[SPOILER Discussion] Tataru's WoL outfit?

I like it, it's a nice small reward for players to finish all of HW story content. Heck they didn't even have to do it with all the glamour options available.

There was another thread with plenty of requests for it, like the Aymeric dinner scene so the dev team does listen.

I understand your point, though I disagree it isn't fantasy themed, if anything this goes in line with what the main characters wear in other FF games.

In the end I'm sure you know if they designed something more of your liking other people would have had similar complaints to yours, as they can't design something that pleases everyone.

FF has had school themes in the past such as with VIII and Type-0. From XIV I'd say it most closely resembles Alphinaud's new outfit. He at least looks to be of school age.
I was hoping for something more along the lines of what Y'shtola and Thancred got.

depends if its dyable & "what" parts changes if it is (& how the dye changes it): if dyable so giving the chest part to MCH as it fits my military theme more than the new-ish tome chest, if not I probably will still give it to MCH just change my glam colors to match rather then the prefured other way around

on a sub-note Japan has a noticable trend to use "uniformed" outfits in a lot of their games, I say "uniformed" as the origional "School uniform" was based off of military Navel uniforms & they have a tendency to use not just "School" types in a game but military, law enforcment & medical uniform's under the same "trend"... which is mostly under "Comical or joke" bonus outfits, thou some are added in a diff way that makes it seem normal (like the one in OP's post, as it looks of the same artist/creator type as what Tataru made the others, so if its a gift from her to us it makes sence)

I like the outfit, but like many have said those outfit were made for Midlander M/F, Mi'qote M/F and Au Ra F.

I think Lala M will look fine, the top isn't too far from wind silk and you can find similar bottoms. Lala F? not so much.

Tbh it's kind of nice to get something a bit more casual that fits in with the other scions.

I like it except for the tie. I mean really - who wears a tie except when they are forced to (uniform, work, etc.)? At least loosen the darn thing.

I've glamoured over 99% of the BRD gear in this game. This is no different. It can gather dust in the armoire with Alphinaud. It doesn't suit my idea of a WoL.

I wish we were given the option to reject these sorts of things in character with all of the resulting fallout. I would love to see Tataru's tearful disappointment as my character dropped the clothes on the ground in distaste. I would have loved to reject Aymeric's awkward, creepy advances. That dinner/tea/whatever thing was painful.

The WoL is not a true Scion. The WoL is a tool, much like a primal. A terrible, destructive tool that has been used to take countless lives in the name of the Scions of Dawn (actually, there is a an achievement based on number of lives taken). The city-state leaders only approve as long as the WoL is on their side. The hidden deal is that the Scions must monitor the WoL closely. When the task is finally done, it will be their job to vanquish the WoL in the interests of all Eorzea. In the end, the Devil must be put back in Hell.

No worries. If the lore gives any kind of foreshadowing, we're destined to "disappear" just like all previous WoLs. Whether that means defeat, death, or simply traveling on to our next big adventure, never to return, that's part of being a WoL.

Not confirmed but I think this is the last MSQ we'll have before Stormblood so it would make sense

I don't care for it. The jacket screams acid washed denim at me.

Thancred, Y'shtola & the twins are dressed more in line with the Shire tome gear than the street wear we're getting. Honestly its not that I don't like it as much as its a little plain for me.

I've got no real beef with the girl version, its asymmetrical skirt/tights are cute. But the dudes' regular ol jacket + pants combo looks a bit boring imo. If the top had coat tails or was asymmetrical I think I'd like it more.

Honestly, if you think about how Tataru is basing her outfit design then people can notice Tataru's designs are actually base on Sharlayan Society design. Y'shtola was made to suite her theme of being a Mage and the Twins followed more to travel researcher gear from Sharlayan.

Sharlayan Society is largely based on Academic theme so the basic gear design goes into more School theme appearance, Mage, and researcher of different cultures. Heck i would not be surprised if Sharlayan has a High School Combat Academy that uses outfit design close to this once we can enter Sharlayan.

Thancred, however, is not one of tataru's design thus he was given a more thief looking gear from a traveling merchant if you recall his Nutkin incident.

Yeah, all her designs prior to the WoL's fit the Shire look, which I imagine are based on/inspired by Sharlayan fashion. The healer top is pretty much a unisex, dyable Y'shtola substitute.

I understand SE needed something generic enough to fit any potential job a player uses, but what I'm trying to get at is that the design we're getting lacks the bells and whistles that other Sharlayan inspired clothes have.

I just don't want any of this outfit to be re-colored gear that we already have.

Guess it is just based on preference when it comes to the outfit.

I am more use to this type of outfit in character design since game like the Legend of Heroes series have characters wear similar kind of outfit style in combat.

It just stands out to me, like "one of these is not like the others". Even in your 2nd and 3rd examples, the more ordinary clothes have bits of fantasy elements tacked on (cloaks, shoulder pads, side-skirt flaps etc). Tataru's WoL set is just lacking that little pinch of fantasy imo.

But in the end, I don't hate the designs or anything. I wish they had a smidge more oomf overall, but still plan on using bits of the set :)

For Alphinaud and Alisae's design, we can't really deny that their current designs are by far better than what they wore for 2.0

Alisae's design completely made me awe.... except that color cringes me is all.

I hope we get the replica outfit of that in a dyable color version considering we are getting Krile's outfit soon.

Well, it already got answered. Thancred's outfit wasn't designed by Tataru while Y'shota's looks pretty caster-ish. They needed to put an universal outfit to designate the WoL.

I find the boots look more like massive sneakers for whatever reason. The rest is... okay. Jacket I could make work for something cute, I wager. Just not really wowed by it though.

Hmm, the shoes are vile so I'd deffo swap them, depending on how the skirt shows on my fem roe i'd swap that as well...and monocles are a big no no for me, so I'll be using some other form of head gear...
