Oh ok. XD Didn't even see that. I just saw white gear. On one hand thats super left field for them to /not/ put whm in the white gear but also *applauds*. Really like all the sets I've seen so far though.

I can see the choice of gear set being more linked with the Primals abilities and mindset. My thoughts and prediction for the gear sets are as follow:
Fending is Titan: The skin and physique of Titan is made of hard rock which fits perfectly with tanks, it's easy to think it could be Titan.
Maiming is Garuda: The dragoon as the ability to jump and reach great height to reach his ennemis as if they were light as a feather.
Striking is Ifrit: Ifrit is a beast with a burning temper and his ability to dash in a fight is just like a Monk who use energies/chakras to move and battle.
Scouting is Leviathan: Due to the body of Leviathan we can assume that the choice being Ninja is because of his great flexibility and quickness.
Aiming is Good king Moogle Mog XII: I see alot of people saying mog would fit more as healing but personnaly I see it more as aiming due to Moogles being a beast tribe who enjoy playing music (not only that but the Bard storyline says that the soulstone was given by moogles if I recall~)
Healing is Ramuh: Ramuh would be my way to go for healing, he is wise, a protector of his beast tribe (the sylphs) and he doesn't arm anybody unless someone walk into the sylphlands. He has points in common with the Conjurers of the Black Shroud to me.
Casting is Shiva: At first I thought it a little strange but the more I think, it makes sense since Shiva uses a staff during her fight and she seems to rely on magic to make her weapons out of ice aswell as to freeze her ennemis.
I don't think Mog will get used due to the number moogle themed stuff in the game, I think ravana or bismark maybe.
Forget the gear, Do I spy on that Levi Ninja's head, another short sexy hairstyle?
I noticed that, too! Even though I rarely use the new hairstyles, I love that they keep adding them, as it increases the overall variety of appearances. That's incredibly important to me after playing FFXI for so long, where a large percentage of Mithras had the same face and hair. :x
I'm struggling to see the Shiva set as anything but a healer's set, to be honest... do we have a source for all of this? I know it's "from the Japanese", but where is the Japanese from?
It'd make far more sense for casters to be Ramuh and healers to be Shiva, looking at it:
- Shiva's colours are light blues and whites, the latter in particular being most closely associated with healers - casters (particularly BLMs) are darker, deeper colours; purples, reds, blacks etc., like those of Ramuh.
- Lightning is a far more offensive, destructive magic than ice, better suited to casters.
- Shiva's gentle, graceful image matches well with white magic.
- The staff the model is holding is pronged and pointed, more like that of a healer - BLM's staffs in this game tend to either feature orbs or a more slimlined design. That looks like a WHM's cane to me.
- The model's pose is more typical of a healer; casters tend to be shown with a more offensive stance, weapon drawn and so on.
More than anything else, I find it very odd that a non-healer would be in white.
This is my thought as well.
Anyone can see what we mean by looking at the Midas gear pics. They have AST in a very non-offensive pose and right below is the caster set (identical to the healer set other than color) with a black mage staff drawn in an offensive pose.
From a sloppy Google Translate of the article itself:
That's obviously fairly garbled, but the gist seems to be that they got the information from Square-Enix directly as a sort of promotional preview for the publication.Quote:
Square Enix, MMORPG in the service in the PS4 / PS3 / PC : "Final Fantasy XIV Blue Sky of Ishugarudo" has released the latest information updates Patch 3.2 "The fate of the gears" of.
Gamer Escape also did a story on it, but I imagine they got their info from Dengeki, http://gamerescape.com/2016/02/11/ne...rand-and-more/
its nice that they showed us the "dyed" version of the midas gear lol. It looks pretty good though and the pld sword looks dope. Its too bad they didn't show the fending eikon set. Fingers crossed its based off ravanna though it looks like they are basing it off the ARR primal's.
If I had to guess, that's because Gamer Escape got their info from the NA team, which would have given them the localized versions. The NA Localization changes little things like that pretty regularly (the Maiming sets in the Japanese version are actually called Slaying, for instance). I'm not really sure why they change them a lot of times, but they do.
I hope SMN and SCH gear didn't turned ugly >_>
I really hope every class has different tomestone gear again. It's already confirmed that monks, dragoons, and ninjas get to be special snowflakes with their unique sets (for the 20th time), I really enjoyed this last patch and having different gear for all three of my healers.
Black mages throw ice, so it's not that odd when you think about it.
Interesting! Definitely not what I was expecting in terms of the primal allocation. Maybe they were just trying to throw us a curveball :P My allocation would have been,
Titan - Tank
Ifrit - Monk/Drg
Levi - Ninja
Garuda - Ranged
Ramuh - Casting
Shiva - Healing
Tank because rocks, ifrit because str and fire go well together, Levi because water is malleable and smooth like ninjas, Garuda because shes all about her piercing feathers, Ramuh because well... hes literally a spellcaster and Shiva for her well intent and she uses a cane.
These are just how I thought it would play out, not saying it should have been this way haha.
Glad we finally have primal gear!
Before 3.1 they put WHM idle pose to preview DRG 185 gear.

Given that THM/BLMs are one of two classes with actual Ice elemental magic (NIN is the other), I don't know that Shiva is really a bizarre choice at all for casters. The pose does look a bit strange, but there's nothing that says a caster has to look annoyed all the time.
In both of the Shiva (HM/EX) fights she uses Sword/Shield, Bow, and a Staff, not a cane. You literally get the Staff from the Ex drop which Staves are BLM weapons only. Both the staff she uses and the staff you get from her Ex drop are the one in the same.
Surprisingly enough, Ramuh actually uses his WHM weapon he drops in the Ramuh Ex fight, so if that were to be the case, Ramuh could likely be the healer set, which wouldn't surprise me too much seeing as how he acts in the story-line. I could see it actually, and will be fine with this (so long as we do NOT get a beard on the front like the barding @.@) please no!
Because they're the only class that really uses Ice in any significant way. NIN does have an Ice spell, but it's essentially never used, and Shiva is presented as a caster in battle that wields powerful Ice magicks. The closest thing to that among the classes/jobs is THM/BLM. I mean, yes, they could have given caster the Ramuh set just as well (or the Ifrit one), but that would then require shuffling the other classes around.
Honestly seems like you're putting too much thought into this, people have shown you two separate sources that calls it caster, you can believe what ever you like obviously, but they are both very viable sources. Also promotional artwork and pictures of in-game gear/characters always have out of the ordinary poses as someone posted earlier, with the DRG using the WHM /cpose as their pose in the picture. This isn't anything new for the XIV when they show promotional content for upcoming patches/expansions.
I'm thinking (+hoping and praying) healers get Ramuh's stuff. I mean, they gave WHM his exact staff from the ex drops over a caster, which was nice.
I don't really want to give anyone Moggle Mog stuff but...good luck Aiming peeps.
They're also the only class that uses fire/ lightning in any significant way... and all the primals are "casters that use powerful (element) magicks", Shiva is no different. Well, actually, she is, in that she swaps weapons to a sword and bow as well as wielding magic. You could argue why not a Shiva PLD/ BRD instead with that logic.
It's an odd choice combat-wise as well as stylistically.
Moogle aiming confirmed.

The difference though is that the other classes overlap to some degree with the other primals in other ways. Ifrit fights primarily with his claws and also dashes around on the ground—similar in many ways to PGL/MNK. Garuda is heavily associated with the sky, just like LNC/DRG, and so on.
I do agree that the caster set could have been Ramuh, but given Ramuh's association with the Shroud and the Sylphs, which are rather closely tied to Conjury and White Magic, healer is the more likely thematic choice for him.
It's not just the fact that Shiva uses Ice magic that made it their choice for caster. It probably also has a lot to do with Shiva fitting less well with the other classes, and since BLMs use Ice magic, it was the simplest fit.
Your association of Ice with healing doesn't even really build off of much in game—the elements of Conjury are Earth, Air, and Water. Ice is specifically associated with destructive (i.e., Black) magic in the game itself. The three healing classes have no association with Ice in the game, whereas THM/BLM does have some.
in FFXI for example avatar favors, or the rings used Stat + resistance to some element, plus always summons has been associated with some "stat"
titan = Vit / defense
ifrit = STR / attack
ramuh = DEX / potency
Garuda = AGI / evasion
leviathan = MND /magic acc
Shiva = INT / magic boost
now garuda being DRG , and Levi NIN....throws that out of the windows :P
It gives me that impression. The simple fact that they have trials and raids included (in their savage AND normal capacity) means they'll probably have some light mechanics testing. Nothing that'd kill you, I don't think, but I believe at the end it might tally AoE hits/misperformed mechanics against you. Or at least they'll have specific phase training.
I'm actually really excited for the primal gear. draguda is straight up sexy and the sengoku basara looking ifrit set gives me incentive to level up my mnk alt on balmung. the only way I could be happier is if fending is ravana themed
"Wow, that Shiva set is really pretty. It's gonna look great on my WHM."
"Uh, Selli, that's casting."
+flipstable
I've been saying Ramuh will be healing for a while now.
He does, afterall, use the healing staff in the fight itself.
We'll see, though. I've been wrong before!
