It is not a problem with a game's design if not everything is accessible to everyone no matter how little time they allot to the game. Like many things in life, you get out of it what you put into it, and just because you cannot put in as much as you'd like doesn't mean everyone should bend over backwards to cater to your every whim. I'll probably never get it either. Oh well. Let them have their thing as their reward for doing a certain type of content. There are plenty of other mounts in the game for you to pursue.

:rolleyes: I'm one of those people who hunt out of passion given I have the time. I'm happy that you can get to the S ranks, but I personally can count on one hand how many S Ranks I've gotten since SB because of instance zoning and ARR/HW dying too quickly.

The point is, before the tiger mount, there was no reward for hunting besides a handful of lame titles. Now there is. Now we will see a permanent influx of hunters striving for this mount. More people equals less opportunity and more room for those who cannot wait to put a damper on everyone's hunting.
I'm not saying the achievement should be easy-peasy. Keep it 3000/2000 and buff the hunts so they can't be pulled by one/two people or lower the numbers (3000/1000?) if they want to keep the papertowel health bars. There is multiple ways to ease the sheer burden of this achievement without handing it out like candy.

Also, primal/raid mounts aren't on a timer. I can farm Susano as much as I want. I don't have to wait 3 days between each run to try again.

Hello. I do most of my hunting in "not now" times -- right now is the very worst time to be hunting. Everyone and their mother is hunting right now. Soon enough it will die down and then be easier for everyone. (Even though I run the oldest, most active hunt LS on Balmung, I don't even have my "kill all 4.0 A ranks at least once" achievements yet. The hunting is just too bad right now for me to bother with.)

How many I kill a day and how fast they die depend. I like killing S ranks. Even when I don't need anything from hunting, I enjoy going to help kill them. So, if one pops and I'm both online and not busy, I go and help kill it. But sometimes days go by without an S rank popping (or at least popping when I'm online). As for how fast they die, it completely depends on when it pops. What time of day, what time within the expansion. Near the end of 3.0, it actually took a long time to kill S ranks, because no one was showing up to kill them. And, in the very beginning of 4.0, we had S ranks wandering around for more than 24 hours because there weren't enough 70s yet to kill it.

I'm more for complaining about us Brits not having the cloud mount yet -- that's unfair. This is just something you'll have to fight your ass off for, like Invincible or the Onyxian Drake.

I'm fine with buffing hunts, honestly. Scale up hunts to the latest expansion each time, or at the very least to the expansion prior. They have severely diminished aggro ranges to begin with, so it shouldn't be an issue, and nobody should more than a visitor to level 50 at this point. In particular, Allied Seals are going to be an issue if they don't do something, and while I'm finishing up the seals for my last mount speed scroll, it will be an issue for those who come later. Since it's a legitimate in-game advantage, I'm more inclined to care about the plight of those who can't make it.

I'm glad we agree on this! I'm sure there is no one would complain (although I could be surprised) if all hunts were brought up to level 70 so griefers can't grief and the achivement becomes an achivement for those that put in the effort, not an achievement for the lucky and/or selfish.

There are people who would complain, actually. I saw at least one person in one of my LS and one other person on the forums who were rather opposed to it because I guess some people are still living in ARR.

Also, I just personally found the Garlok and still didn't get full credit because it was pulled so quickly. ;_; It probably died within 45 seconds of spawning.

People hated on hunts since day 1. I liked it and kept hunting. Early hunters are going to get rewarded sooner than later for their persistence of doing content that was hated. I don't see anything wrong with that. I accept I won't get every item this game has to offer.

The PVP mount was already bad since it was limited in time and number. Even if you did your best you might not even get it and as someone new to PVP you probably stood no chance to get it. Seeing how some people used alt characters in the higher rankings too, it was even less of a chance. If you want to look at a good incentive just use the Garo event stuff. Suddenly people were doing PVP on mass and the recent changes should be also quite good to keep it up. Putting a mount behind something so limited (only 100 per datacenter or something like that?) is imo no way to get people to play it. I am quite sure that most of the people that have it are those that already play it enough. (If you are new and have not that much time to spare you simply had no way to get this so why should one even start?)

Hunts already have quite the rewards. Lots of pets, scrolls and other stuff is put behind it. It would have been alright if you had to buy it with hunting currency so people could do their daily hunting stuff and maybe some other kills along the way. This way people will hunt and its not something impossible to get. And no someone that wants the tiger mount but barely did any hunting till now will not get it done in the near future. Depending on the time they have we are talking about years. Heck someone has already done the maths and showed how long it will take. So they are only giving this mounts to a very small amount of hardcore hunters. (I mean you enjoy it and yet you are still far away from it too) (And there is nothing fun in hunting for me, you go search for a monster, have to wait for a whole amount of people and then zerg it down and afterwards maybe even getting yelled at because you did not wait for the last player to arrive.)

Well people can work on earning MGP on their own or even do the mentor roulette but with hunts you are forced to wait for the S to pop and hopefully be on when this happens, gets the tell when it happens, be there at the place when it happens and do enough damage for it to count high enough. If you could spawn your own S monster which certain items that you can farm then it would be way more reasonable and could be done at your own pace.

No, it shouldn't be adjusted. It is suppose to be something nearly impossible to get. This is coming from someone who will probably never get that mount, event though the moment I saw them I wanted it as a mount. But, there are somethings that need to be left hard to get. Why should people get stuff easier when other's had to work their butts off? I would be rather annoyed to have worked so hard to get something only to turn around to find out there was an easier way to get it. This is one reason I stopped playing another MMO (Riders of Icarus). At the beginning getting certain mounts was so rewarding cause you had to grind/make stuff to get them, then they went and started handing them out like Halloween candy.

There are always achievements that will have stuff that the majority of players will want them, and few that will have it.

we'll have 4.0 for the next atleast 2 years, so you have 2 years of time to get that tiger. Its nothing that you are supposed to get within a month or two, its a long time goal

20 people from 200k are really not that much. Not even 1% of the players are owning this. This is only a long time goal for all time hunters, this is nothing that casual players will be able to get. Hunters already have lots of stuff to buy with their marks and this mount was wanted from a lot of people on this forum.

Basically if this is going to stay the way it is then S ranks either need to spawn more frequently or need a special extra trigger so people can force spawn them outside their windows. Aka give us something for Allied / Centario Seals to make an S rank spawn. Then we can actually farm them. Or make it an item that drops from maps or can be purchased via tomestones.

Before early access I was wondering if the Tiger mount was an achievement for collecting all 3 tank mounts... You know, that it will help out with the dps queue and stuff :x

Well that's the point of rare items. It suppose to be rare where only the truly dedicated can achieve them. If a mount can't be a rare item than what exactly can be a rare item? There will always be something someone wants that is made rare. Are all you people suggesting to never make any rare items?

I can still be rare and grindy without taking players 5+ years to achieve.

The point is to make it extremely hard. Most games have at least ONE really difficult achievement to obtain.

Except that this achievement is not extremely hard. It's just extremely time consuming for no reason. The problem is the RNG behind the achievement. Are you lucky enough to be online when 1 of the S ranks spawn, and are you lucky enough to make it to said S rank before it's pulled and killed.

Think of this through the eyes of a brand new player, that's just gotten to 70, was this a conscious design on SE's part with those players in mind (not just the ones that have been doing hunts for a few years already). Were they really expecting new players who want this mount to dedicate 2 - 5+ years doing mostly hunts and not partake in other aspects of the game because this achievement is so heavily time gated.

If SE wants to keep the current kill values, I'd rather see them add purchasable items (via Seals as mentioned by others in the thread) to force spawn S ranks in addition to upping the health on the current mobs so that they're not instantly killed.

It obviously doesn't take 5 years if 20 of the most dedicated player already have it. The Hunt was released 3 years ago to the date. If you want it, you have try for it. I give up certain in game activities to achieve others. Most likely the same goes for any dedicated Hunter, PVPer, Raider, Crafter or Gatherer in game.

It takes 2 1/2 years of non-stop dedication. The players that have the mount already weren't doing much of anything else; minimal pvp, minimal dungeons no hardcore raiding, etc.

It will take 5+ years if a player does 1 S rank a day each day (luck if you can be on when it spawns, luck if you can get there for the kill). This total is for people that want to be able to do other things in the game in ADDITION to hunts.

Wanna try out chocobo racing, sorry gotta be ready for a hunt. Wanna try pvp, sorry gotta be ready for a hunt. Wanna try raiding, sorry gotta be ready for a hunt if you want this mount in less than 5 yrs.

That's not true at all. I've checked other mounts of someone who has the tiger, and he has A12S mount, Firebird, Astrope, PvP mounts, even new Ixion.
If someone really wants something, he'll not look for any excuses, he just gets it without complaining.

1) Those multiple instances are temporary. So there won't be multiples popping across instances because there will only be 1 instance per zone.

2) You shouldn't have to pick just 1 thing and devote 100% of your time to it, you should be able to enjoy other aspects of the game. Currently if you attempt to get this mount, you cannot do that. The players that choose to participate in things outside of mindless hunts have a minimum 5 year wait for a tiger mount. Working towards an achievement (any achievement) shouldn't take 2 1/2 - 5+ years. Again, that's asinine no matter how you try to spin it.

As mentioned before, if SE is unwilling to lower the kill requirements, they could add a purchasable item for centurio seals that will force spawn S ranks in addition to modifying their health pools so they take longer to kill.

Well if tiger owner has a mount for 2000 Mentor Roulettes and achievement for 5k kills in The Feast and for 200 Frontline wins then he certainly doesn't dedicate all time to Hunts.

It's a generic tiger mount. I'd rather not spend my life getting it.

And you need equivalent amount of free time to grind it out as well, not something everyone might have. In the end it boils down to the personal view on exclusive rarity, there's no really right or wrong answer to that imo. While I'll still be working towards the 3A2S condition, I wouldn't complaint if they lower the bar a little. Then again, I'm never one for exclusives so it might sound bias. :/

Also, for the people who argued regarding the disadvantage (or rather, lack of head start) for the new players, I direct you to take a look at the recent change to the veteran rewards. Not exactly the same thing, but it's kind of similar to the discussion in this thread.

To be fair, some people that have this mount are notoric cheaters to get hunt popup messages and/or also snipers that also kill said hunt marks secretly without even announcing it (thus fucking up tracking of the open windows for others). This is exactly what the achievement rewards. But sure, "super dedicated".

That aside, while I think the requirements are ridiculous, I'm just gonna ignore it cos the mount doesn't seem worth the trouble. One of the suggested fixes I'm in favor of though would be raising the HP of ARR and HW hunt marks just like they did for ARR when HW launched. So people can't just go and solo the old S ranks to screw other people.

PVP mounts (not only the limited one) and mentor mounts are already quite the long term goals for lots of people. We do not need even more stuff like that. Especially if content like hunts already have enough items behind them.

Then this person has way more time on their hand than most people. So should only people get it that either dedicated all their time from the very beginning into hunting and people that are playing the game x amount of hours? This mount was wanted by quite some people so I just find it bad to put it behind something probably not even 1% of the people will have at the end. Seeing how we often get reskins or mounts that suddenly just have armor on them on the other content this really feels bad. They put all their time and resources in creating a mount that barely anyone will have and yet they can not create the stuff that lots of people want (bunny ears and things like that) because it takes somehow too much time.

Only Achievement I care about atm is clearing POTD floor 200 solo.

The same argument was used for the veteran awards as well, and now there's a new system in place instead. Not commenting if this achievement should be adjusted (or not), but there's a precedent case in terms of time investment for the new comers so maybe we might see changes in the future?

It's pretty much an achievement designed for you to spend large amounts of time on. Whether you spend that time all at once (no-life it for lack of a better term) or spread it out over months, maybe years is irrelevant. There is no effort to be put in. Only time, like much of anything concerning video games, whether that be vanilla WoW or FFXIV.

This is very interesting because SE already has the stance that "early pulling" and such is not against the ToS. One could argue that someone spawning and not sharing the location of a S rank now disrupts their game play by denying them the chance to complete an achievement. No other single achievement can be directly denied by the actions of another player without breaking the ToS. And as their ToS states, disrupting another players game play is a punishable offence. This has be something worth addressing even if nothing changes.

Let's say you hit 1 S Rank per day. It takes almost 66 months to get 2000 kills. With $15 monthly sub it totals to $990. That mount is worth $1k sub. Correct me if I'm wrong :o
