Between Squall and Lightning, I'd be down for a gunblade job. Lorewise, it would make perfect sense for it to a Garlean based job.
So yeah, gunblades :D

Well i don't expect people to all love it just because it is a Gunblade Job. People like different things but ya with how FF14 has shoved the Gunblade weapon into the game's lore and story so many times already it will be almost insulting to just leave it as a Cutscene exclusive weapon for the entire game's life.
That still means 2 more **** years or more before the Gunblade Job can be released or at least considered to be released into FF14 because Yoshi-P already hinted there is already a plan for a Garlean Empire Expansion as a future expansion. However, what it would contain remains still in production so really no real promises for a actual Gunblade Job yet despite the countless teases in the game.
Already was said that not until we get into Garlemald proper. Though that was over a year ago and plans change. Nice thing is that if the next expansion is about liberating Ala Mhigo, then that's just a hop skip and a jump over to Garlemald. That and I doubt the Empire is going to be ok with their foothold into Eorzea been taken back.
Well, hopefully the next expansion is less about 'liberating' Ala Mhigo and more about forging peaceful ties with Garlemald and eliminating with the rot that exists on both sides of the conflict. It's not as if the Ala Mhigans are presented as often being pleasant, sane or rational individuals. If an either bigger threat than Garlemald emerges - which is likely given Ascian manipulation - I'd rather see a gunblade job added when we work along Garleans that aren't just defectors. Give us Garleans inspired by the likes of Gabranth, Larsa and Drace instead who are still loyal to their homeland and people.
Most likely it will be in 5.0 when we actually invade the empire (or the other way around). I would love the class, been waiting for it since 1.0...but now isn't the best time for it.
5.0 for gunblade and it will be called the Empire strikes back
I just want a sword wielder DPS ;w; ... altho nin was close enough with some type of daggers but yea.. I really want see the real DPS class with sword +__+
My guess is we won't invade the empire. I think it is more likely we will be pulled into some internal conflict within Garlemald. One way or another, the only way we could achieve a scenario where Garlemald proper is no longer an enemy is if it stops trying to invade people. Its the whole conquest and imperialism that makes them our enemy. Until the guy holding the power in Garlemald has a change of heart on that front, there isn't much which is going to lead to peace.
I've wanted this for awhile now. Ninja does not count at all, ninja uses daggers, daggers slice and stab while swords stab and bash with some meaty slices and strength. Hell even mystic knight would be awesome. Just something with a sword/swords/greatsword.
so now that 4.0 is out, and adding only 2 dps was clearly an oversight, the obvious solution is to add only support roles in 5.0, in 2 years....
Give us that magitek character already!!.
Holy Necro
Can we just get a cloud<zack> class a squall class and a lighting class lol
The best image of a gunblade job I have in mind would be something of a similar-yet-opposite design to how Red Mage works. Where instead of being a ranged dps with a melee finishing burst, it would be a melee dps with a ranged finishing burst, with nuances involving firing the gun mid slice a la Squall.
But I can now wait for a Gunblade class a while, my sword-dps fantasy is at last fulfilled quite well ^u^
Gunhammer class is better option.
Gunblades. Not gunblade's.
's is for possession not plural.
MCH already has three gunblades - Blue Steel, Warwolf Knifelock, and now The Coming Storm. A job actually using the blades would be cool, but with there already being a gunner job (MCH) and a ranged/melee mix job (RDM), I doubt it'll happen.
Its me or nero hav a gunblade ? 0.0 its maybe a illusion..
Gunblade already same Red Mage.
Sword with ranger.
I would do it with drk and mcn mechanics hybrid. Reload for 3 or so bullets, and ogcd trigger to spend bullets that activate based on the previous gcd combo finisher used (reverse darkside).
Most classes would weave ogcd in to affect the next gcd, but a gunblade user would reload > do combo gcd1 finisher > use trigger> do combo 2 > trigger again. The combo enders themselves would give the user a buff, that would be expended on trigger ogcd and provide different effects (buff itself would go away if you didnt trigger immediately after the combo finisher).
They could animate the gcds and triggers in a way that it blends with the trigger explosion so it looks like the slash > explosion is one attack and that should emulate the trigger hit confirms in ff8.
ill take a magitek class, doesnt have to be a gunblade. It could be a gadget based tank, hell it could be a robot.
LIGHTNING?!?!?!?

Meanwhile, I get to forever despair and dread at the thought that I'll never have that Squall Leonhart outfit.
I've always wanted a job that uses a Gunblade as a weapon ever since the FF11 days. IMO, and sorry if someone has posted similar ideas as I didn't read 11+ pages lol, it would play like Squall from Dissidia. The job would be melee focused not melee / ranged. It would have a trait, probably lvl 1 like RDM, that allows all it's Weaponskills to hit twice. Kinda like NIN's duality. However if your sword slash doesn't crit then your gun blast can't crit either. The Weaponskills would need to be low enough potency so that they basically do the same damage as the other jobs of course. I've always thought a defective Garlean could easily be the teacher for our job quests. Spoilers for Omega but...
We see Nero has a special weapon stance when he uses his Gunblade. He even has different attacking animations where he'll slash or shoot the weapon. So maybe in 5.0 we'll finally get a Gunblade job. Or maybe not. We'll probably get a Tank and Healer.
I noticed that! And you'll notice forolda also had this stance when she wielded a gunblade.
Guys, I think we may be seeing a gunblade job in the making!
The stance the animations, and the attacks (swish swish shoot) that Nero uses are the same animations used by Gaius all the way back in 2.0 (https://youtu.be/lA8hy5WWxvY?t=4m21s)
