This doesn't effect me as i do have a group but just let people matched there's no reason not to allow it, you can keep the difficulty the same but at least let people try it.

I don't mind the fixed so much, but after clearing 100+ with a group at least let us (re)start from there.

Trouble is, they're "summer" friends. Some're on here, some're on there, some're on when they're on and there's never anything observable that denotes anything like a schedule. Some of the time they're there, some of the time they're not. Some're busy, some're afk ...
There's nothing there to try to make a consistent PotD group out of. Yet that's exactly what this "start at 51 and climb as far as you can" calls for, a consistent group. And lets not get started on those who say "brb in 5" and aren't yet back after 50 ...
Do we have to have a clear run without deaths and a fixed group to do PoTD 101-200? Also do we have to start from the 1st floor?

You need to have a fixed group of people starting at floor 51 and get to floor 100 with 0 K.Os to enter 101. Any K.Os in 101+ also results in a failure and you need to restart at floor 51. Also any D/cs count as K.Os which results in failure.

If you want to participate in 101+ then yes. You MUST have a premade created before going in. Through the entire 150 floors starting at 51. Matched 51-100 doesn't count.
This content doesn't seem to be very "savage" therefore I don't understand the point of gating us to only fixed parties. It is just such a disappointing decision.

One wrong move can indeed cause a wipe and its game over.
I like it how it is..idk doing this in df sounds masochistic. If se does allow this to be df, I await the thread's complaining of the trolls and ad players, etc...lol
I did 51 to 120 today with some group in PF then someone had to go so that was as far as I got. It didn't really seem all that hard or anything past 101. But then I only got to 120. Stuff has more HP yes but that is about it.
Still not sure why its not in DF with matched parties. The bosses are no where near the level of savage bosses and I do savage. I have to agree it be much easier to do if it was in DF.

If you think this is 'casual content' then you don't know what casual means. Dungeons are casual. Story mode primals are casual. Generally anything where a clear is guaranteed in a short amount of time is what qualifies as 'casual content'. Something that takes up to 15 hours of solid gameplay to do, and have it reset to 1/4th of the way through that if you so much as wipe once (with a lot of mechanics and enemies that can straight up kill you from full health if you don't handle them properly) is not 'casual'.
It eases you in. Even in the early floors though, hornets will one shot tanks and you have to avoid things.
Get to 140+ and you'll see the difficulty go up quite a bit. I'm still convinced the reason this is limited to a fixed party is because of pomanders. You really need these things at times, otherwise the mobs and certain bosses will wipe the floor with you.
I never thought I would see the day when 'having friends' is considered a rarity in a social multiplayer game. I'm sorry but...that is really funny to me if I am understanding your post right. Maybe you should make some friends in your FC or something...? It's not hard.
It's a degree of context. In absolute context, yes, i have lived 31 years, and never found friends who share my most passionate interests in the real world, try as i might. Well, except once, but that's another tale. Perhaps in that i am unlucky, but that absolute degree is certainly helpful when you're talking about the whole run being dead should anyone leave or be unavailable.
In terms of meeting people and developing relationships from the in game world and then potentially out, it's inevitable over time, and one of the most rewarding aspects of the game. That said, i do have two friends in game that i will be running this with, despite my earlier comments, but my stance should be unchanged.
The whole concept is built around having a save file and that you must be at 0 KO's to proceed.
Furthermore, the game tosses you into a purgatory room after each 10 floor set.
I would advocate for it simply being in duty finder, but i can live with the idea of forcing parties to be made in server...
Just so long as you can replace people along the way....
Let people congregate in the purgatory rooms or shout for party in Quarrymill FFXI style.

Signed. I don't have the ability (or the desire) these days to dedicate a fixed schedule to a video game. This means I have to PUG everything. I accept that it should be more difficult for me to complete content. I do not accept that it should be impossible.
It's really not that bad, they probably could have allowed matched up to 150 however they would probably need to force at least one healer. The outgoing damage gets sort of high at 140 & 150. At 150+ however, any dodgeable/gaze telegraph starts doing a lot of damage if not dodged and potions are pretty much useless since their auto attacks do as much or more as one potion use and the potions have almost a min+ cd.
There are some single trash mobs that are almost immediate run enders if you get jumped by more than one and no raising pom, luring is especially dangerous. Rage poms are mostly used if there are 3-5+ patrolling mobs (this actually happened once, got boxed in) or luring is triggered.
Duoed with gf up to 171 and we are barely making the time limit to clear sometimes. We have to skip a lot of boxes now and you need to kill a ton of mobs to open the portal sometimes.
4 person parties with a healer that are careful will have a much easier time.
It would also be nice to start at floor 100 but I don't see it happening...

I am just not really sure why SE should care so much about people farming it efficiently for accursed hoard if they allowed to start directly for 101. They already showed that they dont care much for the long term value of an item and these hoards have RNG behind them so even if you farm dozens of them you still only might get some firework.
And why should SE or anyone even care if people want to bash their head against it with randoms? Just make it so that you had to at least once finished floor 51-100 without any k.o and after that you can try 101+ with a matched party that also managed to do so. They could make it that if you have a party wipe you will start again at 101 but if your party win you can try to find people that are also on this floor. This would still make it quite punishable if you loose but not so much that you have to start from 51 again..
I dont have many people right now that are interested in doing this and even if I find enough people we would have to go through 51+ without any k.o. (and d/c counts too..) and then start the grind of the 101 floor. The problem is not that you need a fixed party or have to start again at 51 if you die..the problem imo is that its both of these condition that we have to meet at the same time...If this is truly savage than most people would have needed quite some time anyway to get through it even if they have fixed party but started at floor 101/111 and so on like all the floors before that..it kinda feels like its not truly savage (maybe just the last 50 floors) and that they needed some artificial gate to lower the completion rate.
Agree op, my reasons:
1.Many FCs are dead, it's very hard to find people now.
2.In JP server, Japanese players don't like those English speaking players, they call us "外人“ (foreign guy)
3.I am just too lazy to make a group
4.This game is not FFXI/FFXIV 1.x, it's theme park, everything should be cute, easy, fast & soloable(DF),

I'm pretty sure someone already posted this but you *can* do it solo. You just cant have any deaths and have to do it solo all the way down from floor 51.
I dont know if anyone mentioned it yet, but in floors 101+ phoenix feathers are replaced with potsherds, which means that you'll get a potsherd every 2 or 3 chests, which is a free tier 5 materia of your choice and counts as reward for doing the 51-100 part
letting people start in 101 would just COMPLETELY destroy the market value of those

This is how it works, they observe conversation, monitor feedback, relay info to the devs and in patch 3.46 we get any adjustments that the devs deem necessary based on feedback (In 3.36 we got adjustments to silver chests and +1+1 when you beat Edda as an example). The mods won't post unless they have any valuable information that needs to be shared.
This is normal policy, and is for the best so that conversation is not skewed and so that people don't misinterpret mod input as confirmed changes before the devs have even finalised the adjustments.

Potd will die within a month due to such harsh restrictions on even entering 101+ ppl will get tired of gettin to 190+ wiping n having to start from 51
Not talking about me i dont have the time to sit there n run 51 to 150+ in 1 session like most groups want.. im lucky to get 4 hours a day playing due to real life commitments
So its impossible for me to even attempt it due to rediculous restrictions they put in place
Here's a perfect example of how the system is broken:
I ran POTD with others last night for 9 hours (with one 30 minute break in between). Around floor 120 or so, our tank had to go take care of something urgently. After 10 minutes, he gets auto kicked and can't get back in.
When we clear that floor set, there's a message that says something like "one of the players is offline, you can still leave but you'll have to restart from this floor if he's present." Okay, great - no complaints there. That's fair.
But here's where the problem/bug
Our screens show 0 KOs but his shows 1 and he can't return.
We got to floor 160 (the Odin+ boss) without a tank before we wiped.
Shouldn't the system have let us start from 120 as long as the other player was in the party? OR not have let us progress to 121+ without him? Else why would it show that message?
people are able to organize 8 man savage raid groups, which run several times per week. If 8 people are capable of organizing this, why shouldnt 4 people not be able to do so?
Open party finder and make a static for this content, then you dont have to do it in 1 run
