Can we have some sort of Queue Bar to show what we have queued up?
Thats great news!
I really could not fathom why it was removed in the 1st place @_@
lol when i posted a thread about changing the way the current casting system works i got nothing but flamed for wanting anything different than what we have now.
its amazing to me that once a dev says the old system is coming back everyone hops on the bandwagon and piddles their pants.
I don't understand how evade and miss made PUG 'more fun' than the system now. The system is exactly the same except you have more chances to use your counters since misses and evades are the same thing now instead of them being separate and you only being able to proc on evades.
First of all, THANK YOU devs for listening to us. I don't know who told them to remove action queuing but that group of people should be slapped upside the head with a chocobo's dropping.
OR, they could have just kept the Evade/Miss system and allowed all the pug counter skills to proc on evade OR miss.
The reason why it's essential to have the Evade message available is for us to gauge our Evasion. How is a pug supposed to gauge how good their evasion is based off of their equipment (this is outside of the use of Featherfoot) if there's no visual or text-based indicator telling them that the reason why an attack missed was not because it missed, but because it was evaded?
They need to bring it back and simply fix it the way I suggested earlier in this post. But that is another topic for debate outside of here.
Not quite. You no longer see the animation and hear funky sound
Also, you no longer evade mob WSs, which was a tremendous nerf to Featherfoot.
I do agree the removal of evade was completely uneeded and that it cut a buch of fun regarding playing PGL.
But i'm liking this...they are mainly rolling back 1.19, which is great IMO. Very few of the 1.19 changes were actually good.
Eh? You can still evade mob WSes. Try it for yourself. Fight a Puk, get it to do Backflip or Tail Chase, throw on Featherfoot. You'll see Featherfoot work if the Evasion up icon in your buffs/debuffs list at the top of the screen disappear.
And as much as I dislike some of the 1.19 changes (Favored vs Required levels of equipment, etc), I don't think ALL of the changes need to be rolled back - just the ones that made no sense such as this action queue "nerf". 1.19 laid down the foundation for what will be 2.0, so we need to cut them some slack as they figure things out and break/unbreak things in the process.
Featherfoot always was a "must have" IMO so yeah, i've been using it since always. But i'll double check this later because i'm pretty sure i wasn't evading WSs while with FF up.
And yeah, not all the patch need to be rolled back...but a beef of it does...but i'm already happy with action queue, dyeing and inventory (this one only at 2.0) rollback...if we have evade and guard back and evasion attribute back to gear primary attribute list (it's a nonsense plate armor and cloth armor having the same evasion) and some decent adjustments regarding HQ (that might be coming in 1.20 too) and materia system, maybe the game start looking good enough for them to actually think about charging ppl...
In honor of this period, the first FFXIV expansion should be named "FFXIV: Menace from the Old Republic" lol
I didn't like queuing, but I'm fine with them bringing it back since it's going to be optional.
I've noticed that some people have asked "why would you NOT want it?" Well, to me queuing was one of two factors making the battle system feel less responsive. The other was general lag due to the current version's server structure. Essentially, the more "lag" there is between when I enter an action and when it is carried out, the less responsive the battle system feels to me.
With that said, the current "queu-less" system is certainly not ideal. First, there is no indication on your action bar of when it is OK to input your next action. Furthermore, if you DO input an action too quickly, there is no notification that you've done so. As a result you just sit there wondering why you aren't doing anything. Finally, there is still a great deal of lag due to the current server structure (and maybe the client as well). Yoshida indicated in his interview with Blue Gartr that, come version 2.0, FFXIV will be as responsive as WoW. If that's the case, I think this whole positioning and timing-based battle system they're developing will be a lot more fun.
In any event, I can certainly understand why people like queuing. It's just not my cup of tea.
I can't Like Rukkirii's post enough
Essentially this, I went from not being able to use counters terribly regularly to using them almost exclusively. Like my DOT from spamming these out does saving up for higher abilities. This also made the way concussive and light strike work actually assist in the process of evading.
That said queing was bad when you had standard attacks up because trying to get the next on of those off by spamming meant you would miss evade times etc because you know spam that light/heavy strike. I still think ill play with que off- at least after the first time I have a que tp action and then suddenly need second wind very fast.
I do miss the special laugh from evade but alas (add it to haymaker/simian etc?).
Accidentally queueing up actions at the wrong time likely could leave you vulnerable in some situations or at least be mildly annoying/confusing to newer players who were not receiving the expected result when they used skills in quick succession.
It might not have been so bad if we weren't used to having this ability, but the fact is it's a valuable convenience and we obviously wouldn't like not having a convenience after previously having it. :p
for mages queing up actions is nearly required, because its so hard to tell when its ready and when you go to early and it doesn't fire. As a main healer being able to queue will make my life a lot easier. As a mele you can spam an ability since there is no cast time you can't end up cancelling your ability/ws where the mages are forced to wait and be very very careful with timing.
As a mage I am really excited they putting the queuing back in. Making it optional is really great, I know a few people who like it as it is now so they will be able to play without the queuing.
I'm not really in favor of queuing actions, but with current lag it's the best thing to be able to play correctly. Before update, even with lag, I just cast spell over spell and I know it will work. Now, with lag, I have to keep spamming buttons cause I don't know if I didnt cast on good time or if i'm just lagging.
+1 to keep queuing (at least til servers are good)
i could live with or without queuing eitherway... it was useful tho when the mobs wherent so tough but ones i really want to focus on, i might rather not have queuing...
The ONLY problem with Queuing was , i Hit an attack, waiting for it to go off, SUDDENLY the tanks about to DIE! too late to hit cure, because you already set an attack into motion 30 seconds ago!
I DO want queuing back, BUT it needs to allow "Replacement" of the queued ability.
Maybe even a box showing you which ability is currently meant to go off next, and possibility of replacing it is possible, as long as you hit the replacement ability, before times up and it goes off.
(This doesn't fix the "Animation-Lock" that would prevent u from dodging attacks.)
I think I like how it is currently but I really really really would like the dang confirmation thing to not go through if you can't currently act. IE:
Now: Casting Cure, if I select Stoneskin it lets me pick my target and confirm. It doesn't go off if it's not ready and I have to do the entire process again. If I'm not keeping an eye on my character or I miss the chat log I can miss the fact that I'm not casting.
What I'd like: Casting Cure, I select Stoneskin and pick my target but instead of confirming it will give an error noise and keep the cursor on the target so I can try again immediately and I'll know when the spell is actually casting.
It's called "Planning ahead."
You set your abilities up, scope the situation, and plan for your next steps, but alas, you realize everything went wrong, and your previous actions were made invalid.
Time spent babysitting the UIs faults, is time better spent getting back into the situation.
It's more having to retarget especially if someone is dead in the group which screws up the Up/down party targeting which I am used to from years of FF11. When the confirm goes through and the stupid spell can't be cast because I'm too early and I have to target all over again it gets annoying and dangerous.
I am pretty much used to the rhythm now but that way I said is just more comfortable to me. I don't know how you got that I don't want to be paying attention or whatever.
Yeah it's called watching HP bars/watching the chat log/watching for anything else man. You should know how this game likes to screw up sometimes ><
I never look at either of those. I have the party HP bar close to my action bar/center of the screen when I heal, so I can see the action+heal at the same time. Half the time I don't even notice the action bar, I just use macros/numbers. You just get used to the timing.
Getting tired of the kiddie trail? You want to take your motorbike onto a tougher trail?
Why not just break the bike, and get USED to it on the kiddie trail!
Rather than ask for a decent bike, and get a tougher trail...
I'm long past used to it. And so are many others.
Stop trying to defend the broken UI.
Too many MMOs require you staring at the UI bars/log, instead of the actual scenario playing out in front of you.
I don't remember having to do this for games Like Zelda and the such.
The original Zelda was a rather difficult game, mainly do to bad controls/animation lock, and I got over them... but even in THAT game, I didn't have to put up with sh*tty UI that I had to stare at over the game.
i thought they took it out because of animation overlaps. i like queuing my actions
Hey there,
Never had to complain about queue/non queue actions, could deal and adapt with any easily, and got no complain about Ifrit's fight too and anticipating shits due to some weird lag/UI whatever (and i'm in France, so 300ms+ there) ...
BUT !!!
for a few days, i donno wtf has changed (nothing on my config and the way I fight), but i got like 8-10 seconds (can be more than 10 seconds !!) when smashing a button to launch an action, and some people seems to have same problem recently appearing.
For example, any action is ready in my action bar, no cooldown (or cooldwon ok for more than 10 seconds at least), i smash the button to launch it, and for 10+ seconds, log says i cant use it ... i can deal with 1-3 seconds latency before it launches and deal with that, but 10 seconds is just INSANE !
Buddy told me when he reboots things better for him and then the lag comes back if he stays connected .... but thats clearly not a way to solve that ... and it does not solve to me (just rebooted, started a leve with no cooldown, first action , log says 7x i cant use a simple slash ..)
what the hell ?!?
That never worked for me anyway, I was just standing there for several minutes, staring at the mob while others hit it like crazy.
So I just used my skills normally, no different from how I do it now.
But since it's optional to use it, I don't mind if they bring it back so those who liked it can use it again.
