Then they did not do a good business plan.
If they still need money after our sub there are 2 explanations :
- The fee is not enough aka they have to many ambitions
- The money is not used how it should be ("given to other departments, shareholders whatever)

One way our another, not our problem and not our responsibility to pay if they did not anticipate. Tones of games survived with only one system sub or F2P, going for the 2 of them is just being greedy IMO

I agree. This game is updated pretty often and we get tons of events. I believe that we also get more items per update than we used to back in the early days. It's not like the cashshop is pushy or getting updated often with exclusives; quite the opposite. So if it can help the game grow, or at least maintain its current influx of updates (which isn't exactly scarce), isn't it a win/win situation for everyone?

So you are saying you are ok to buy the game, pay the fee, pay the extra fee for extra retainers, pay the expansions and pay the exclusives in the Ca$h $hop ?
About glamour, aren't you a little bit mad that they keep reusing the same outfits again and again and again (even for the last event we add a recolor !) while putting original ones in C$ ?

To be fair, we know from FFXV's development cycle that money made through FFXIV isn't necessarily going back into FFXIV. Sometimes it goes into other projects - which is good in some cases but arguably bad in others if those projects are blatant cash grabs.

I believe the developers aren't to blame for that, though - since the Mog Station supposedly isn't controlled by Yoshi-P.

We get a lot back for it. I'm okay with paying for all that. The game is obviously needed to buy to play it. The fee ensures that all the servers can keep running and let us get constant updates. The extra retainers, while being really really useful, are not a necessity, the expainsions contain a ton of stuff so you can't expect not having to pay for them and the cash shop is optional (though at least the /playdead emote feels like it should be in the game...).
The moonfire outfit we got was highly requested, and while I originally was a bit dissapointed by it too, I personally love it! It is the same base as the shisui set, sure, but it is reworked to look more like a swimsuit and you don't need to grind the same dungeon over and over, plus you can dye it. I'm glad we got it.

We've had more original gear from events than the Mog Station.

Don't like them. It makes sense they put exclusive traditional items to the countries they are doing business in. After all the Korean and Chinese markets are separate from the "vanilla" game. They can give them as much traditional content as they want. People make way too much fuss about those items. But fear not you will be able to spend your real money when they come to Mog Station.

I really want the hair piece from the female set. Don't care for the rest, but that hair piece ;A;

Are those outfits all in their cash shop? I mean those regions are also paying a sub so they are milking them quite hard with all these cash shop addition..is this still a P2P game because with all the cash shop costumes it really feels more like F2P for me...

Also I am a bit upset that somehow they are not able to give us a unique nice looking outfit for the summer event and yet they can create one outfit after the other for these regions..if these all come over to our cash shop it will truly be the biggest one from all the P2P MMOs..not sure if that is something one should be proud of..

Yes, why not?
I'm not spending half on thiis game than I used to spend on "free" to play games. I don't have extra retainers, we only get an expansion every two years, and the vast majority of cash shop updates are items we could get ingame at events, so I barely use the cash shop. The last exclusive we got was from... three/four months ago? I don't see how this game is as demanding money-wise as you mean.

I also don't see them using the same outfits again and again; don't we get several brand new outfits with every update?

Where you get to choose whether or not you spend your money. B&S never forced me to buy the game, neither did Rift or more recently The secret world legend which is why I never saw anything wrong in buying from their C$.
Here I have to buy the game, pay the sub AND use my wallet to get exclusive costumes or even more inventory space. Sorry but I personally don't like being treated like this.

Can you please tell me during which event you got the Moogle mog mount and the korean outfit please ? Was it before or after the Chinese dress and Y-shtola one, I must have missed them....

B&S didn't "force" me per se, but considering that glamour is one of my favourite things, I had to spend way more for a single outfit (non dyeable and unable to be combined with different parts) than I do for a monthly sub here. And I definitely have more fun playing FFXIV and its huge variety of ingame glamours, payiing less money every month, so I feel it's a very worthy investment for me. Sorry if it's not your case, though.

And there you just named half of the short list of exclusive items our cash shop has gotten for the past 5 years. Outrageous; with SE adding 2 or 3 exclusive items per year, I'm unsure of how I still have any money left for food.

For the record, I bought the Moogle mount and the /playdead emote. I don't really care about the other items so I didn't buy them. We get way more ingame items and emotes in updates/events, so my glamour needs are well filled without the need of the cashshop. As you well said, you get to choose whether or not you spend your money, right?

PS: The day SE starts adding tons of exclusives to the cashshop (and I mean an actual tons, not 1 every 4 months) and fewer ingame, I'll be the first one complaining.

Eh... The very existence of the cash-shop bothers me, but there's no getting around that at this point; that ship's already sailed, crashed, and permanently damaged the watershed.

As I will never spend a cent there, at this point I'm just beginning to regard anything released in the cash-shop as non-existent or completely unobtainable. As far as I'm concerned, there's no actual way to get any of those items now, be they exclusive or re-releases. So whether these regional items make it over here or not, if they're cash-shop only, it's no different than them never releasing them at all to me.

At least with F2P games one would accept lots of stuff in the cash shop since its their only income..yet in this game we have it on top of that. (And lets not talk about the prices) Anyway you might not buy much from it but if someone is a collector and wants to own all minions and/or mounts in this game they will have to pay real money for this (cash shop, rl events, promotions). Its really frustrating as a collector to play this game, so I just gave up on having a whole collection..but its really sad that this is necessary in a P2P game.

[And please dont forget that these event items are old for only us. If someone is starting right now and want something like that they will have to buy it for real money. So everything in there is new for them and thats a lot of stuff.]

They are using all the dungeon gear again and again. Even if it does not make much sense. (Why is the thavnir set a crafter leveling set?) Yes we do get some new outfits in patches but seeing how many new and unique outfits the other regions get..well thats just saddening.

(This is just my personal opinion, as a player who feels very comfortable with the way FFXIV has treated me so far).

But F2P games don't get half the updates and ingame stuff FFXIV gets for a cheaper monthly fee (>_<) I'm definitely getting more for less, that's why I'm playing this game and not any other.

I don't think that buying a random costume every few months is going to ruin anyone's economy. People talk as if FFXIV's cashshop was being updated often with tons of new stuff, but I don't think that's the case. The huge majority of its updates can be obtained ingame for free! Any collector would sure be doing the ingame events.

That's why they are event items. They are supposed to be a one time thing, which you can only obtain if you participate in temporary events; every game or real life business has this kind of promotional, temporary gifts. In the past, if you missed any event (like Halloween or Lightning Returns), you simply missed the items forever. I for one am thankful that they eventually added the means to obtain them years later, isn't it better than nothing at all? People who didn't miss the event got them for free, and the rest still have a chance to obtain them AND also help this game earn more money, which translates in more updates for everyone. I think it's fair!

I for one want this game to keep earning money, not to earn less. In the end it's us the ones who will enjoy all the new updates that were only possible so long as the game is profitable. As I said, the day SE starts adding more stuff to the cashshop than they do ingame, I'll have issues. But so far the cashshop is very light, with very few actual exclusives.

Last but not least! Think of the cashshop as extra merchandise, like the lore book or the real life plushes from the SE Store. They're an extra for game fans who want to buy game related things. They help the game grow, so it's cool with me.

About the events: This was changed. At the beginning you could get all the old event items again and it made sense. Not only could people that missed it get their hands on all the stuff, but a lot could also be sold and you did not need to stock on certain items because you knew that it would be back again. But somehow they changed it to something that would make it worse for the players. (And on top of that the prices for these event items are horrible..how much for one single destroyable chair?)

About more content: I am fine with that, thats also the reason why I pay a monthly fee on top of the expansion. This money should then be used for the game. Putting cash shop on top of that and introducing more stuff in this is just way too much for me. I accepted it at the beginning (even if I never liked it) but suddenly they went from event items to real exclusive items and even mounts to jump potion. I know that this is kinda off topic but seeing how one region gets even more of that exclusive stuff while we dont even get a unique event item..it just really saddening.

I once bought lots of merchandise, even with the amount of shipping costs..but thanks to their finance descision and putting more and more stuff behind expensive items (Odin emote for example) I will not buy anything from their store again. They just crossed a line and thus even if I would really like some merchandise from their store I will not support them anymore with that. I have a friend that is really into FF and also plays this game a lot but he is really on the line of wanting to quit. His good opinion about the devs and the company really turned sour with all the decisions. (Ingame but also about cash shop) SE really needs to be careful how much they will put behind region exclusive and the cash shop because there might be a point where it will become too much for people thus they might lose money.

Is it fine that you see it different? Yes of course. I am not here to change your opinion or anything like that and I dont attack anyone that buys those things (I mean I did it myself too) but I am just getting a bit annoyed at SE itself.
