As long as it's not Y'shtola i'm happy.
Um Icehart will become the new leader of the Scions because Minfilia can't contact Hydelan anymore. The last time we had an echo vision was right before fighting Shiva. Minfilia hasn't had one in forever John. In forever..
She has become one with the Ascians!

This must be the initiation ceremony!
Anyway, I feel like I've seen these facial features before during the storyline;

I can't put my finger on who it was. It just looks.. familiar? :O

What striked me the most was this image. If you've completed the SCoB,you'll notice this exact same beam striked down Nael Deus Darnus before she got blown up into Aether by Louisoix. http://puu.sh/evOqZ/602083b7b3.pngWhat if this isn't just a coincident but rather, certain Primals or individuals who have large amounts of aether in them (Louisoix was a primal at this point) can use this beam?
What if it was Midgrasdomr that used it? Or one of the Ascians actually kill us off, we return moments later but fully infused with Aether?
This sounds EXTREMELY far'fetched, but what if us dying, converting into Aether and returning again, grants us a greater power or a completely new combat mechanic we can use in 3.0?
Aymeric has incredibly pointy ears.

I'm also fairly certain that's a Hyur.
If this were the case then it would be quite strange to have us getting hit by the beam of light now.
The beam going through the WAR's chest could be the Blade of Aether/Light used to stop Lahabrea and ~you know who~. It could also be something else entirely. The trailer is kind of shrouded in mystery and confusion, it's really hard to make heads or tails of what's really happening. Speculation is fun tho.
I think minfilia is just kept prisoner and chained to that statue with some kind of magic. Still, i do hope we'll say goodbye to her! <3
If they have really showed RDM will be in heavensward, I'll buy the game on day one.
I dunno man. I mean that drawing has him looking straight ahead. His ears look huge compared to a Hyur. Look how far up on his head they stretch. BTW, I never noticed it till now, but his second-in-command has hyur ears, even though she's physically an Elezen. Angles, always the angles.
It's be a nice twist if Ser Aymeric was controlled by the Ascians.
Well years ago Yoshi-P did talk about wanting to get a Melee Mage into FF14 back before FF14ARR was released.
He mentioned Gun Job (now confirmed to be Machinist and release in 3.0), Dark Knight (now confirmed to be released in 3.0), Ninja (release in 2.4), and Melee Mage Job.
Now 3 out of the 4 Jobs he mentioned are or have been released into FF14 which leaves only the Melee Mage but no info for the Melee Mage has been mention since then.
Looking at this image I think it is the warrior of light. I think the armor is the Bahamut Armor.
small thing, that crystal was never stated as hydolyn or as zodiarc, so we cannot say which one of the two it is, also zodiarc's full title is Zodiarc Keeper of the parceps aka keeper of law, the asceans are willing to cause chaos to summon zodiarc, but why would a being of chaos be summoned by chaos, unless he wanted to make it order,
also one thing the game has done is never state which side we are fighting on, we are called the warriors of LIGHT yes, but in some final fantasy games the warriors of DARKNESS are also the good guys, :P SE' loves this grey area also the link name in your file was "darkhydaelyn" so that also points to the uncertainty of this,
i have my own theory that we are causing more destruction under hydolyn and the ascent want to correct all that has been done.
(also do not say we are good because of the characters saying so, the characters saying that are also granted the echo or we are helping there own cause, besides the good batsman of eorzea that word is easily doubted in the long term.)
EDIT
to go along with my theory, which states that hydolyn is actually bad, i image the fact that we have been killing the primal just for them to be resumed taking a lot of aether causes a lot of harm to hydolyn, that or, we are not doing what we are meant to do, the ONLY time she has actively helped us was against ultima a ALLAG weapon capable of CAPTUING the primals, meaning she could of been helping up only to FREE the primal and not due to saving the 5 races, you also have to think with the power she wields why hasn't she got any beast race followers and she insists on tempering the 5 (now 6) races.unless we were lost of the path she wanted us to walk,
though this is all a slight fan theory, but i beleave that hydolyn is actually the dark crystal (pictured above) and the caissons are trying to find a way on purging the world of it, using zodiarc (which could of been the 6 races original primal) aka the one true god of eorzea i point most of this onto elebus and the other asceans they seem to be calm and trying to talk there way and explaining themselves lahabria is more of a extremist compared to the other 13 members so far
also yes i know i was late to this thread it grew FAST o...o
FFIII is the perfect example of this. When you enter the World Of Darkness, you encounter the Warriors of Darkness there. They're summoned to bring balance whenever LIGHT overflows the dark. I wonder if the World of Darkness ties into the Main Story line...
So this makes perfect sense.
Also, as someone pointed out, Iceheart/Shiva claims she is answering hydaelyns call. What if she is the bringer of light who is tipping the scales? What if we eventually side with the Dark after we've noticed the corruption within the light and we have to bring balance to this mess?
That'll be an amazing twist.
It looks more like the Dragoon armor, I think? Mainly because of the chain mail. Nonetheless, if that is truly the warrior of light, I'm pretty excited to progress through the main scenario quest chain. Though, if I had to make an assumption, one of the first few things you'll probably be doing in the quest chain is the Keeper of the Lake dungeon since 2.4 ended with us needing to investigate the area. I assume that after the dungeon is finished that we get stabbed by that arrow of light through the chest. PLOT PLOT PLOT. At which point, you get rescued and brought back to the Rising Stones or somewhere safe.
There's not much information in the trailer itself but I imagine chronologically...
Just a few assumptions;
The Ul'dah thingy should probably happen near the end and cannot happen before Iceheart since Aymeric and Minfilia are present.
The Ul'dah thingy can't probably happen unless the Keeper of the Lake dungeon has been investigated because it was requested by Aymeric.
Minfilia being captured has to happen at the end because she is more or less present in the other scenes.
The part when they break the auracite has to happen before the Ul'dah thingy, since all the scions are present.
Lady Iceheart's appearance may likely occur sometime after the investigation of the Keeper of the Lake, yet also sometime before the Ul'dah thingy, since Aymeric is present.
P.S. Take this as a grain of salt. This whole thing is pure conjecture on my part.
the forbidden land of eureka and the world of darkness are never stated as the void directly and using dissidia exdeath the one titled 'guardian of the void' and 'god of nothingness' when he fights cloud of darkness says 'The Void you desire is false.' meaning the world of darkness may not be a true void, but still in the eyes of the warriors of darkness they saw the warriors of light being evil and if i recall don't they kill the 'flood of light' as the warriors of light kill the 'cloud of darkness'?
Err, Rammbroes or graha cleary says that the world of darkness is how the allagan named the void, and the cloud of darkness is not the cloud of the world of darkness, it's darkess for void, the cloud is a being of the void that is here to destroy the world engulf it in his dark cloudness ( if you can say that ) where time is stopped, it appear when the world isn't balanced, may it be because of light or darkness, so there isn't any cloud food light or wathever. The warriors of darkness aren't the ennemies of the warriors of light as they have the same goal. And I wouldn't take anything from Dissidia if I were you.
that is within FFXIV, i am talking within FFIII where the original lore was stated, this cloud of darkness has been taken and altered to fit within the world of FFXIV and its established lore, as for disced yes it is a side story set in world B but it still would play on the fact of the characters original land and was only used a s a reference to FFIII's world of darkness NOT FFXIV's world of darkness.
as with the warriors of darkness using other games in which they have appeared are the polar opposites and enemies of the warriors of light (then normal combine to fight a evil stronger then what they had intended this includes multiple spin offs as well as ffiii) also FFIII's cloud of darkness was 'banished' from the world of darkness, that could be on how they tied this entity to the one we are seeing in FFXIV. just saying if your going to use the lore on a area / entity that is infused with multiple lores and settings it becomes a rather confusing mess,
also the allag empire froze time by its own mages, that was stated to prevent there destruction, that had nothing to do with the void- entity that we will be facing,
the confusing ness of this entity is followed along other characters such as ultros typhoon and gilgimesh typhon and ultras are monsters from the world of balance not creatures of the void, and gilgimesh was human not voidscent in FF-type-0 he even talks about his village of birth. but in other final fantasy's he is referred to as a void like creature or one with no birthplace, a contradiction.
aka TIMEY-WIMEY WIBBALY WOBBALY
Didn't we already do the grand "Scions secret base is attacked, everyone is broken up and must survive until they can regroup, some lives are lost" and so on. Doing that again seems redundant.
dimensions and i beleave 2 games on mobiles that had mention of this (all the bravest also mentions warriors of dark) but that game is nothing more then cash grab so i do not think that counts
but regardless to go back to the original post of mine FFXIV clouds of darkness may not be the same thing as FFIII's cloud of darkness
edit: a friend of mine, has told me bravely default (a technical final fantasy game that yoshi-p worked on) has a 'true ending' in which you were found to be warriors of dark destroying the crystals for the creator 'oroborous'
Its the Paladin Jenlyns

Kind of, only this time they seem to put up much more of a fight. Last time it was basically a slaughter. Based on the trailer, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see everyone pull through and re-group.
Also, not seeing where people are getting the idea of a betrayal in the trailer. . .
Quoting myself from the Lore section:
"I see two possible setups for this. I'm thinking either the Ascians make a move that drains them; or we willingly consume their aether, itself probably a means of gathering power to attack the Ascians."
There's nothing about that situation that remotely makes me think betrayal.
There are Ul'dah members attacking the Scions.
There have been some hypothesis that one of the City-States may be attacking the Scions under the order of Teledji due to his crave for Power.
(Which is partly why he wanted Omega Weapon since with it his power will be unmatched by any Nation and nothing will stop him from taking what he wants with Omega Weapon)
OP why do you say "betrayal"? Just because it looks like the Scion will fall apart for the start of Heavensward doesn't mean they are betrayed.
Their neutrality is to state that they do not favor any of the 3 City-States.
The Scions are still allied with Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania through political means which is why they still obtain aid (information for their operations and resources to support Revenant Toll's development) from the three city-states.
Well the incident with the Uproars did not escolate until 2.3.
The alliance with Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania was formed through 2.1 to 2.3 because the Scions was more focused on establishing a proper alliance with the three city-states. Of couse through 2.1 to 2.3, the issue in Ul'dah was not well known how sever it was yet since the Scions were still focusing on rebuilding and moving at the sametime.
2.5 is just the point when it finally boils over.
At least it would feel like the rest of the Scions are finally doing something this time even if it demanded a crisis to provoke it. I know we were having to be an errand boy/girl when Revenant's Toll was taking shape, but even now in 2.4 it still feels like we're just running around doing everything ourselves while the Scions sit around and talk philosophy.
The question is, who made Tataru cry??!?
It seems only lalafells are capable of shedding tears in this game.
