they will say something when/if they get something to say from the devs.
Not that I'm expecting a response (I'm hoping for one) but... its the weekend bro.
Oh yeah LMAO.. haha i totally spaced that.. well come Monday they are gonna have a big thread to weed through LMAO
Not necessarily. Only important post in this thread is the OP.

the online game connections are running UDP so there always going to be weird crap going on if there servers are only in japan it going to make it that much worse. nothing they can do about.
The network stack was quickly slapped on top of the engine, rather than developed with networking in mind.
Completely agree
Looking forward to PvP under these conditions!
until they fix this don't expect to see me in any of those areas lol
I mean i though that the lag on COD Black Ops was bad or even Modern Warfare 3 now i would prefer that lag to this
....wrong thread bro.
I support this thread wholeheartedly. Even though Im sure the development staff is fully aware of this it should take huge priority over most everything else IMO.
Good post =)
Maybe we can expect more servers when we start paying? It would be harder for them to have to host servers in other countries as well until they are actually pulling in revenue, no?
Ahahaha. I used to wonder why I'd be seeing folks hoping from place to place around me like a dysfunctional rabbit.
I hear ya man, but I think this is the single biggest thing holding back XIV: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...r-of-Jobs-Devs
Server/client optimisation is number 2 on my list.
This is just one of those issues we won't get a response on, they'll ignore it until the cows come home or until people are willing to just accept it.
Anyone that has played MMOs very long knows how it goes.
They seriously need to do something about this. I notice it a lot when I'm depositing items to my retainer or when I try to auto follow someone. The delay is terrible.
Thank you so much for posting this!
@Square Enix: Optimize the bloody game already! I can do without the new content, I want to finally play the game and experience SOME sense of "immersion" here!
OPTIMIZE IT!
You know it's funny, I actually feel sort of relieved to see this sort of video posted. Not because I think this is a good state for the game to be in, but because after having read several articles I know they are not only fully aware of this issue, but are also working hard to fix it. It would be one thing if I thought they were aware of it, but resigned to the possibility that they couldn't fix it. However, I assume that as Yoshie P. has been extremely forward and honest, and has stuck to his guns when it comes to the issues that really matter for the game, that this game is going to shape up well in the coming months and/or year. I look forward to the day when the combat system, which has been designed based on timing and strategy, can be enjoyed the way it was meant to be. Knowing this, I can really start to picture how the game will play when this issue is fixed. And it excites me greatly.
Definitely agreed with OP. This is the major source of all frustration and until this is fixed, the game is going nowhere..
I agree with that also, i think they are both equally important. I posted similar thread here:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ead-of-classes
If these 2 things get fixed, i think the game will have much more going for it and they can pull the masses back easily.
you know thats funny i was just looking at latest footage of CoH and thinking about goin back... looking at my background screenshot of me and my friend that i took in max graphics setting and sighed at the potential then i decided to check up on the threads and read this.. its like you read my mind 51 min ago or something.....
its optimism like that is what gives me hope.. =)
http://youtu.be/SuG76leVAbo This video is a pretty funny take on the problem... I agree with the OP it is something that sticks out like a sore thumb
This is a pretty big issue, especially when you consider all the focus on restructuring the battle system. What this does is makes it a very difficult situation when you encounter various monsters that require your character to stand at certain positions at specific times. (Any abilities that require you to move to dodge the attack or cast at specific position will be affected.)
I would go as far as to say that it greatly limits the amount of monster abilities and different strategy that could be created by the developers, as well, because players cannot move in a timely manner to counter those abilities to implement that type of battle where monster abilities require reflex (or a fast counter strategy of any kind.)
This is not even the only area where the client to server handshake is ultimately slow and affects gameplay. But, it is a very clear presentation of an area that can and should be better, for both the player and the developing team.
Yoshida has not turned this game around. On the contrary, he's just creating a WOW clone. I used to be the biggest FF fangirl ever. Now, I can't wait to the day I hear the news about SE giving up on FFXIV, or merging everything into 3-4 servers because noone plays anymore. That will be my sweet revenge for crushing my dreams of a nice FFXIV
But I like logging into FFXIV and seeing all the orcs, dwarves, trolls, and gnomes running around, PvPing in the open world or in Battlefields, collecting XP for exploring new worlds, swimming in the water, or getting around on flying mounts in a seamless environment!
What? That's not in FFXIV at all? Oh wait, I must have been playing WoW.
Orcs? Ixali! Dwarves? Lalas! Trolls? Just look at the forums! Gnomes? Just wait for the expansion! PvPing? A flamewar can hurt people way more than beating up their weak characters! XP for exploring new worlds? What for? Everyone is R50 already!
Blame yourself if you take me seriously <.<
This issue must be what causes that annoying situation for me in DH. Being a mage, I sometimes cant heal the tank who is 3ft in front me on a incline cos apparently they are "too far away".
Im adding my signature to this, in hope that the devs will see this and raise this issue with Yoshi, so we can get a response soon enough. Power of a united front - GO!
Did anyone bring up this topic in the japanese forums yet? There seems to be quicker replies there.
I have only seen that like in the first couple months of the game. I literally never see it anymore, so I naturally thought all of that got fixed. Now the other thing that still seems to happen to me for no reason is game crashes at the worst possible times and actually some areas are extremely laggy where they used to not be like around Nophica Wells Aetheryte point.
