What jobs are we hoping to see in the next expansion?

If that is the hybrid they had in mind then it's never going to happen. There are some cases where DPS can relieve a healer, namely with Vercure, Clemency, and Revival abilities, but making a job capable of pulling 2 or all 3 roles is just asking for too much. Even if SE did decide to do such a thing, it would be way too stretched out to be acknowledged by endgame meta, and making it potent enough to run endgame would make it OP. FF14 cares too much about the role trinity to just throw a screw like that into it.

Necromancer and or Warlock.

1. Blue Mage

2. Judge/Magitek Knight

3. Dancer

Any two out of three of these job classes I would love to see! ^^

Tanks and healers can viably replace DPS in all but the most hardcore content with the tightest DPS checks. At the end of HW, echo buff was enough to allow for an 8 tank A12S, 23 healer Rabanastre has been done while it was current. It's already a thing. It's just DPS that get gimped by not being allowed to double dip into tanking/healing much, but tanks and healers are already very much double dipping into DPS rather extensively.

Rune Knight / Mystic Knight / something to fill the spellblade archetype without having a raise tacked on.

As far as Rune Fencer for tank...I mean sure if it'd fit I guess, but we already have two magic knight tanks (both DRK and PLD use plenty of magic and swords). I know for dps we already have RDM to fill the magic blade archetype...kind of...but I bring up the tank aspect because I'd rather have some variety in tank flavor. A blue mage tank would work better to set it apart from our current selection I feel.

A pure mage tank would be a fresh breath of air. Blue Mage would probably fill a tank role perfectly.

Ooh, I'd love to see an actual muscian class like an Orchestrator job class for either tank or healing! Like it'd be a job class utilizing a conductor to control various floating instruments to either attack enemies, cause status buff to allies or debuffs to foes. Basically a strategy type job class that focuses on guiding the battle field into more favourable position.

For Rune Knight, I had an idea a few weeks back that it could possibly be functiin similar to how FF5 Exdeath from Dissidia series fights. Creating elaborate powerful magical shields to defend friends and counter foes by weaving runes in the air with a magical blade that floats around you as if writing with pen and paper.

A healing chemist based job class could combine the use of rapid fire gauntlets with syring vials attached to the wrists and waist or utilize a sniper rifle like Ana from Overwatch. I'd actually kind of want to see a sort of steampunk theme with this. ^^

@ Joe777, SE would never make Dancer a dps nor should they really. Their would be much outrage even from myself.
We have more then enough dps jobs atm for a few expansions, next focus should be a tank and healer then after that who knows.

What i'd like to see:

Necromancer (What FF11 was supposed to get but Geomancer took its place)
Beastmaster/Tamer
Dancer (Lyse's outfit has gotta be hinting it and her h2h style)

They did fine with the male dancer outfits in FFXI. I doubt they'd have trouble with it here.

I'd love Dancer, Puppetmaster and a Whip using job, I'd also like "different" types of healers...lets leave magic behind.

Turn Monk into a tank

Geomancer with the ability to spec DPS or Healer (queue as such) (basically how Summoner/Scholar are but without splitting it into two jobs.)

Advanced Jobstones.

Use an advanced jobstone to turn your Warrior Tank into a Viking DPS
Machinist gunslinger DPS into a Chemist Healer that shoots potions at people
etc.

Magitek Knight or such, wielding a war hammer (gun hammer maybe?) a la Nero. Could be a job that synergies with MNK’s blunt resist down debuff. Only issue is how a lot of the WAR attack animations mimic what one would expect from hammer swings (and you can see that’s what SE did for Nero in the last Omega unlock quest).

Not quite. More like, you do a level 70 5.0 job quest and you are given a new job stone with its own separate levelling from 70 - 80. whereas the SCH/SMN/ACN is all in tandem and tied together. So if I wanted to get my war tank up to 80 after I got my viking to 80 I would have to swap and level it up. Branching jobs instead of linked together. Might need to drop the level down to 30 even? I dont know, I just like the idea of an advanced job, even if it doesnt change your party role. I know SE hated it but I liked it. Probably too much work...

For Tank Jobs.
I really wish they will add only tank and healer jobs only or the tanking and healer group will shrink again. There is a lot of dps jobs out there and it won't help the que. Thats my point of view.

Deep Dungeon Unique Jobs, Blue Mage, Beastmaster, PuppetMaster. The idea being they would all count as having 2 people in a party, so while still counting as "Solo" if going into the dungeon by yourself, when it came to party setups you could either do a duo of 2/3 or party with 1 and 2 other jobs.

The leveling gimmicks could be varied based on having to do things within the open world, gathering materials/crafting materials. A decent mix and match.

With Blue Mage, they would have a general ability "Learn" that anyone can use but most of the abilities that can be learned would be within Regular 4-man dungeons. Nothing to extreme but requiring you to do said dungeon at the proper level and not unsynced in order to learn.

With Beastmaster, maybe a mix of Hunt, Fate and regular mobs in order to gain "ownership" of certain creatures. Maybe have it where Hunts provide the most points toward X creature so basically Hunts>FATES>Regular mobs. Player would need to use food on X creature than defeat them in order to get their point value added towards the taming of said species.

Puppetmaster would pretty much be pure crafter influence with rare loot for parts being found with Deep Dungeon itself.

The core idea being that most crafts would require all the crafts to create, materials from unspoiled nodes and coke, always with the coke. I would also have it where you could HQ the parts for added benefits so there would definitely be incentive to getting the best of the best parts for your puppet.

Overall though, these Jobs would just be used for Deep Dungeon Content. . . and maybe older content that's at least 2 expansion old, so 2.X content + Diadem.

I personally think it would just be a fun way to introduce jobs that would be harder to be introduced into the PVE environment but could work in Deep Dungeon and maybe in 1v1 PVP or a PVP system that is specifically designed for those 3 jobs to duke it out against. So a 3v3 rather than a 4v4 or just a 1v1.

They will give us one job, Dancer. It will be a DPS. When pressed, they will say that tank and healer players are fine where they are, but they will change the dungeons to be 1/1/3 just to be safe.

What you're asking for is specs, and I think it's not a bad idea. Technically a job is an advanced class, but I would like the ability to specialise within a job. On the other hand, as Blizzard and other MMO devs will know, it can effectively be as problematic as introducing a whole new class and lead to long debates over homogeneisation. But it would be cool.

Key point here: It's a Garlean weapon. Not exactly something the WoL or anyone associated with them would be trained with.

And what form would it take? We've seen both a sword-like gunblade and the pikeish gunblade. Garleans seem to throw guns on everything.

Jobs aren't supposed to be about the weapons. They're about the abilities. And what abilities would even distinguish a gunblade user? They're not more agile than a Ninja. They're not as defensive as a Paladin. They don't have any noticeable proficiency with magic. The point that seems to be missing here is that while a gunblade looks like a "cool weapon", the abilities of people wielding something simpler can outclass them because of their skills.

The key here is that by that point, there may be elements of the Garlean empire that are working with the WoL (as I suspect the story might arc, particularly by 6.0.). Jobs are elite in nature, so it is not at all impossible to imagine a gunblade using job, in spite of the rarity of these weapons, since thematically only a select few would be taking up such training anyway, such as the WoL. Most jobs are hitherto dead traditions, which the WoL is in part helping revive. MCH and RDM are very much the exceptions, and even the latter would take an exceptional individual.

How i feel when people try to say Viking should be possible when we already have Warrior.

If you need to make a class/job with a two handed hammer, must it be so uninspired that the best one can come up with is an already existing jobs theme? In this game we already have Nero and Grynewaht using two handed hammers setting a precedent for an existing class/ job of Garlean origin. From my perspective they do not seem to be Vikings to me. Would it not make more sense to have a Engineer who makes magitek field emitters that create defensive/ buffing AoE's and make it a Tank role? Something that would mirror Machinist but with a defense role rather than a DPS. The whole story could be wrapped around Garlean defectors trying to help make their homeland something to be proud of, something i feel is being missed with the current defectors we have had contact with.

He even calls his hammer Mjolnir ffs...

no i just point out that make more tank that will copy paste of the already present job is not make new jobs. they try to create jobs that will bring something new to the table... then i doubt we will see 5 tank and 5 healer, another point, some raid only have room for 1-2 tank, means you will have more competition with more tank.

and i have said it before (a long time ago) add more tank, will not make more people play tank... people that want to play dps will play dps, even if the new tank is fun or such... because they simply don't want to have the responsability to be the tank.

i think a fourth tank job is possible but i'm curious to see how they will do it. a dodge tank it's either OP or totally broken, that leave not many room for create a new interesting tank job. but who know...

Isn't Dark Knight in HW a good example that people will try playing tank if made fun and interesting? Sure now drk isn't in a good spot but for many people I know it was the first door step to tanking.

Can't we say the same about dps? There is so many dps jobs out there that adding any new dps job would be copy and paste. I disagree with that point of view. I think that There is plenty of space for new interesting jobs in each category.

If you've ever played Tales of Xillia, Alvin is my role model for this job: he uses a sword and gun, but can use the gun to charge his sword's "martial artes", making them stronger and sometimes even taking different forms.

I doubt it would ever happen but Sword Saint from tactics would the job I would love to see in FFXIV.

Well this game is pretty well-known as play as you want casual in all but the most difficult Savage and Ultimate content so no surprise people make such parties for kicks lol and as long as the toughest content still requires the trinity I doubt SE will mind people doing so :P

I still don't think SE would give us "clone" jobs, but if they do they wouldn't be added as an advancement of an existing job. That would mean every other job would get an advancement too, and that is way too much to do and is like trying to replace every job we have. Besides, there's no reason Viking wouldn't be a completely separate job from Warrior, because it would be. Also if they did add a Viking job it'd like begin in Limsa Lominsa due to it being relative to pirates and stuff, but would not require Warrior be unlocked to unlock Viking.

ffxiv is incredibly boring now, same old routine its so predictable its sickening...maybe new jobs would help...probably not though :)

First and foremost, I'd love to see a non-magic healing job, maybe like Chemist. I actually main a SCH and while I enjoy healing in general, I'd like to try something a bit different. If I recall correctly, I think Cid used a couple non-magic heals, way back in one of the ARR "let's beat up some Garleans" duties (where you're working with Maggie and so on).

Dancer might be fun too, if only to see how such a thing would be implemented. I'm a bit surprised it's not in the game already, to be honest. I think it was more of a support-type job in FFTactics (not sure about other games), and your weapon was basically a large roll of carpet that you would fling at your enemies like a yo-yo. Or at least, I don't think I hallucinated this.

As for a new tank role... Yikes, y'all are talkin' about gunblades, gunhammers, maybe even one of those absurd gun-chainsaws that Grynewaht had (great for both self-defense and yardwork!). Now I'm not going to pretend I know anything about tanking or what would be cool or feasible for a tank (I used to main a tank in another MMO, but never FF14). But I will admit that if there's ever a gun + whatever-ridiculous-thing-you-can-tack-onto-a-gun job, I sure hope they get Nero to be the trainer. I think I would actually take up tanking just to see that. :cool:

I like your idea.That gave me the idea of having a job whose spells were casted after drawing certain character or runes on the air à la Japanese calligraphy with a giant brush (Mado BLM weapon) as well as having some sort of talismans or creating purifying areas on the ground. A Priest or Exorcist.

As a healer, I like the idea of having an herbalist who didn't actually use magic but whose abilities were simply concoctions.

Beastmaster with whips and having mounts/minions as the main source of mechanics. Balance needed, but maybe having 3 or 4 free slots in your skills that would depend on the kind of pet or mount you were using at the moment would make things simple. Maybe we could have more than one pet out at a given time? No dramas for OP minions. Skills might be simply based on it's category (Critter, Monster, Poppet)

Also, blunt weapons like hammers, maces, nunchaku or boomerangs.

So many people want Beastmaster and Blue mage. But with the way this game is setup it will be nothing like what you are wanting out of those jobs. Puppetmaster will be the same too...

Blue Mage:
skills will be learned through job quests only, just like every other job, and will serve the same function (some damage skills, a stun move, a ranged move, a hp regain move) but in the end be only slightly different than what we already have for jobs, the uniqueness will be the name of the skill and the animation that plays it out.

Beastmaster:
You will tame three beasts through your job quest line and that will be all you can use until they come out with the egi... err... beast glamor system. one will be tanky, one will be damagey, and another will be DOTy/rangey.

If it's a vengeance based tank, it wouldn't necessarily be like this. It could have a skill like TBN called "Learn" which grants stacks of "Knowledge" that allows it to gain passive parry or damage resist, or even crit % up. At a certain number of stacks they can unleash their learned attack, which could act like revenge or fell cleave. I'm no game designer, and I realize I basically just described warrior in some terms, but it could be worked on like that to avoid your prediction.

That said, I completely agree BLU wouldn't be the BLU of old. I don't want it to be, I want it to be XIV's take on BLU; it'd certainly be better than another sword tank.

Well then... Pure magic tank, support tank that actively gives people buff, whether it's mana/tp songs or actual offensive buffs (I don't know, shogun, tactician, strategist, or whatever), caster tank, evasion tank... Or simply another concept but the same mechanics. I mean, what are BRD and MCH, apart from a different aesthetic ?

A healer and a tank.

Same could be said of BLM? I mean, in XI BLM had every element no? Here it's only got fire, ice, and thunder and Fire burns Ifrit. Every job's been dumbed down. I also disagree: RDM's swordplay is an afterthought to the job's way of play. I would agree with you if it were a melee that used its swordplay as a generator rather than a caster with a melee spender, however.
