The point brought up is that yes it is original. Think about it, we have 5 race "skeletons" that we can justifiably use - Hyur, Lalafell, Miqote, Elezen, and Roe that future races can build on. Au'ra are similar to Elezen as males, and Mi'qote as females, so ideally we want to stay away from those proportions if we want something original (I would say that Viera would be along the lines of Elezen and Au'ra making it unoriginal). What I want to see is ANYTHING that is along the lines of the lalafell skeleton (dwarves?), or the roegadyn skeleton (big beastly wolf?).

I have to agree with this. The more races the better even if they aren't the most popular or an ugly race. As far as only sexy races being done they could make the female dwarves sexy as long as the males were thick and burly. It would be sacralidge lol but I could accept that for the mighty power of the beard

Only Moogles will be an acceptable new race

The design cues for the Au Ra came part in part with both more demonic and more draconic leanings. If you look at the progress of the concept art, the ones labeled "Dragon Race" closely resemble the current Au Ra designs.

Dwarves like the ones in FF4 could be implanted as a new tribe, resulting in new tribal quests. But don't expect it as a playable race.
Playing a dwarf would open to the gate to the "when will we play a vangaa ? a seek ? a nu-mou ?".

Be honest, Au Ra are here in place of Vangaas, but would you really play a pig or a sea lion as your main character or alt ?
And don't give the "RP" answer. SE could make items like the actual tribal ones released to make you appear as one of these races.

Again, not everyone plays to look like a sexy top model. How do i know? Just look at some glamours or characters. I can't tell how many characters i've seen, in game or on the forums, with buckets of paint randomly poured on their faces (surprisingly most are Manqo'tes ) with glamours made out of pieces of gear not fitting together and mismatched colors.

So, based on that, i assure you that there would be people who wouldn't care playing an ugly race.

Eh, this is also a game with an international audience. An "ugly" race also shows the devs willingness to actually build a more interesting world instead of more Otaku-bait playable races we got something with more indepth lore and a more interesting look.

So based on your answer, i assure you that some people don't care about their look, either mismatching things or being too much coloured. Because it's their fun and their choice, there freedom.

Also based on what you said why can't we play the tribe races then ? Be logic : take a look at the tribes, and then at playable races. Dwarves, Seeks, Nu Mouhs, Vangaas and other things would be more into the Tribe vibe for future update than becoming a new playable race. See the evolution of thoses races between each FF.

The answer is: because the devs said so, its all well and good saying why isn't this a thing, but it's down to developer choice. it could be totally possible to play as beast tribes within the scope of MMOs, but the devs just haven't made it a thing, I'm sure CUTS3R and myself and many others would be totally fine with playable beast tribe races, they are intelligent to the same level as other races, and we have many allies among beast tribes (hell, the Vath has an "adventurers guild") and it would make sense within the lore of the echo.

The reason we don't have it because of city state lore. The beast tribes are enemies of the city states and the WoL is a key part of the politics of the city states, Au'ra is toeing the line with Ishgard, but to have a sahagin doing politics with Merlwyb would make no sense in the story, and that is why we won't see that. A beast-like race is completely different though, as it has no existing reputation or conflict with the city states

This, however, is also a Dwarf. A short, chubby, and adorable young lady.

They aren't "ugly" by any means. They could easily come from Radz-at-han, Thavnair, or Xelvatol. And honestly, a legitimate "fat" body option would be a welcome edition for a large chunk of players.

And dear God, I need some bearded men as much as the next person. Come on Japan. Bearded men know how to wash themselves! Give the guys the OPTION!

Ok maybe 40 beers and are a blind lalafell.

I realy want something different, but I doubt we will see anything new and fresh. As it right now:

1. SE does not want to remodel the gear for different body-types, this means that we are always going to get a race that has a human like body/feets/hands etc.
2. SE does not want to spend money to create a race that only a minority of the playerbase will play, that is why we got a cute Au Ra and not a demonic looking one.
3. SE adds the traits of the races that the playerbase likes the most, right now the most played race+gender is: Female Mi'qote, Female Au Ra, Female Lalafell and Female Hyur(midlander), for the males, most played males are of the same race and clan as the females.

If alot of players played Elezen, Hyur Highlander and Roegadyn, then we would have had races that looked more unique and less anime schoolgirl, but this is sadly not what majority of the playerbase likes. We must also not forget that SE listens alot to the Japanese playerbase and its a known thing that Japanese gamers love cute characters, Female Lalafell is the most played race+gender over there.

Knowing SE they are going to add a race that:

1. That makes it easy to remodel the gear for them, so expect a Hyur like body.
2. Has the traits that majority of players like, so expect: females are cute and petit and males are strong and tall.
3. Since they can not create a ugly race, expect a hyur with something like animal ears and tail.

I would love to see a Dwarf or a Charr type of race to be added to this game, but as it is right now, SE will not add them. I guess we should be glad that we atleast have Female Roegadyn, because the odds of having another strong butch female character is not going to happen again.

I know that Yoshi-P took note on that cute races are popular ("Ours being a Japanese game, the result seems to tell us that players are prioritizing cuteness, something which I noted with great interest" near the bottom), but has SE outright stated they will never make a character that is considered ugly?

Dwarfs don't require any gear remodeling. All they need to do is shorten the Roegadyn model:

First I shortened the legs, then I shortened the body down from the neck, then lastly I shortened everything. Boom! New race with a completely new body type. Just slap on beards to male Roes and squish them a bit and that's male dwarfs. Thinking about it, it's so little work there's no reason we shouldn't get dwarfs and Viera (elezen body, miqo'te face, rabbit ears). This combined with new faces to existing races would probably please a lot of demographics who play this game.
