I see this a lot on DRK myself when doing roulettes for law. Its almost like they feel insulted when you mark mobs and go out of their way to not attack your marks. I've actually taken to Smokebombing and Shadewalker spam on my ninja and it seems to help a little. At least it helps until people actually start complaining that I'm suppressing their enmity lol

To be fair, I've also been on the DPS side of things and I've been guilty of attacking mobs that aren't marked -- But that's because the mob I'm pounding on is either a higher priority target that the tank may not know about, or it's going down faster than the one the tank marked.

DPS aren't always attacking non-marked mobs just to do it, which is why as a tank I don't always give them crap if they don't follow my instructions (unless I DO know better/run into the DPS who are just attacking mobs just to attack them).

I play all 3 roles extensively, and I beg to differ. Most DPS is debuffed with tunnel vision.

It's funny. Whenever the subject of MT'ing comes up everyone has all kinds of numbers and evidence to prove that DRKs and WARs can tank as well as any PLD. But as soon as the subject of AoE damage comes up suddenly PLDs are invincible God-Kings who are so much better at tanking than the other two classes that having almost nothing to contribute in an AoE situation is the only way to bring them in line. lol...

Would adding a little bit of damage to Flash really be so bad? Does anyone seriously think that would put PLDs anywhere close to what a WAR could do? It hasn't been a major issue for me so far, but it'd be nice if I could do something in a large pull other than casting CoS and walking away from the keyboard.

Yup. You aren't alone. I mark every target I focus on with the Big X. DPS still goes for everything else. Some just want to burn through the dungeon quick and don't care. Marking takes too long. Focus fire takes too long in their opinion. They think they can burn through the dungeon faster by attacking everything instead of focusing it. Most of the groups I run with in Roulette attack what I mark. You have those few though however that think they are heavens gift to DPS and they can burn down everything...

I think of it as a game. Let the DPS do whatever silly thing they want, and I'll see if I can still hold threat

I think this is the reason why we see these "aoe enmity" threads, peoples just want to see damage numbers while doing it. Current dungeons are gated so well that biggest mob packs are like 5-6 mobs at max, and that can be done with few flashes and then you can keep rotating comboes on each mobs. And because of this i really dont see the need for another AoE enmity skill.

Never noticed any issues holding enmity with AoEing Flash and Circle of Scorn. Of course I'm only a 57 PLD but when I focus on holding enmity on everything I have, I never have any problems maintaining enmity.

Don't get me wrong, having another AoE skill would be nice because my MP suffers really hard even with Sheltron and Riot Blade. But it's not a severe issue..

Does Paladin really need a new move? Why not just lower the cooldown on circle of scorn?

Same here , lob -> Flash -> Circle -> Flash and u above all on hate , even if mega BLM's flaring non stop . Didn't have any enemity issues as PLD at this moment and i is lv 60 .
