This doesn't need to be nerfed yet. If you want a 230 weapon, get your lore, 7 weeks and your done, no fuss, no muss. If you want a weapon, that will carry you through all of Heavensward, do your relic and stop whining. The quest and steps go up with the current raid teir and will carry you through all of heavensward as they release more for it with each step. But asking for it to be nerfed now, its just to early, its only been 2 some what moderate patchs worth of content since the relic was actually introduced. It doesn't need a nerf, it needs people actually dedicated to doing the quests, and if thats not you, go find a different weapon.
Does anyone know what the EU and Asian Players thoughts on the Anima Relics?
^Well I was asking along the lines how they're tackling this part and what's their thoughts on it. Not if they want to have it nerfed as well.
Probably the same way anybody else would do it, a little bit at a time. If you can manage to get 1 unidentified item everyday, you'll be done in 80 days, and thats not counting extras you'll get from tomes and maybe through other methods if you have beast tribes unlocked.
I was asking more if they find it fun while doing it or tedious or anything about the grind itself. Probably NOT as tedious as the JP community are more tightly knitted together on teamwork as they're get along more often than people in the US when it comes to doing content together. Then again if people complaining about the difficulty of AS3-4 beforehand (I doubt only the US and EU were complaining) then it makes me wonder what they think.
Anyway I've been doing this everyday as much as I can and getting at least one item a day, but at times I do get more than 1. Currently at 65/80 items so far. I'm close to finishing gathering the items.
If you spent less time on the forumscomplainingexpressing your distaste for this step of the relic and more time in-game, you might get there a little faster. Just saying. We get that you don't like this grind, but there are easier alternatives available to you as previously mentioned.
Anyways, good luck. =)
^I've gotten 68/80 Items collected so far.
I can multi-task. I was just asking around while playing.
I'm finally getting back my free time once again so I can play for more than 5 hours a day.
Takes around 85 days to get just doing Beast Dailies. Probably about an hour a day for 3 months. Less than 90 hours. Made over 15 million gil selling the materia from the quests too, so the crafted items basically came with it. Still not exactly casual, but it's a far cry from 300. The eso grind in A Dream Fulfilled is far worse. A similar casual pace of just doing an Expert roulette a day will take over 5 months. Easily over 150 hours with queue times. That's just for the Umbrites.
I think they should seriously stop with all the safe pacifistic crafting-related relic grind nonsense, and instead steer it around to where people would need to dive into the savage content to progress (get their lights, sands, crystals, whatever) instead of what's been going on up to this point. The first ARR relics back in the day made us beat Titan as a progression gate. That made a lot more sense than chasing after crafted HQ items.
Because at the end of the day, we sure as hell aren't planning to use our relics to kill some mythical crafting end-game boss, right?
What were the steps of the FXI Relic Weapons? I kinda wish the Relics were like those from FFXI... where they were the ultimate weapon. I don't mind Savage having better gear, but perhaps just armor-only?
Anyway I'm taking my time on the current Relic Step. Helluva lot better than "Coming Into Its Own" in my opinion, but I wouldn't mind more unique events tied to the Relic only.
Those relics were awful to get - it required basically tricking 30+ other people into going into a dungeon with you and letting you have all the currency. They *might* get a piece of gear out of it, but it didn't change the fact that the whole thing was mostly a racket. Folks loved it though. I ran a Dynamis linkshell for a while that shared the currency drops, but people preferred the shells where they got nothing but a chance at a piece of gear and everyone was basically working on one guy's relic. It never made sense to me.
I was working hard on getting my relic in this game until I learned that it's not even BiS for BLM. I mean, it's locked behind this incredible grind and it's not even considered BiS? That's the part that I don't understand. I'm probably going to stop worrying about it and join a savage static in my guild. I wouldn't mind the relic grind staying the way it is if the weapon was as good as the others, but it isn't.
I'm a little disappointed in the variety and number of weapons in this game.
Hmm... I don't know if that's exactly how it worked, but people helped each other in the game and in the end you were rewarded with the BEST weapon in the game hands down. Which is why I wished the FFXIV Relics were like that.
However it was mostly the Raiders that complained about it (even if they were the minority of people in this game) and how some people complained on the Titan HM Fight (due to lag and other internet issues) that they changed the way the Relics work in this game which I dislike.
I honestly think the Raid Content should only have the Best Armor gear in the game and leave Relics as the Best Weapon to get by doing the Relic Quests and the ways to get it. Then again people will complain still, it's damn if you do damn if you don't. SE wants to keep it "simple" and I don't mind, but it's TOO simple and there's hardly a lot of other things to do... not to be mention I hate some of the weekly locks in this game and the 24-man raid content as well.
Which is sad as the Relic is not WORTH the time spent on it for a "casual" grind... more of a midcore grind. I can't even get into Savage Raiding on my server due to a lot of things.
I barely completed the i200 quest and looking at the next step, I already want to give up. Crafting is one of the things I hate the most in FF14 and you have to go through it if you want to advance your Anima further. I like how they give you options for the first set of items you need, but I'm disappointed they didn't for the second set and force you to get it through crafting.
