A player (particularly a tank) who bails after a try or two is WORSE than a player who never enters at all. The DPS in the run have now wasted their queue time on a run that isn't even going to get off the ground. So yeah, having folks prone to impatience give up on Roulette altogether would be worth it. I very much doubt any sort of majority of players would give up on Trial Roulette as a result - you would be the exception, not the standard. Queues may be longer if there are tanks who won't enter at all - but at least once you DO get in, you know those tanks are going to stick it out.
Still, if you want to suggest a carrot rather than a stick, I'm game. But if we go carrot, they'll have to do more than pump up the tomestone reward. After all, if we keep failing all the way to the end, it doesn't matter how fat the carrot is, we're not getting it. There would need to be incentive for sticking it out even if the trial fails.
I talked about it in another thread, on the topic of Coil Roulette and Expert Trial Roulette (which would include things like Ex Primals, Odin, and Ultima Hard). For many of these, going in with a pug means that you're pretty much expecting to fail. So, there needs to be a reward for TRYING, rather than for SUCCEEDING. Perhaps a reward that gets larger and larger the longer you stay in the instance - you get the full reward if you actually win, but even if you don't win you still get a reward based on how long you stuck it out, with the full reward still being given if you time out of the instance.
And yes, I'm in full agreement that SoF needs some kind of Reset option.
