Standings of Black Mage, Red Mage, and Summoner

I personally think RDM is the only caster that's fine right now.
SMN needs some DPS buff and/or quality of life changes and i'd like to see BLM get some DPS buff too so BLM becomes the caster version of SAM. No (or almost no) utility but high damage.

My suggestions for SMN:

SMN should have physick replaced with sustain.
Enkindle should be uberly buffed and summon a Demi-version of the summon to use it Signature move.
Raise should be replaced by another dot, or unique SMN debuff.

Leave the cure and raise utility to RDMs its part of their job identity, make SMN the better pet/dot Mage it's a perfectly fine identity.

BLM needs to do what it always did, and that's fling out insane damage numbers, in exchange for lack of mobility and utility. They need to crit hard enough that you can feel the impact on that mob. They should be the highest DPS of the casters, when they get a chance to turret. They should definitely be above RDM for that role, as RDM has such high mobility. SMN, needs some buffs as well, possibly in either DoT potency, or Pet potency. With the loss of a DoT, and Shadowflare being adjusted, their DoTs should eat at a target. Yes, Ruin IV is great and all, but what's wrong with having a lot of power in their non-filler abilities? Their utility has already been gutted, so unless you want to bring that back, which will still pale in comparison to RDM, you need to adjust somewhere, and simply boosting Ruin damage won't feel good for anyone.

The reason blm are askin for raise is because we are the ONLY caster without it. Why bring a Blm when we offer nothing the other classes can?
We don't have buffs, a rez or even worthwhile dps.

I dun want any darned rez. I have RDM/SMN and the three healers that I've always played for that.
I want to set the whole world on fire. Like, napalm or a nuke.

Please no, just no. No, a thousand times over. BLM does not need a raise or a heal. At most it simply needs the Fire IV 20 potency reduction reverted. Maybe a quick casting Blizzard IV, or damage increasing umbral hearts. Or more potency put into Thunder. There's a number of things that could be done to bring it up to where it needs to be. Not a raise, anything but that.

Putting raise on BLM is the most creatively bankrupt "solution" to BLM that doesn't address any of the real problems. You'd end up with a caster with raise that is the most punished by mechanics. Keep raise away and fix the core mechanics of the job and retain its identity.

BLM with a raise? Are you guys serious? It is a BLACK MAGE, aka BLACK magic. Why don't we let monks do dragoon dives and let warriors cast holy magic too now?

BlizzardIV doesn't benefit from Astral Fire buff. Therefore just cut its casting time by like 1/2 or 1/3. This way we can make use of hearts properly. Also give back our old spell potencies.

In HW PVP BRD/MCH suffered a DPS penalty if they were not at ideal range for their Weaponskils

Should/Could some (not all) of RDM ranged spells have a similar penalty?

That'd make...no sense, unless you brought that back for MCH/BRD and gave it to SMN/BLM. They got rid of that for a reason I'd like to think lol

I'll clarify just in case the point was missed,

Black Mage performance is contingent on remaining as stationary as possible.

Red Mage is the antithesis of that concept. They already have their melee range requirement, they already are a 'positional' dependent Job. Accentuate this element further with a range positional bonus for a couple Spells. This can avoid some arbitrary potency nerf to RDM down the road.

Black Mage loses performance if they have to move.

Red Mage loses performance if they don't.

I would prefer these nuanced gains/losses for RDM over some arbitrary cut to output.

SMN has their own caveats.

I understand it doesn't make a whole lot of sense though as a gimmick. I just prefer each job to have their wheelhouse based on encounter, try to find some way to distinguish their playstyle.
