Kind of disappointed with the spoil exchanges, was kind of hoping for more... mounts, minions, maybe some other more useful items like, ventures, the rarer dyes, maybe scrips... there's plenty of other stuff they could've tossed in there. Also noticing people bailing as soon as the reset time is done or the main objective is finished. Either the reset time and instance time should be same amount of time or maybe the can be some kind of bonus objectives once the group finishes the main objective, something to keep people around longer, maybe for 1 lockbox each or something like that, the fates dont really cut it. >.<
I despise it. The whole nature of how the place works is antithesis to me, and hazardous to my health.
I ran the original once.. and found it terribly boring. I've ran the 'new' one once... and my opinion hasn't changed.
Not really a fan. It's not bad, but it's not good. It exists.
I like the idea of having people do random stuff (minus FATEs) for the main objectives, but people just rush through it to start grinding FATEs to pop Boss FATEs or leave. The FATEs don't give Anima Light either (which is a huge oversight), and often the rewards are just awful. The only time it feels like you're making real progress is when you do a Boss Fight once every 10-20 minutes. Further, the fact that you can't invite or kick party members is another oversight when there are lots of people who decide to give up. The Diadem itself feels like a huge zone filled with nothing but things we have seen already, but with a new coat of paint. Yes, it's a huge zone, but when 75% of it is empty space spread out across tiny islands, it's not fun to traverse- especially if you're in a hurry.
Emergency Missions feel like lukewarm attempts at FFXI instances where things are overly stacked against the player and one false move can ruin it for everyone, which is particularly damning when these Missions are so rare.
I feel like the Diadem should just be a new zone by itself unhindered by instances, so that people could go there and solo or do things with small groups between actual content. It does not lend itself well to actual raid content or to team play. I like the idea of exploration and searching for treasure, but while there are incentives to do this, they seem beaten out by the hivemind of "need to kill all FATEs" that SE has also forced, so it feels like no one wins in the end. I hope they continue to update Diadem and fix its problems, but it's something they need to work with fast.
Could have been good. Could have been at least better.
But SE fell back on their old FATE crutch. The same crutch the playerbase has been complaining about since....2.1 I believe. No idea why they still try to force FATEs down our throat. It feels lazy to me. FATES could possibly be good, but they need to make them better dynamic events.
Also being in their the entire time twice without a single boss FATE spawning the entire run. I can see emergency missions being a lil more rare but I should not go the entire run without 1 nm pop. Took a group of new people in during one of them, not sure if any of them will go back.
It needs more sinks for the currency gained there - especially for people who already got the mount the first time around. It does a good job at making certain relic weapon related items more accessible by offering up items that can be exchanged for crystal sand. Outside of that, though, the markets for pretty much everything gained there have already crashed on Balmung so it's hard to make much in the way of a profit. I think they should add more stuff there as semi-rare/rare rewards. Stuff like the Morpho minion which can only be found in the Lost City of Amdapor (Hard) at the moment. Some Triple Triad cards, too, so people can gain a little bit of MGP or expand their collection.
I've experienced the mini raid and after four runs I got the pegasus mount so I'm pretty much done with it (I'm not a minion collector so I'm not farming those). If we can still enter at level 60 when stormblood arrives then it will be great for levelling our off role jobs to 70, but as it is now its pretty boring.
Boring. The Emergency Mission might be fun, but the party I was in couldn't clear it because apparently we were the only alliance in the instance. Plus, I can't believe people don't have any problem with the way maps look: there are no signs or symbols that can help you understand if the position marked by a player (or a quest mark) on the map is on the island you are or above or below. This issue has been here since ARR, it got worse in HW because of flying.
I like the gathering changes.
The emergency mission is ok, but its going to be really difficult to do as time goes by because you need a minimum amount of players to succeed.
It's boring when it results to fate grinding, hoping for an emergency mission to pop up.
When you're fate grinding, you're doing the exact same thing as the old diadem. Grinding mobs for broken lockboxes is not going to keep people playing it.
This content is quickly gonna die for non gatherers. For gatherers, it's amazing for grinding blue scrips.
Well I ran the original diadem which I already found boring and only ever went there as a gatherer after I got my mount..I did three runs of the new diadem and already feel like not wanting to run it anymore. Will do more runs with a friend to show him the diadem but other than that..I already got my dino and pegasus pet and I will watch the MB for the hunting hawk pet.
In the end I find it even worse than the old one. At least with that you were constantly trying to farm monsters, with the new one most people just complete the objectives and often drop out after that..some wait another 15 minutes but all of those three runs I am all alone at the end..on my third run the emergency mission started at the end of my run and being the only one of my group left I kinda felt bad. We did not manage to beat it and after that I just went on and did some fates.
Really most people will just stand there and wait for a boss monster to spawn instead of doing more fates. So I fly around trying to look for other groups that I can go along and get at least some more chests out of my time there..but its mostly just waiting or searching..
The mission itself might be kinda fun but its way to harsh for something that is done with random people and only spawns sometimes. We were not enough people thanks to most people leaving after the objectives and thus we did not stand a chance. Its also kinda sad how this destroys the market again. Like it wasnt enough that palace of the death already drops random pets..no we will also get them in diadem now. The same with materia..
In the end I am just shocked that this change took them one year..most of it is just old content being put in there (fates, and the big monsters are like hunt) and the missions are just too rare to be really much of a selling point for this content..I have the feeling that it will get old quite soon, since you can farm most rewards with only a handful of runs, the mats are barely worth anything anyway so one can just buy them from the MB and the weapons might be just too much RNG to keep it alive..and if less people do the content it will become impossible to beat the mission..
Make the Emergency Mission 100% spawn rate at the end to give people something to look forward to at the end. Doing so will also allow people to get more time on the encounter to learn and get better at it. As it is now, its so rare that many have never seen it and given up on Diadem again, including myself, which is a shame. I was really looking forward to it, hearing how much time the devs spent on the Emergency Mission but I am not going to grind for hours for a chance to see something that has a high probability that nobody will show up to do or will wipe in the first few seconds.
very useful to the game materia markets are going to truly crash as a result and grade 5 materia will be in reach of everyone who plays not to mention it makes getting mats for crafting a bit easier and its decent enough content to run with friends
Trials of the Matron is 10/10.
One word: boring
Whole concept is boring. Few objectives followed by fate grind with rare chance to get "emergency mission". And this mission is built in a way that 1-2 Leeroys with no brain can screw it up for everyone (which happens in 9 runs out of 10). Whoever thought this is "fun" was wrong. I hoped that rewamp will make this place somewhat appealing but so far I have to say Diadem 2.0 is worse then original one.
