Unusual Lag Spikes?

I have been hitting a few lag spikes, got extremely bad in AV last night. Would move out of the AOE, it would cast, move back then get hit with the mass of debuffs. Was really close to quitting but luckily stabilized enough to finish. During the day hours it seems to be fine but as soon as we get the evening hours (bout 5-6pm mountain time) the lag starts.

Usually I'll experience lag spikes just before a patch. Lately, I've been experiencing them post patch as well. And usually in the evening locally. Today could be due to some gnarly weather along California's coast (saw some gulls inland, and I live in California's southern central valley). And it is windy outside. I'm just going to chalk it up to outside forces beyond my control.

I am getting pretty bad lag too for the past 3-4 days now, and it usually occurs around NA primetime. :/

Started again tonight around 8:00 pm est time. Comcast :-/ It usually goes away around 10:00 pm est.

Focus on North America, switch to different industries.

Just now, Retail volume was up 16% over norm, Gaming up 27%, Broadcast up 46%, Social Media up 25%...and here is the REAL kick in the teeth:

Unfortunately, that's around the time many groups raid, which is what really bites about this whole situation.

Don't feel bad, happened to me again for the 5th night in a row.

This seems to be effecting a ton of people and mostly with Comcast customers from what I can tell on the subreddit forums and here. Myself as well as several FC mates have been having severe lag issues after 8pm est EVERY f'in night for the past week!

It's getting a little absurd and it would be nice to see SE at least acknowledge the known issue. I play several online games and FF14 is the ONLY one giving me lag/latency issues recently, so I know it's something SE will need to resolve with the ISP's. Maybe if they wouldn't have chosen the lowest bidder for their herp-derp archaic server tech we wouldn't have these random problems all the time! SMH

I, for one, have done my part running trace routes and providing the feedback to my ISP (comcast), but that's about the only thing we can do...other than just un-sub, which I will likely be doing before the next billing cycle if this isn't addressed soon!

FF14 is the only thing slow for me at night. Been going on a few days now.

This seems more like an issue with NA datacenters, with the majority of the affected living in NA. There's been no issues here in Japan, at all.

IF the games servers are to blame, then it's the NA Datacenters that has to catch up. But I do think that ISP's are also a factor this this ongoing issue. I would suggest you go to a internet cafe and try play games there, if they are using different ISP's and you don't experience lag, then well... you will get your answer.

I used to live in NZ, where the internet was god awful (data limits, lot's of $$$$$, snail speeds... random disconnections) and I know that Telecom owned majority of the existing broadband lines. Which was then rented out by 3rd party providers. Which resulted into a worse (but slightly cheaper) experience. Something to consider.

Looks like not so much problems EU side but I've been getting intermittent lag spikes over the past few days and it's really worrying.

I'm having this issue since 3.1. The game stops receiving data but still sending, giving me random lag spikes like 4-5 times per hour.

I hadn't had any problems before, but today has been pretty bad. FWIW I'm living in Japan so usually have zero problems.

Cleric stance was horrible to switch in and out of, and managed to waste TWO lustrates on a tank who died anyway because they didn't register in time.

Very laggy today, my other party members were complaining too.

Perhaps unrelated to your same lag issues. But my friends and I popped into 2nd Coil to glamour farm and -immediately- we got lag spikes. None of us were lagging outside of Coil but every time we entered it, we'd start lagging.

The mundra lag is back .. please SE HALP!

Does it all happen to you around 9PM EST? I've been resolving this by using wtffast...but this only happens with FFXIV.

I tried WTFast for the first time last night and the lag disappeared like that. Anyone still on the fence should try WTFast as it's basic function is completely free.

Just wanted to add this here since SE has acknowledged the issue and the people reporting here might not have seen it in Tech Support.

Also want to update this and state that WTFast is taking away free accounts mid-month, so that option is off the table in a few weeks.

As of 3.1, primetime Cactuar is a slideshow. I've got FC members near the datacenter experiencing the same

The last time I was in a Comcast store they gave me a free cookie, so I'm now obligated to say these are all lies.

It's not as severe lately, but still noticble at times past 9 EST.

And wtffast is dropping their free version, which was my way of working around this :l

I need to mention that my game on Ps4 keeps freezing from put of nowhere at least twice or 3 times a week. This has been happening since 3.1

In unrelated news to 3.15, I'm still getting lag spikes around this time (9est PM and beyond)

Was doing fine for a while, but suddenly getting random lag spikes now and then ever since the server implosions happened yesterday.
