Anyone else notice the Whm is using an emote with their weapon out?
I'm praying that they allow at least 1 materia to be attached to this armor. If not i'm afraid it's probably going to end up being town armor. I can understand a restriction on the materias placed for this unique/untradeable armor but not allowing any at all, will render it useless. (I want to look like Kain man!)
Is the guy using the bow/harp wearing a backless dress, leggings and high heel shoes? Also...bow/harp what a joke.
Imo the paladin/knight sword looks just fine, since it looks sorta close to 3D representations of legendary weapons in IV DS, and more specifically XII (which has art done by Akihiko Yoshida).

That and it could just be the scaling based on character size.
Warrior is based off Beserker/Viking jobs. Maybe Beast tamer/master to a certain extent.

I think thats a female elezen. Also we've got gunblades,gunlances, among other things...why now a harpbow? :p
EDIT: Nevermind, was a female midlander, but my point still stands.
^
That's pretty stylish. Good stuff.
I like it, kinda reminds of old school Amano art. Krausus, where'd you find that?
Wow do you know where I can view that file or other .dat files if its legal to do so?
i think the hood down or up on the WHM can be achieved by using a morph target that can be toggled with the /head display on or whatever the macro is. or to have a rig in just the hood would probly do it. though a morph target seems to make more sense, but it would have to have both models loaded just for one person, so in that way a rig would probly be more benificial for the system, but it is doable
Hume female is looking good in that barcher gear. I don't even want to see a male in it.
I love the AF, it would be cool if they did something so I can improve the stats of the AF once it technically gets out dated.
Do want Paladin and Dragoon very much.
There is also the possibility that the WHM is the only one in Passive mode and doing an /emote but i doubt switching to Active will put the hood up. Maybe.
P.S. So many jaded players here, maybe its time to hang up your MMORPG hats? Its not healthy to get that upset at a Barcher weapon or hood up/down or don't like the colour of something. Idk.
I read something on the WoW forums awhile back: "Once you start giving into your players, they'll feel entitled to whine about anything and everything even a spec of misplaced dirt in your terrain bitmap that they'll demand be changed or shouldn't exist."
Funny enough, BRD used to be able to attack with their Harp in an older FF game, a Bow-Harp is most fitting given how people want XIV to be a generic MMORPG that copies others, Ranger class tree almost always branches off into Bard, Jester, Dancer, Gypsy or Entertainer type classes.
Needs more scotch tape.
That Paladin sword is sexy. A bit on the large side, but sexy.
Is ANYONE reminded of the Diablo 2 unique "Lightsabre" when they look at that Paladin sword? The texture and general look of the sword screams that oldschool unique. And guess what - the Paladin in D2 was one of the BEST classes to use Lightsabre with (max Fanaticism aura Paladin = crackspeed weapon swings).
I want a bigger picture of the AF so I can droool longer at Dragoon and Warrior AF =P
Cynicism aside, the limitation likely being referred to is the engine rendering it properly, while the engine is a cinematic engine (CT, currently) it'd take some work to have a 'hood on-hood off' sequence to work and look properly.
It's not a matter of "some simple geometry and textures making that much of a difference" -- It's a matter of execution, and if it's laziness, why do you think other MMOs haven't really done something like this before? The more detailed, complex and in-depth the MMO the less likely you are to see it done because of one simple reason: Memory.
This is why not every MMO out there has done it yet not because the developers were being lazy, but because there's legitimate reasons as to why it's not done as a standard.
When it launches, it won't be possible for WHM to wear their hood and the WAR to put down their mask, but the dev. team is working their hardest to get the specs just right so that you guys can choose which way to wear them in version 2.0. ;)
Glad I lucked out cause I don't like hoods lol
Very cool, also please make it animated and realtime not *character flash* its down *character flash* its up, etc.
