I still don't understand what was wrong. The pics showed up just fine on my end. Anyway, to get a dev to respond to this would be nice.
I think this will be something to look forward to if it is something they are still planning on doing.

Hotlinking is usually disabled for many sites. As for the multi colored, unless they say so it may not happen since the previous system was multiple colors = different stats which fit perfectly with Yoshida's original concept design of 'light/dark wizard' using the same outfit, now that people hated that system, it may just be one or the other.
Pssh I'd rather change the WHM red triangles to other colors. Red triangles doesn't look nice with some colors. Enemy WHMs in tactics games had white robes with blue triangles and it looked pretty nice and looks more WHM-ey than the white parts of the robe being other colors. I think a good compromise would be something like that, the smaller details having different colors rather than having outright new colors for the armor.
They could add something light really light colored hues for whm instead (kinda like how blue is really light on cotton armor). So blue triangles with a really light blue hue for the rest of the robe. I think would look really nice.
/bump .
Bayhone? OPOLADY!!? FOXCLON!?!?!? I BAKE YOU COOKIES.

I've confirmed with the dev. team that they won't be making it possible to dye job-specific equipment in the future. For some people, jobs and their equipment hold a special image in their minds and there might be those put off by the fact that the image can be altered by being able to dye them multiple colors. We want to maintain that special image by keeping the equipment uniform.
However, in the future, it might be possible to release different colored job-specific equipment as new items.
Good, go back to the roots ^^

I like the idea of the first JSE to be very traditional looking. We should be getting upgrades that replace it someday anyway so I'm happy with this decision.
Thank you for keeping up a few FF traditions :D
Good, it was a stupid idea to be able to dye artifact gear anyways.
If I want to play my bard as a vibrant and flamboyant trubador, then I should be capable of looking the part and having multiple colors in my gear (IE. read head gear, green shirt, blue pants, and pink shoes) I chose.
If I want to play a dark hearted dirge, I should be capable of wearing a solid black set of gear if I find it fitting and appropriate, (or a black hooded bear for that matter) hooded gear needs a whole other discussion with it having less stats then helm/breastpiece in the first place, not to mention after you add 2 materia to the previous, yet can only add one to the latter.
They will probably release palette-swapped JSE or AF at higher levels later. If they released the first JSE and allowed players to dye it whatever color they wanted, JSE that looks the same but is a different color then the first rendition would have less of an impact when it gets added eventually.
Let the early stuff be traditional. The later stuff can have more color and more bling and the lower stuff can be for traditional dressup party.
Indeed -- While people want FFXIV to become a competing MMO by copying every other MMO, giving it a defining FF look and feel is what can stand it out (why else would want want to play Final Fantasy XIV: Online?) -- Besides, XI's AF sets from the first to the latest AF2+2 or w/e are all defined differently in color and style but keeping the same general image, so down the line it'll no doubt be more open for customization.
The thing is, people see one set and think that is it like FFXI.
The way it looks, it seems like dev's have the future of the game setup to have tiered gear. So I am imagining they want to out date AF armor and put in better, more powerful AF, like other MMO's do.
No fact to back that up, but he did mention he wants to out date gear every few months.
Did they actually state that it would be called artifact gear, or did someone just make the assumption on the name?
They used the term 'AF Gear' before since it's a familiar term to many to give people an idea of what type of armor to expect in a way, but it wasn't stated to be finalized as "Artifact Armor".
I wouldn't say that allowing AF armor to be dyed is ignoring the minority. If they don't want to dye their AF armor, that's fine. But don't let them dictate to the rest of us what we can and can't do to our armor just because it offends their sensibilities.
By the same token, you can argue that it's truly not that big of a deal to be able to dye AF armor, and that therefore the devs' decision to restrict dyeing is frivolous.
More customization = good.
If AF is the best thing you can use, the everyone will use it. And if you can't dye it, then everyone doing end-game content will look the same.
As much as I would like the gear to be customizable I'm fine with keeping it iconic classic colors because it adds some sorely-needed series familiarity. Customizing the Job gear colors was never ever mentioned by the devs either so I don't think anyone really expected it. I'm willing to bet many people are in the "it would be nice if this happened but I don't mind if it doesn't" camp.
You could have just said that you don't have time to do it instead of giving an excuse. There are multicolored AF in the data files.
Plus, the topic is customization. Not different tiers. Different tiers should be built upon in how they are structured and not just a recolor. That's just laziness.
You have proof that "a majority" of the player base played FFXI ? Thats partially my point.
Sooooooo, yeah it matters in my opinion. Way too many posters already make assumption on these boards, then pass it off as information and create waves of misinformation. Much like I would believe your claim of knowing that "a majority" of the player base came from FFXI is assumption, and quit possibly false assumption at that.
Therefore I asked, because I would much rather be ignorant to the facts then to stupidly believe alot of information thats false.
