Just change MNK so dmg is both piercing and blunt, pick the one that does the most dmg at the time, just in case being stabbed would ever eventually be less deadly that a blunt surface with the same force behind it for whatever reason.
Sadly, the issue the OP describes is reason I don't bother with MNK. Such an eyesore X_X
+1 to the option to have weapons attached.
Also +1 for an option to just make the weapon invisible and go straight barehanded.
The handles bother the crap out of me, but what bothers me more is all the blades/claws those are piercing/slashing weapons not blunt our Dragon Kick should be useless for keeping dps up when using one of those.
This is but one of the reason I decided to shelf MNK. Our relic up until Kaiser Knuckles are the only decent looking weapons. I'm honestly just waiting for MNK's weapon type to switch to piercing. Then we'd have two people that can put up Piercing and Slashing debuffs! Then DRK's Delirium would actually be somewhat unique =D

This needs to happen. Monk weapons should have the option of being invisible or be glove weapons as the current design does not fit with the fighting animations of the Monk, rather it was a leftover from the initial Pugilist design of 1.0.
Yeah, its ridiculous. I'm hoping they avoid the issue with future weapons. Otherwise I'm going to start making high level weapons look like titanium knuckles or something.
Everytime I see a game that has a hand to hand class and they use "fist weapons" I just wanna smack the devs...outside of a few areas, they are more detrimental than helpful
I don't play Monk, and I think nearly all of the Monk weapons are hideous because of the handles (that would otherwise look pretty great). I support a movement to beautify the Monk weapon designs.
