IMO the Creation gear looks like the MegaBlocks version of the Ironworks set (LEGO). That's about the best description I can give, the design is similar and function is the mostly the same but something is just not quite there.

What are you talking about? Most of the armor in this game leans itself to female figure and design? Granted, the cyber men armor isn't the best, but it is not the worst one either. I say that title goes to the shisui set for male models. I say less then half of the armors in the game lend themselves to fully covered body.
These sets are so bad, I was hoping for the SCH inspired winner for the healer set um.. someone help me out here? XD
AH found it

The yellow script alc tool is also pretty bad:

Why does it have eyes?!!?!?!?! Looksl ike they infused nidhogg's eyes in my alc tool
This thread has devolved into the discussion of some objective ideal of aesthetics.

Are people 'wrong' if they like the Genji or Creation sets?
Imma get some heat from this but when wow has more interesting armor sets for each and every class.

I am convinced they don't bother anymore because they figure we will always be glamoring over it again. (Which we do)
It just feels like they run out of ideas...They know how to do good glamour it's just they don't seem to have ideas most/a lot of times. Who here isn't expecting Return to Ivalice gear to just be world of darkness/city of mhach robes?
I'd like to see them inject some fantasy and style into the gear. That's not to say they should ignore the more realistic gear, there is a place for both. I also think that the trend in HW to include attractive gear as a carrot to make people run PvP is a poor tactic because it effectively lock gear that people might wish to use for glamour behind PvP an you end up with many players doing just enough PvP in DF to get the pieces they want, an then they quit. A better strategy would be to make PvP attractive for it's own sake, and allow the gear to be obtained in another manner as well.
I love the Creation tomestone caster set.
Sailor uniform is the endgame of all end games.
I'd pay 20 on the mogstation to see an altered version of this available for my healer. Minus the heels and a bit more covered.
Recent designs are just horrible and make it pretty clear they expect people to glamour because they can't seriously be thinking anyone will wear the abominations they call gear?

So basically people just want more THOT gear for their catgirls.
The Genji sets are god awful, I have no idea who designed them. The winner of that tank gear set design, I actually don't mind it at all. I feel the AF sets were very well done with 4.0 and the Ala Mighan tome gear was unique, but the raid gear is so BLAH. Also, I'd like to see some difference in male/female like the latest AF gear. Some males look too feminine with heels and some armor is SO bulky on females they look too frumpy.
Its because they're both a reference to something.
The tome set in particular is based off the winner of the gear design contest for tanks.
I hate the new tombstone set and the genji set EXCEPT the healer hat, which is very very time mage esque and is going straight on my Astrologian.
People ask for genji armor, SE gives it.
People say genji armor is terrible and say that the design is bad (for a genji armor, really ?)
Don't worry, you'll have more different sets later. Keep in mind that you can't please everyone. I personally like genji and tome gear.
Personally, I like both sets. I don't really dig metal armor normally(Xenobian was the first metallic armor glamour I've ever used) but I really like that they're trying out different designs for gear! Still like my Scion gear on SAM, but maybe I'll finally change my Arachne glamour on NIN... which I've been using since 2.4, haha. Best million Gil I ever spent.
Please no. ;u; We have too much damn stripper gear already, sometimes it feels like I'm wandering around an odd middle eastern styled club.
I'm pretty okay with the gear we have at this point. The gear from Castrum Abania is really good, the Sirensong Sea gear (while not new) feels fresh because it can be worn on jobs that weren't able to wear it before, and I actually really like the Genji gear. If anything I'm surprised that I dislike the Creation gear, because I quite liked the contest winner's design. But, not everything translates well from one medium to another.
That's a stretch.

This outfit is a complete mess. It looks like they tried to mash together 5 different styles into one outfit and then just gave up. There are plenty of other designs that they could have gone for without crossing over into your "THOT" gear.
Except, the person you quoted literally has a post above them showing such "Thot" gear.
Also, this gem in the very same thread we're talking within.
Not to be that guy, but being that guy. The sheer number of half-naked catboys and male roe running around tells me that it swings both ways on people wanting revealing gear. Maybe not in the examples in this thread, but there are plenty of examples around.
Personally, I'd agree that the Omega armour looks pretty terrible, especially coming off the heels of the Ala Mhigan armour, which I'm extremely fond of the fending version of. I don't mind the Lost Allagan stuff, but I feel like the dyeable version will help it significantly.
Hi Skivvy, obviously as you say, it doesn't. Nor does it really address the point of the reply that Erryk is referencing out of context. That reply was a jokey reply intended to play on the stereotype of bikini armor. I thought that was clear to everyone at the time. Granted, Kos does wear bikini armor sometimes, but to be honest that's more of a reaction to the annoying gear designs that boil down to being encased in metal armor that makes me look like a dude, or in lighter gear that is simply drab to look at. Up until yesterday, Kos was wearing the PLD AF gear, though today she glamoured into the Shisui.
Erryk You should read the post you references and the context it is in. It's clearly a fun reply and not entirely serious.
I have posted numerous times that I would like to see feminine armor, that is armor suited to the feminine shape and style, that does NOT mean bikinis and stripper heels thank you very much.
for example ;

And this being a perfect example of what I mean given that it was part of the tank gear design contest here (Note: this was my favored design in that competition, I was disappointed when what appeared to be more Allagan gear won the day);

Or perhaps something more fantastical (though this look needs a skirt);

ErryK you and I have participated in similar discussions before, I would have hoped you remember those preivous discussions and know that I am hardly advocating female gear become hoochie gear.
Humorous reply aside (along with pictures for the heck of it), what I, and I suspect a lot of other female players characters, would like to see is armor that is designed for the feminine shape without simply being billowy, translucent and bikini like. That's not to say that revealing armor is unwelcome, it's very welcome, but given how little actual gear there is in the game that is even remotely as revealing as the Shisui set or the Colosseum set, you can hardly make the claim that there is already a lot of stereotypical revealing bikini armor sets in the game, nor that there is any kind of threat that there will be any time soon.
Aesthetically speaking, I honestly don't see how people can complain about bikini clad Miqo'te females when there are near naked Roes and Lala's roaming the cities of Eorzea; all day, every day. And especially because (if I remember correctly) nearly naked Roes were once used as a form of protest against a group on a JP server - flooding that group's home with Roegadyn males wearing only small clothes and using skintones that match the small clothes precisely. Quite effective they were too, or so I remember.
Fair enough, but with the amount of near-naked catgirls and dragongirls I've seen on my server (and a few others), it appeared legitimate.
But regarding your main point, the biggest issue with Square Enix is it's that they have to walk around eggshells when it comes to sex-specific differences between gear. Either they don't do it (Hellfire Fending and Striking sets) or they do it (WHM LV70 set, Dragoon Lv50 AF set), this is where the issue lies. If separate, one side might complain that "Why do I have to deal with this" or "Why does this look weird on this sex but not this one?", it's a huge issue that would be solved if they just made a "feminine" set and "masculine set" that dynamically changed depending on race and sex.
Regarding that situation, it was to protest something and was done so on purpose, so that to me is beside the point of 'better looking raid/tome' gear being 'hoochie gear' as you put it.
I myself sometimes indulge in risque glamours, but the difference being, I don't go around asking for more of that kind of gear and use what's available in the game as is.
You're correct, the only reason I mentioned it is because it's probably the most famous example of how players can manipulate characters to appear close to nude. But, clearly it's not typical.
Personally I'm OK with a little bit more risque gear for both genders, however I see that as something that needs to be kept under control since we don't want this game becoming some kind of "Second Life" in Eorzea. Though, I would say that well designed and well tailored gear with a sense of style that works with the shapes of each gender would be very welcome.Quote:

It's not an either or kind of thing. There is a vast range of options between fully encased in Metal 'tin can' armor and on the other extreme bikini armor consisting of strategically placed scraps of material. I'd like for SE to explore that range, and create gear that people want to wear. Lately it seems that they are instead sticking to heavier armor (whether metal or cloth) and creating gear with drab colors that people actively want to glamor out of sight.
As do I occasionally, and nor am I particularly asking for more of it either. But I'm also not opposed to it being added, since it is clearly a desired commodity. Personally I would like more 'mid-tier' armour sets in between, like the below quote.
One of my absolute favorite sets in the game is the Orthodox/Dravinian fending set, the one that we got the dyeable version of at 64. Functional, yet stylish.

I want stuff like this.
I just wish they would use different silhouettes for some gear. While the detailing varies, everything generally looks the same these days.
That said, I like the job specific gear. Verity is OK.... The rest I do not like so far in SB.
No more healer robes and coats! SE please give the healers some armor like some heavy armor PLEASE!
