It isn't Balmung whining but everyone else because we're unwilling to transfer. The last several threads about queue times, complaints and etc have all be created by people from other servers.
delete balmung.
Best thread about balmung so far. I'm serious.
Delete OP's character
What I think they should do (although it's most likely a long term thing) is any account that's been inactive for a certain amount of time, let's say 3 months or so, should be flagged for automatic transfer so that if and when that player comes back they should get a dialogue when they're logging in to transfer their character to a new server.
I think something like that might lower the population of the server a bit.
Brb ran out of popcorn don't vote to kick yet plz >.>™
Delete Internet.
Did I win?
Delete real world and start again
Put Balmung on its own data center away from the other servers. That way they arent affected by its congestion and problems.
You do realize the "congestion problem" is only on us, right? Putting a server on it's own data center wont fix the login queue and will kill anything that is cross-world (aka: data center wide like the duty finder).
Also, why don't we also put Gilgamesh on it's own server? They have queues that are almost as bad.
Since shortly before SB launched new characters and transfers have been disabled on Balmung. The population can only go down (Furthermore transferring out of Balmung is currently free, comes with a fistful of gold chocobo feathers and no gil transfer limit to encourage people to move).
if Balmung gets their own data center, then the Balmung people will get into DF queues faster and everyone else will get into queues longer. sounds like a plan! How much of the Tank population is from Balmung?
This is what I heard from people who transferred there. I do not have an alt there and nor do I want to transfer there (that community is part of the reason as well). I didn't include apartments because they're not the same as a plot. Though if they're mistaken and there really is "a ton" of plots there, then I'm sure more people will transfer just because of the plots, or the fighting chance at the new ward.
But Balmung is a containment server and cross contamination is bad make a Balmung II I guess.
Do people think before posting threads like these or is it just akin to projectile vomiting anything that comes to mind?
Alright I'll humor you OP. Lets say they did start forcibly removing people from Balmung as you want them to. Who gets booted? Random players? Players who haven't logged in since ARR, since a certain patch in HW? You know SE won't do that, hence why they offer the incentives to leave instead. If they started forcing people off the server it would be a nightmare. Since Balmung is huge (and a few other servers just as large) you immediately have a large chunk of the player base that will be angry. You think people being pissed during Early Access was bad? Square won't cause they know it would just cause headaches. All they can do is offer incentives to leave. I only know a few people who have taken it but only because they had little connection to Balmung.
People wanted on Balmung because it was made the unofficial RP server, as is Gilgamesh (so I am told). If SE had tagged other servers to be RP, most likely Balmung wouldn't be so large.
No server comes remotely close to Balmung. It's double Gilgamesh which is the next highest. But this is Squares problem for allowing paid transfers for so long. But I'm willing to put up with queues for a few weeks until things calm down unless all the housing and stuff me and my friends have invested in is refunded in full. and a new spot is guaranteed right where we are now, which cant be done.
According to the June 2017 FFXIV Census, Balmung is just under 20,000 active people and Gilga is just over 15,000 actives, so no, Balmung is not double the size of Gilgamesh.

Whelp OP, I have the perfect solution for you.

The census stats it does not include players not past 3.3 content, that's pretty high stacks to be an adult in FFXIV.
Do you know how hard it is to move entire FCs? Small ones sure! large ones...not so much. The incentive of moving an entire FC is not worth it. Balmung or not. Its a damn a headache. Especially if you have an FC house. Because you need to collect EVERYTHING thats in it.Then go and disassemble your air ships. And IDK...its hard enough having inventory space! So your inventory on top of an FC inventory... Not to mention all of your members would need to demolish their rooms, after collecting all their things. Thats a cluster and half.
And sure you can claim #balmungproblems. But It's for any large FC really or anyone thats had to move large subsets of people.
And then you also have deal with everyone bitching about now instead of having Balmung Refugees...they now have Balmung Deports....
I feel there is a some horrible joke in there were I am supposed to end this with #makebalmunggreatagian.
but i think that would confuse you all as a Balmung person making a Balmung joke! GASP!
That site isn't accurate. Lucky Bancho uses a much better criteria. Keep in mind, these are pre-Stormblood numbers. The fact Balmung had no queues and shot up to the numbers it did suggests a lot of people came back. Another census done just prior to the server closed showed Balmung had an increase of over 1,000 characters too.
