I'll admit I was rather touched by this. It also strongly reminded me of something. That being that despite the fact that people may constantly complain on the forum left and right and generally sound like they don't appreciate the hard work that gets put into the game, moments like this prove otherwise and you hear from the people (possibly the same said people no less!) that they actually DO like the amount of time, love, and effort the development team puts into this game. It's one of those rare moments in which I'm reminded that humanity isn't all bad, and my faith in humanity actually raises a little.
So for me, this was a double whamy. Thank you Yoshi-P for making this game wonderful and keeping me hooked! No other MMO has ever succeeded in keeping me this long, save for Dungeon Fighter before it got taken down.
When I saw "go do this FATE over here" I was like "oh boy, it's one of THESE events again" but I was absolutely surprised and charmed at their cute way of showing the development process (getting rid of bugs, having to run around asking people how to fix bugs, etc). I -completely- lost it when Yoshida himself showed up.
The icing on the cake is the minion for my favorite FFXIV character, Iceheart... and the unlimited Heavenscrackers that I can spam to my hearts content.
Thanks so much to the FFXIV dev team for such a touching and fun little event.
Stunning event! Thank you for a beautiful game, my first MMO ♥
Two years ago I was in a bad place, then this game came along and a friend of mine went and bought it for the both of us - it changed everything. The stunning world of Eorzea gave me strength when I really needed it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Id also like to say thank you to the developers. I've played a few MMOs and the Final Fantasy ones have always been my favorite. As a ffxi fan, I was sad when FFXIV came out and was broken. But the developers worked really hard piecing things together, and relaunching the game in a much better state. Thanks, you guys did a really good job!
i knew we broke that 4th wall when it showed us those concept art posters. Then dat bling.
"White, black, red, blue"
"maybe next year they'll let me carry sacks."
There's a clockwork doomtrain minion on the loose.
"Two primals, a behemoth and a bomb."
"I hear you've found new housing."
"again with the headshot"
dat "boss room"
That was amazing. Thank you guys so much for giving that to the community.
Thank you Yoshi P and your amazing staff. I love the scenery the ambiance of the areas. The story lines and side quest are amazing. BTW Thanks for putting up the cat bats on sale. those are too cute.
Look at her face and you'll see it. It's 1.0 Minfilia.
I liked the older model compared to the current one used.
Well teeeeeechnically they haven't. The Voor Sian Siran we see isn't the Voor Sian Siran of legend. It was simply mislabeled. The sightseeing log explains the mixup.
Thanks for the fantastic event (and game to date) Yoshi-P and team!
Thank you very much for that wonderfull Event. It is very touching!
Thank you for your hard work and love you are putting into this game. Thank you for your respecting towards us players!
Ganbate!
Here is a little Gift for Soken though

This is quite possibly the most special event that I have ever participated in for any MMO, or any game I've played. I would absolutely LOVE to just come and shake the hands of everyone on Floor 18 (or possibly give y'all big bear hugs - I might not be able to contain myself). Thank you for going to such great lengths to "meet" us, and thank you for your passion for the game we all play and enjoy. We may complain, we may whine, but you listen and you pay attention, and you fix it, and for that, you will always have our gratitude. Raising my glass to another five amazing years, and incredibly honored to be able to go on this journey that you're taking us on.
Thank you. :)
I legit cried watching this. THANK YOU YOSHIDA AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO WORKS ON THIS BEAUTIFUL GAME!
I can't wait for next year
I cannot wait to get on and do this event tonight, it sounds amazing. Thanks go out to Yoshi-P and the DEVS for fixing this game for us and making it the BEST out there.
I wanted to play 1.0 but heard it was only coming out on computer first so did not. Then I heard the game died and was going to be "re-made" from my local game store and so I waited and waited and waited. Finally after watching the websites and reading everything I could find on the game I found out about the Beta test. I signed up and got in and started my FFXIV experience in Beta Phase III and have never looked back. This game was everything I hoped it would be and everything I wanted out of my MMO experience. I have enjoyed all the content they provide for us and I am always excited for the next patch. Just GRATS all around to the TEAM...keep up the great work we love you!!!!
What a nice touch from the staff, i think i have something in my eye...
I was standing in Limsa Lominsa, at last year's Rising location, because I read the wrong website, which contained information on last year's Rising. As I was standing there for all of five minutes, I listened to the Limsa Lominsa BGM fade, and Answers came on.
Even though I was confused on the whereabouts of the Rising vendor/questgiver, I stood there, looking up into the La Noscean night sky, listening to the song, over, and over, and over again.
I wonder if the song made Uematsu teary as he was making it. I would have bawled my eyes out if I were the one who wrote it; it probably would have been like--
"Uh, is that song ready yet?"
<sob, sniffles, sob> "No! Five more measures!" <sob>
What's the timing on this. I'm finding people complete it before I can even make it to the spot...
Been playing MMOs since Ultima Online. Barely played this game for 2 months, yet never seen so much love and work put into an anniversary event as this game has. Loved this love letter to the players. Also that subtle jab at the haters and whiners. xD
Take all my love (and subscription monies)!
It's quite an amazing feeling sharing a birthday with this excellent game. Sure we got some rough spots to work out but if we keep pushing forward and maturing together, i think we'll be a sight to behold in the future.
Damn it Yoshi & Crew, I've been content to grumble into my plate of salt but then you guys go and pull this stunt. Stop making it so hard to be grumpy at you! <3 FFXIV isn't perfect and probably never will be, and you guys make some.. interesting? decisions time to time, but dang it I can't quit you guys! Much love to you all from Balmung, here's to two years and many more to come!
Gonna add my name to the thank you list here. The whole event made me tear up a little.
Thank you all so much. /bow
Now, I'm gonna...*sniffs* need a minute.
...omg, the feels...
It was pretty amazing.
I laughed a lot at that 'Nightmare ride' and Soken's SMN horn.
It may have been short, but it was a very sweet event.
Thank you very much FFXIV team. Reading through the event was emotional indeed that I teared up for real. (;u; ) I'm having fun with this game & enjoy being in this community. I hope for it's continues success.
Thank you Yoshi & Crew! Like everyone here has already expressed, I too want to join the feels train. Let the whiners complain, I say! I'm still going to play the shit out of this game until the day I grow old and become a hermit and move up into the mountains. ;^;

Was my characters expression and also mine. Thank you for a little nugget of surprise and enjoyment and did I spot some players winning competition drawings on some of the boards?
I also second a dev team photo in costume in real life.
Thank you to the whole team for 2 years of enjoyment and giving me a place to escape from the harsh reality we all live in. Look forward to whats broadcast on pax prime and more sneaks to what we have to expect coming up in future patches.
Thank you for such an amazing game Yoshida and everyone else involved. Though i left for awhile.. but damn i am back for good. This game exceeds so much of my own expectations and the amount of love poured into it by every individual can really be felt. Like most, i got teary eyed. Played a little bit from 1.0 though i did not stay for long.. it was quite amazing to see where this game is now. Looking forward to more good years in Eorzea :*)
Congrats, they just made the best GIF/meme ever.

I had a great deal of fun with this one, it was awesome and I really hope we can look forward to it again next year in some other fashion, maybe even show off some artwork or info that hasn't been released before...?
If we do it again, please please please, I ask that we're privately zoned instead of server zoned. I wanted to take photos next to all of the (spoilers) but there were so many people jumping around and using AoEs that it couldn't be done very well. I was there for an hour trying to get one.
Excellent job.
Thank you so much, it was really a surprising and worked event :)
And this broosh is really awsome, I want the same in my personal house !!!!!
In French traduction it says :
"This is terrible ... if Miqote continue to eat Lalafels, they will disappear from Eorzea"
or
"I wonder what is the whorst ... kikoolol or whiners"
Is this the same in english ? ^^
That was in fact a great touch on their part, it was great :D
I want their bomb tabletops!!!
Thank you dev team, that was fantastic.
But why was it suddenly so dusty in that room?
This event was incredible. Short, sweet, and and great reminder that your development team has put in so much effort, so much heart into creating this charming world we play in.
I absolutely loved all the hints dropped in for what's to come, much of which shows that you, the developers, always stay in tune with your community and bring much of what the majority want to see. And a lot of us, we know we can't have it all, there's only so much time and resources that can be afforded your team...yes, we may cry out for more content, unreasonable changes, but deep down we know what's truly possible.
Really looking forward to Doomtrain, and the future Samurai and Red Mage (two of my absolute favorite jobs in FF history!). Keep it up, guys.
Omg was I the only one in tears during that whole event? I was very touched and was smiling madly, even now! When talked to every one of the members of the staff it honestly felt like I was really there!!! Like I could extend my hand out to them and shake it and really felt it! Lmao! It was soooo nice and loved every minute of it!!
Thank you Yoshida-San and team! Thank you for all the hard work that you put into this game! Thank you thank you thank you! :D
I did this last night....and it was simply amazing. I honestly couldn't sit in my chair, I was standing and doing this because I was so thrilled and moved. and then it was over and was immediately engulfed in vigor and did ALL my roulettes......ALL OF THEM.
The event was just cool I really enjoyed it, especially the job and primal spoilers.
Best quest ever! I hope we can watch them in the inn!
