There's also a Temple Fox. mob in Sunken Temple of Corn (Heroic).
It's exactly what you think it is.

Yup, a bat. Because there's also a bat called flying fox due to its size. I never had any problems understanding any meanings/reasons for the names, and geez, I'm not even a native english speaker.
Aren't hippos well known animals? I don't get your point... Having different names for the same family of mobs is good to create variation and to prevent any trouble like the one you just said, calling a mount and a mob the same name...
have they talked about what ilvl the rewards from diadem are?
my point is that when I'm lying dead on the ground from "final sting", I tend to be angry at mobs and their stupid little names and stupid little faces. lol
Just because some guy named a bat, "fox" doesn't mean it isn't still a silly name.

It's gonna the smallest patch yet and will actually take an hour to update. The techs just want some time to play Fallout 4 uninterrupted.
I understand your point but it's most likely because the language spoken in-game isn't exactly.... English... or a normal language. Everything is said differently. So they'll just give unnecessary names for the sake of having them.
I know, Having Wespe as a name instead of Wasp IS dumb lol...
Okay we have the preliminary patch notes. School stuff pushed to 3.15, no mistery trial, and a short-ish main quest. On the other hand we will get tonns of performance tweaks and quality of life changes. (Thank god I can finally buy stacks of items from the grand companies). And it still has more playable content than the first two cataclysm patches. Looks like Yoshie and co sacreficed some of the quantity in favor of quality, but I won't complain if that is indeed the case.
