Funnily enough, in 1.0 there was one cutscene in the original Gridanian storyline where Yda actually took off her hat:

... but then she wore a Gridanian mask instead in that scene, thus leaving us back at square one. But it at least showed what hairstyle she has under that hat. :p

Unfortunately her current spot (drinking with moen and thancred) makes it hard to properly see her eyes, however, if she gets a better spot in 2.5 at some point of the story, I'll try to remember :3

Ah the generic useless character returns to become a useful character plot.

I'm down with that since it was tiring that Minfillia had to depend on others to do the fighting. There really no point for Minfillia to even carry that weapon she has all the time when she never use it.

Probably for the same reason they designed Lara Croft like they did. Since you're going to be seeing her a lot, might as well make her attractive (although admittedly I'm only up to lvl 38 on the storyline after she gets kidnapped, so I don't know how much more of her I'll be seeing though).
