progress of the game. The team does so to keep some contact with the community and get some feedback. The only people he has to give any kind of progress update to is the higher ups. Sure being open and communicating with your player base is good for business and keeps us happy but don't think by any means you're entitled to anything.

Aside from that he even said in the letter that they'll be updating info about 1.21 soon. Be a little patient.

Quite embarassed to be a part of this community after reading some of the posts in here, tbh.

They have been so incredibly communicative and responsive since Yoshi-P took over and have been updating us constantly, but when we don't hear about every little thing or get a status update every single week, the greedy ones here throw a bitch fit. Take a step back and realize how you make yourselves look and what you sound like.

1.21 details will be ready when they are ready, and they are obviously working hard on it. Discouraging them with immature posts will help absolutely no one.

I did not mean to say she had the right approach at all. She is in fact being innefective with her method of delivery, truth to be told. However her point is correct still.

I'm happy to know about what they did, it helps get a more personal touch with us.

The point is you're arguing about time between content. Lettered patches aren't for content, so your timescales are schewed.

I laugh at the whole community.

I won't be like half the community and kiss *** saying that I'm happy that he tells us how life is and whatnot. Yeah it's nice to see that he's doing alright, I can understand that. But we are also paying customers that want to know what is happening to our game.

What happened to the poll? I've been waiting patiently to see what he has planned for the future and what the poll is actually about. I want to know what he wants to do about the server merges/changes. What about the next patch? If you weren't upset about seeing this instead of information on the next patch, you are lying to yourself lol. I won't lie like everyone else and say "Oh my god, NA community sucks" blah blah blah. I'm sure there are other people in other places just as pissed/annoyed. The NA community is vocal about a game they are now paying for. Blogs/personal experiences should go in a blog section IMO and not another letter. I was so happy to see Letter from the Producer on the lodestone when I got out of class. Then I was annoyed. It was a cute read, but I don't really think it's necessary lol.

And to the people calling everyone trolls/***holes/stupid and defending the letter, you aren't doing anything for your cause. Your just digging the same hole everyone else is.

The pettiness of people in these forums continues to amaze me. This was clearly a "Touch Base" post intended to show that they have not forgotten us with the start of the new year. I see no problem with that and, in fact, I am glad for it.
As far as supplying information is concerned I keep track of the Community Reps postings. More and more over the last 6 months we have been getting information from the individule developement groups through the Reps. Even Yoshi-P is using the forums more then long posts to update us. I would expect this to increase as time goes on. Up until the holiday break there was always a couple of posts a week from them with new information. As we get closer to the release of Ver 2.0 and the workload increases informational Letters from the Producer will be more like the upcomming update to changes for Ver 1.21 and progress reports on the developements for Ver 2.0. The individual developement groups will be providing us with information concerning the current game.
As for those of you who decided to use this post to rail against Ver 1.20b it did exactly what the letter patches were designed to do, implement things that were not ready in time for the main patch and to fix problems that were discovered as a result of the patch
This letter did offer 1 subtle hint. With Ver 1.21 scheduled in about 3 weeks <according to the roadmap> the updated changes for Ver 1.21 will be posted soon. Let the guesing begin.

I don't understand where the 1.20b hate is stemming from either. When have we EVER gotten a "b" patch that did virtually anything except for a minor fix here and there? I'm one of the anti-Goobbue members of the forum, but I still recognize the fact that introducing a new mount in 1.20b was probably the biggest thing a "b" patch has ever done to date.

Didn't people complain when he pushed the patch back from end of November to early december? Since people complained he already stated he won't say anything unless he's 100% certain basically.

Why can't lettered patches contain content?
I wasn't even asking for a brand new BCNM, or Dungeon. I mentioned one or two open world NMs. A full month to think some things up and implement em. Yoshi said in the New Years that the team was 4x bigger than what they showed, and I know that they are trying to make 2.0 not as big a fail as FFXIV was at launch, but that doesn't mean they can't create some small peices to slowly add into the game.

I did quite enjoy reading about the festivities and traditions for japanese new year, however, would it have been so hard, considering it is the final week of january, to have 1 sentence relating to 1.21, specifically more than 'we're working on it'?

I work as a game developer for iOS and Android, I'm aware that schedules slide, it's called creeping scope and games are particularly susceptible too it, but if I told my clients 'I'm working on it' when they asked for an estimated date of delivery i'd be out on my ass faster than I am when I accidentally untoggle walk/run in turning leaf.

Even an estimated date for the next Letter from the producers would have been nice.

Given that by 2.0 chocobos will be in fact be combat companions, the groundwork for the system that will more than likely be their equipment setup is... Pretty meaningful to me?

Some people on this forum are absolutely disgusting.

Their attitude and whole view towards Yoshi P and the rest of the XIV team are so convoluted and sick that they don't show a single piece of compassion of care toward the people trying to make the game better.
While these letters do not represent or give much information toward FFXIV as a product, they do give us an insight to the developers, the people shaping this game, and further bridges that gap of communication that often is missing between the community and the developers.
Many people here can't even seem to fathom the amount of work put in by these individuals, but apparently feel the need to launch a personal and offensive attack against them.
The developers are not the problem with this game, it's the small number of narrow minded individuals that spoils an otherwise great community.

Now, if you forgive this outburst. I'm going to retreat into "viewing" mode, what I spend the majority of my time doing here due to the attitude and views of said individuals.

I would like to say thanks to the developers, community reps and community members here on the forum that put the time and effort into helping Eorzea become a better place.

Yeah reading the letter was cool imo. It's nice to know they are human and remind some of us that they are.

But as it has already been said, some people in the game or at least on the forums seem to be extremely ungrateful. If the letter doesn't do much for ya, great, keep it to yourself. Don't have anything nice to say STFU. ... or wait was it supposed to be, "Don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." ? Is that it? Fu*k that STFU works better for these people; it get's their flame energy all in a twirl and get's them really pissed off! :p

It was a nice letter, more personal than some, and I think it shows Yoshi still wants the players to have that personal connection from these.

Pretty soon we are gonna need to start mailing Yoshi cans of chicken soup, since he seems to get sick so much!

It's why I asked you the same question you asked:

"What's wrong with them doing it?"

Nothing wrong with people only caring for information much like there's absolutely zero wrong with Yoshida posting a "personal" letter. Remember the original intention of it...communication and to let people know who he is and what's going on. They still have to pass PR but they are HIS letters...though I bet if Blizzard did something like this more frequently people would have zero complaints.

A lore update and a picture, while pretty, are not "the groundwork" for chocobo equipment system. It was nice to look at as a small teaser, but it didn't outline or hint at how the chocobo equipment system would work. If it did that, then I would agree with you and call it a meaningful update on the groundwork of an upcoming system.
