Sounds easier than the Naxx dance if there's only fire! I'll have to check it out once I hit 50.

Congrats to you guys!
But i'm curious about something.
Is LNC better than ARC now or something? I see you used a lot of LNC lol.
It's been almost 2 months since i played, so i dunno if there were changes made to it.
I'm aware of that, but just trying to put some things into perspective with number comparisons. I'm sure BG was at the point where we are at for the longest time with most of their attempts trying to finish rather then getting to P4.
Which I can completely believe, because P4 right now is proving to be a bit of a challenge and a wall, we come so close, but end up just shy of the victory.
Defeating Ifrit in under 10 minutes grants the achievement:
Ifrit Defeated in Short Order!
Carraway Author (Rabanastre) has made short work of the primal Ifrit!

We personally hit a wall with the phase 4 -> phase 5 transition. The bulk of our attempts were spent getting that transition, and then phase 5 itself, down. I think Rich is working on something to accompany the eventual video (we're not going to rush Peng on uploading the first kill, since we destroyed his sleep schedule this past week), but basically you have 60 seconds in phase 4 to figure out how you're going to survive phase 5.
A lot of linkshells probably will kill it well before our ~150 attempt count once we release the how-to guide. Tons of things became clear after so many attempts.
This encounter is by far one of the hardest I've ever done in any MMO period. I can only think of maybe 1-2 WoW bosses that took anywhere even remotely near the number of attempts to bring down. A large part of this is due to how the game is designed (animation lock) but that's just the way the game is so really you cannot blame it, and there is a way to get around and minimize the lock.
Theres a P5? lol
Shit...whens that happen? 10% or so?
Did you take lvl 25's into the little ifrit fight to do a portion of your testing? 150 attempts at the big fight seems like an awful lot of inferno tapers.
The L50 fight is nothing compared to the L25 fight... the L25 fight is a joke, he doesn't do half the things he does in the L50 fight.... therefore you can't prep for the L50 fight off the L25 fight.
No level 25 testing. Your Inferno Lamp is only consumed when you win. After that, you have to pick up the quest again from Louisoix and get a new Inferno Lamp made. Currently there's also a display error where the chat log says you hand over an entire stack of Inferno Tapers, but really it's just 5 more.
Also, tapers shouldn't ever be an issue with the occasional spiritbonding/coffer-farming at Zanar'ak.
We count phases like this:
Phase 1: Ifrit only performs auto attacks
Phase 2: @80%, Ifrit begins using abilities
Phase 3: @50%, Ifrit glows, begins using abilities in slightly shorter intervals, activates Sear (AoE pulse for ~250-350 damage). The behavior of many abilities changes.
Phase 4: @30%, Ifrit summons four Infernal Nails.
Phase 5: @60 seconds after Phase 4 begins, Ifrit uses Hellfire, then resumes using his abilities in even shorter intervals than in Phase 3. The behavior of many abilities changes again.
Congratulations.
Just noticed that when you engage with the Ifrit weapons they have a sound bite. Upon the weapon being wipped out and igniting there is a flame igniting sound. Like when you turn on a fireplace, a sorta swoosh flame sound.
Good job guys, congratulations.
Congrats!
You said that you loose the key item if win...need kill all Nm again or just get the last one?
Grats!
JP side got some person crying asking for hint for strategy and people telling him/her to at least try different stuff out but the person still complaining so... I linked this thread and OP's images... Hope that will keep him/her quite for a while lol
I heard the ifrit loot is screw up where it is auto loot to a player inventory instead of the loot list... is it true?
I guess it's true as they said that 2 player without the job has the items now, if it werent like that as it is a LS they will have given it to party member that at leat have the job (or at the very least want to up that job)
If that's true, the fight just became less appealing >_> I wonder what SE's thought process is doing it that way (if it's true)...
Well tbh we are mostly stuck in having everyone live the Hellfire transition point (we can get 4th nail down to 35% before Hellfire... so a little more DPS and we can avoid it all together right?)
Ppl missing Sentinel and such has messed up any real serious attempts at the end of the fight.
This is... untrue.
1.18 gear: Blindside + RS2 + Fer2 = 670-700 top end Doomspikes, ~350 low end (2000%-2500% no buffs)
1.19 gear 0 materia: Same buffs = 760 top end Doomspikes, ~375 low end
1.19 Materia gear (50 atk, 9 str, 9 dex) = 870 top end Doomspikes, ~450 low end.
1 attack is roughly giving 2 damage on doomspikes average, if the materia you socket on body gives +ATK to crits instead of crit rate (don't know... don't have one yet), and you dual socket ATK to gloves, weapon, and dual socket that +Crit Attack to chest you'll be seeing top end Doomspikes of 1100 damage, which is nearly double what a 1.18 geared LNC can do and 1.5x what you do with no materia socketed.
What attack doesn't seem to be affecting is normal hits on Ifrit. Murderous Intent seems to be the best way of increasing damage done during that time, too bad it has a long CD.
NQ shepard's pie for example gives me 69 attack and if your numbers were correct that would mean using shepard's pies would increase my doomspike damage by 138 points of damage, my highest doomspike without a pie is 820 damage and my highest with a pie is 832 damage.
If attack effected weaponskills in the way you say i should be seeing close to 1k with +1 shepard's pie and using my hart guisarme that has +28 attack in it and yet i haven't.
If someone can provide 100% proof of your claims i would be happy to accept them but from personal testing if it does give any extra damage to weaponskills at all the increase is extremely minimal.
Edit: It could also be that food buffs aren't providing the same buff to weaponskill damage that attack on armor/weapons do which is entirely possible, if that is the case than a 2/3 materia'd +2/3 hart guisarme will probably be higher damage than the ifrit lance.
I will try to test it when i start getting a decent amount of attack materia but sadly so far i have been super unlucky with materia and haven't had too much time to spirit bond between sleep and ifrit attempts.
Peng, since you just posted. Items looted go directly to peoples inventory? 100% confirmed? I need to decide to rage or not lol
Peng, have you tested how +STR impacts WS?
Trying to decide if i want to put +attack or +STR on these gloves . . .
So ffxi voidwatch system brought into ffxiv? yay....seriously, why do they think this is a good system to now implement it in both games?
wtf edit......
LOL damnit, since we're so close, we started thinking about how to get people the gear they wanted...and this was an idea. Guess not though :(
Each person needs to have the Inferno lamp to be eligible for loot, so they can't have it in a pool. I wonder if you have the weapon already it gives you one from the remaining options or just gives you none at all.. Could be fun having to kill it to get the 1 or 2 weapons you don't have yet if its still random :O
Ill try an unslotted guisarme for tonight, and alternate with my one with +Attack materia in it. I'll average out the damage per WS but it might still be off with how much buffing it changes its damage output. (if I get 4x BS/RS/F one attempt, and only 3 the next... will be skewed pretty hard)
Before slotting materia my best was only 769, after slotting my best was 874 though that high was rare there were plenty of 860s, and none ever landed between 800-830. Single buffing with just RS usually got it to upper 700s.
Shepards pie NQ rose my attack from 545 to 620 = 75
HQ rose it to 628 = 83
HQ2 rose it to 640 = 95
I'm not sure what the Atk cap on it is if you are only getting 69, it might have uncapped percentages?
Also 1 attack = 2 damage is an observation, but you must remember you can't just multiply your paper doll x 2. (in my case 620 * 2 = 1240). ifrit still has defense that is worked into the calculation!
Anyways I'll try some different things today and see if I can come up with anything more concrete.
First of all, huge grats to you guys! Great job!
Secondly... Voidwatch system? Loot automatically going into someone's inventory and unable to be traded? This is the worst idea I've ever heard. Period.
