It will not give me incentive to join PvP. I do not care for it at all, I will just wait till the MGP vendor is added. Nothing they do will get me to join PvP.

so MGP not till march huh? hopeful not 60lvl set like the pvp stuff cause that bite as few jobs don't want to lvl that high and if you need all set achievement for the 3rd mount most likely won't be getting it if that is the case anyway
Eh, as tempting as it is to push through the pain for the dyeable's, I'm just not sure I can. The garo non heavy gear does look really good but, 14's pvp is just such a snoozefest. Dunno if I could farm so much for them. Think I'll prolly just wait for the MGP version ;p
None of the gear goes into the armoire, right? Then it must not be a limited time event? I was kind of thinking this was like the ilevel 160 gear from Tactics Orge. They've got a new artist, and they are celebrating his involvement by putting his favorite designs in the game.
Good for you. However the common census is that pvp queues are a lot more populated, and dare I say fast, this patch, and Garo is a big part of that. Pomelo is right that the MGP vendor would be extremely detrimental to the pvp surge.
They official word is that the event will be "longer than yokai" (Tokyo fanfest is the source), which in my opinion means that it will be available throughout 3.5, right up until stormblood is released, but no longer than that. Considering this is a collaboration, I find it hard to believe that it would be permenant.
Why don't just do PvP? I've seen a lot of suicidals running into the opposition side to get killed, to end the match in 2 minutes. They probably put some rubber band on their analog stick to do so.
They say 3.55 was in february but the story will continue in march if i remember correctly
Loving the PVP surge. My queues went from 10+ hours (not even kidding) to 10-20 minutes, and I can fill up on 8v8 Feast much faster if I want as that has almost instant queues (it was dead a week ago). I don't really like 8v8 Feast but it certainly beats standing in Limsa looking at the marketboard and waiting; maybe I'll actually get more skilled again now I can play more than two games per week.
It would be great to know the plan for the event though; if the titles are staying PVP-exclusive I need to start levelling my unloved melee jobs since I can't actually equip some of the new gear yet. So it would be nice to know if I should be prioritising that instead of just wallowing in the tempory PVP revival. I even saw Seal Rock again the other day. I'd missed it!
It's a shame that they don't offer an alternative method to get the dyeable version. There are going to be others like me, who have no idea what to do or how, with a life expectancy of twelve seconds, just waiting for every single death (we're bait), taking a spot in the battle from someone who might genuinely care about pvp.
And once I have the pieces I want, I'll happily drop pvp again, because it's not fun. It's an incredible bore.
More to the point, this is not the first time that PVP has had exclusive rewards...every season of Feast is littered with them, Frontlines has had what? 4 separate gear sets with no way to attain them otherwise besides Wolf Marks, AND three exclusive mounts to boot (even if one of them is a reskin of the other). I don't understand why people are complaining when THIS particular set of PVP rewards is actually way more accessible for people who don't like PVP (with the MGP vendor being added in 3.55) than any other PVP reward to date.
Well, all criticism is valid, I guess, even if I don't understand it. Maybe some of the people who are unhappy with this event can explain to me why this one is different from the other PVP-exclusive stuff we've had before?
For what it's worth, there aren't enough people who genuinely care about PvP to keep things populated and running smoothly. That's precisely why they've connected to this event to PvP and (as we can see from some of the comments in this thread) it's working very well to help correct that.
Thank you for the confirmation. :)
I'm going to echo what others have asked and request clarification about the length of the event. At the moment the GARO equipment cannot be stored in the armoire so I'm hoping they are permanent additions as keeping them all does not seem realistic without renting additional retainers.
You are lucky to get an alternative at all. The devs chose this as pvp content, and that is something they are well within their right to do. Should I demand an alternate method to get the archon chair because I don't like the gold saucer? You can do the entire event on frontlines and feast 8vs8, which A) means you have no obligation to be good as there is no large detriment to losing, and B) You can learn how to PVP in a good environment to do so, because for once the queues aren't impossible to get through (you know... because there is no alternative, so lots of people are doing pvp). Or if you really hate pvp that much, then there are other gear sets and mounts in the game calling for your attention :)
Any chance of MGP version is for all jobs?
People are misunderstanding. I can think it's a shame that there are no alternative options for the dyeable gear, but that doesn't mean I'm shrilly demanding an alternative be made. I'm perfectly aware it's to attempt to have more interest in pvp.
I'm bad at it, I hate it, it's boring. But if I want the dyeable, I'll suck it up, paint KICK ME on my back, and go tank the graveyards. If I don't, I'll wait for the mgp version, or not bother at all.
Please don't attribute motives or actions to me that don't exist. I didn't ask for an alternative. I just think it's a pity.
Yes, I have big issues adding the event like this without adding space.
with 4.0 I hope the additional space makes up for all the time we been lacking it (3.0 + content) armory increases that should existed when ninja + jobs were released, PLUS adding what we need to FUNCTION in 4.0. space adding and MORE equipment slots is WAY behind. If you expect us to have PvE and PvP gear per job, crafting gear, gathering gear, etc, GIVE US SPACE to hold it.
I expect 50 slots per equipment slot, remember we are getting more jobs, I don't have room for my weapons as is CURRENTLY for what I need.
I am doing it for the dye-able gear and the mounts.
I hate it. I loathe it. People are rude and I keep dying.
I can not wait to finish and then never set foot in PVP again.
I am super disappointed that we have to wait for the MGP version and that it's not dyeable either. Don't put collab events in PVP again please SE.
For what it's worth, I never assumed anything about your posts; I took them more as a simple statement of fact. My question was more in general - how did you react to the previous PVP exclusive rewards? Did you obtain them, or ever have an interest in obtaining them? It seems like there's a lot of hubbub over these Garo items that simply wasn't present when other PVP-only rewards or items were announced.
Will the undyable ones still give us the Garo achievements?
I appreciate that. The written medium is very hard to judge.
As for the previous rewards, I didn't have an interest in them. Most of the gear is either job specific, and so useless to me for glamour, or is so incredibly gaudy, I want to stab my eyes out.
But, other people like them. If they want them that badly, just do it. It's not the end of the world.
If I wasn't a fan of GARO you'd have to hold a gun to my head to make me do PVP. I can not stand it. Period.
I do not like the concept, I do not like the implementation and I do not like the attitude of people IN PvP that I have encountered (apart from Joe Never Fails).
Others are welcome to enjoy it but I am only here for the mounts and gear as a GARO fan then I'm out and it will take a hell of a big thing to get me to set foot in it again. Why a crossover event is in this content I don't know but they should have had the MGP vendor out a the same time if it's not dyeable there.
Super noob question: is the pvp gear viable for PVE stuff as well?
I was hoping more along the lines of a variation on the instanced dungeon, maybe one that follows along the GARO themes. Kill X amount of demons before the timer runs out because in the story, the armor can only be worn for a certain amount of time before it starts harming the wearer. Imagine a gauntlet style battle where you have to kill as many as possible in waves that get harder and the further you get the more tokens you get. Adapt a few of the enemies from the series for some new enemy models and it could have been awesome.
At this point, I think they went with the PVP option because garo armor = wolves and pvp = wolf marks and wolf themed titles.
Hey everyone,
As we've been getting a lot of questions asking when the Garo collaboration would end, we wanted to share some comments made Yoshida during the recent 3.5 Patch note reading broadcast. He mentioned the event is set as a long-term event, which is over 6 months long, and it will last even after the release of 4.0!
You'll have enough time to collect a full set of gear, and work towards the mounts!
Thank you for the further information. :)
As this event is in fact temporary are there plans to make the gear storeable in the Armoire or buyable from the Calamity Salvager?
The achievements encourage aiming to collect every set but it isn't practical to keep them with XIV's inventory issues.
Or, perhaps, some sort of instanced dungeon along the lines of the temporary Halloween instance that we got last year?
I'll admit to knowing nothing of 'Garo' or 'Yo-Kai' but I do think it's a bit silly to associate tedious grinding with what should be a chance to encourage people to become interested in checking them out.
