Yeah, I don't know why what kind of people he's been hanging around that have fecal matter in their beards....

However, I can say for myself, and others I know, that a beard is very easy to keep clean and attractive. I think it's odd to just assume that anyone with a beard is filthy.

I don't care much for beards/mustaches on characters either. All of mine have faces as soft as a baby's bum. :)

As for my character. I have a black cat in real life named Storm, so he's kinda based off of that. And I love blue eyes, so there's that, too.

I did that too! My miqo'te is based off my black and white American shorthair "cookie kitty," Oreo. I'd like to make a sun cat in the image of my ginger tom buddy, Faramir, but I'm out of character slots on Couerl.

I've always liked beards on guys, and agree that the stereotype of "all beards are dirty" is a little crazy, too. It's as clean as the man wants it to be. Just like regular hair.

Plus, guys get the option to trim and style it as they like, again, just like regular hair!

A little ruggedness goes a long way!

I never liked beards either - but my hubby has one and even I admit it suits him much more than shaved. Some guys benefit from a beard.

I don't know if it was trolling or what, but I got hit on twice yesterday while playing my alt here... At first I thought it was someone on my friend list from a long time ago, but both were total strangers. My alt has existed since launch and it was a first... All I know is if they were seriously flirting, they would have been seriously disappointed had I decided not to ignore them ;p

She's a cat girl. Of course the nerd creepers are going to be over her. Sorry to hear that, though. It always feels really uncomfortable/awkward to get hit on playing a female char.

Well society mentality is, "a girl" - start to flirt or say something that you think sounds nice, but the girl(s) might not share the same opinion-. I can understand straight guys will find it awkward, but: hey, you are playing as a girl in front of everybody. Mistakes can happen so just clarify it and tell them, "Hey bro. I am a dude." Some people might say. I don't care your character is hot. I want to "whatever they come out with" or other people will say "Oh, sorry, man" (internally: eww).

The reason to why the "eww" is because the straight male players want to eventually flirt with the person playing behind the screen because they want to cyber, get goodies, get a gf, etc (pick your options). If a girl makes a hot character, the male player won't bother because his goal is to get to know the girl behind the screen...now if you meet a gay guy now he can be the one doing "oh gosh a girl" =p OR they become BFF.

How many cases have we seen of women and men (girls or boys) falling in love with people's personality. A lot of people got depressed when they learn the person's true gender, but they should have asked before they start to get attached to that -character and the person behind the screen-. AskaRay, I think your character is hot.

I'm a simply man, and perfer a young looking character instead of an older one. For alot of reasons, the biggest reason is I like the idea of a young adult saving the world. You don't get that enough, I also like the fact I choose a female character to do that. Often time it's always a -male- saving the world and that gets boring to me after the million time I seen it. And I don't mean some silly girl either, woman can be badass as well... sadly american tv and such doesn't think so. So with that in mind I made my character to reflect those views.

I created my miqote female alt solely because in the dvd that originally came with ffxiv in 2010, there's an interview with Nobuo Uematsu (whose hand I've had the enormous honor to shake and my life is complete) and one of the questions he was asked was what race he would make his character if he played, and he said Miqote because he would want to play a character as least like himself as possible. Throw in that Miqote were female-only at launch and boom. She is cute though, I'll just deal with it. ;p

This is a good case to ditch the pronouns and use "they","their", or the character's name unless they actually tell you otherwise.

I think we're misunderstanding each other xD. Or me, you.

I'm trying to say if she had made a character that's good-looking I would say "she" is good-looking but what I am meaning is that her *character* is. Not *her*. Because I'm just overlooking the fact its a she. If it was a guy character though and it ended up being another woman I wouldn't be effected because the *character* is still hot. Is what I'm saying lol. Sorry if it's confusing.

Oh I get you. I think I was talking about me. Once I know the person's gender. The character won't matter at least I'm talking in front of friends then I will refer to them according to the character's gender.

So far, women don't tend to be affected by the players gender. It is mostly men (be it straight and sometimes gay) because they are looking for more than just in-game flirtations or just want to make sure the person behind the screen is their preferred gender.

Your character looks great! You are also right. Being happy with how your character looks is the most important criteria.

It's one of those things that you read and scars you for life. It's not the only reason I dislike facial hair, but it definitely contributes to it

Also, as a former healthcare professional, I can tell you that e-coli gets everywhere you touch. Not just beards. That's why it's super important to wash your hands after you use the restroom and never touch your face if you can help it.
