I get called a troll atleast half the time I post here, however i play pretty much everyday so I guess I am one troll you guys will keep seeing around here.

If this deters one person from posting his infinite suggestions on things of which he knows very little about. I'll give it 10 gold stars.
Surely it can stop at least one... my heart can't hardly take it no mo. lol
For every troll you kill, two more will be born to replace it. It's best to just quaranteen them, and not spread the infection. i suggest a "no holds barred" section
I"m not sure exactly where I stand on this issue. I play this game, but I occasionally take time off, sometimes a month or 2, then come back and completely reroll my character. Thus I haven't progressed passed level 35 yet.
While not allowing people who don't play to post on the forums, might be a good idea as far as, it may help stop people who just post on threads things like "this game sucks" blah blah blah, it will also stop people who may not be playing it full time, but are interested in seeing what direction its going in, to add their thoughts and experiences from other games they might be playing instead.
To narrow the forums down to only the xiv population, which is already in question (threads about low population pop up all the time), sounds a little to me like only catering to the already small popuation of full time players. In other words, almost like closing the door to any outside opinions, lets just stick with the small group we have and make them happy.
I said this a long time ago, on a thread similar to this, outside opinions IMO are at least as important to this games development as opinions from its players.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this game needs to grow. Pleasing the people who already play it, and in some way, already accept it in its current state, isn't helping to gain new players who can't find any form of fun in its current state.
This might sound harsh to say , on forums filled with players of the game, but I would almost go so far as to say some changes that need to be made, might even be things the current players don't want at all. I don't mean drive away people who are playing it, but don't let those people single this game out to be "their game only".
I'm glad they made this feature but I seriously doubt it'll lessen the critique.
Honestly I rarely see completely unfounded critique on these forums (lots of un-necessary though) but people just like to use this "you don't even play" and then stoop to name calling anyway.
Seriously if you spend a lot of time on the forums of a game you don't even play then consider SE doing you a favor by kicking you out.
I thought most of the trolls here were Square-Enix apologists that defended every move SE makes/has ever made..?
Or multiple rank 50 SE haters. "I hate your game so much, I achieved max rank on multiple jobs! I hope that loogey in your eye really STINGS SE!"
Or just people like me, who play, have a valid opinion (sometimes critical, sometimes supportive) of the company/game, but really get a kick out of everyone else blowing a head gasket on forums.
none of ya'll remember ffxi forums too well eh??
players gonna complain about annoying crap, like the anima refresh rate. give me a tele spell.
And by the way, making the FFXI/FFXIV forums inaccessible to non-players is the dumbest idea I've ever heard of. It makes no sense having to link a character to a forum identity to begin with. We NEED the opinions of retired/prospective players to keep the development of the game fresh and inspired. This exclusionary attitude is one of the reasons why FFXI was the "best kept secret" of MMOs. It's really hard to pull in new clients when you don't even provide a convenient venue for them to voice their questions/concerns.
I'm suspecting this is being implemented because of the upcoming payment changes and how players with dual FFXI/FFXIV accounts will be enraged and will use this forum to vent because they won't have access to the FFXI forums when they either can't use Crysta because of their region or would rather forgo being robbed by Click and Buy.
Look at the timing of this, remember when the game was released so early and we couldnt figure out why they did it? Turns out it was a money driven choice(end of the fiscal year bonuses). I am pretty sure this is the same thing. I dont see it detering anyone from posting HOWEVER it could make several people who have not been logging in log in atleast once a month just to post. Yoshi-P and his crew could be getting perfomance bonuses based on how well they are retaining players or bringing players back. Maybe their software that decides if someone is an "active" player considers someone active if they log in once per month. Sounds like another way for SE employees to skew the players numbers to get a better end of the fiscal year bonus to me.
It's exactly "White Knight Amageddon"
because whiners (which white knights called "troll") are actually play the game
while white knight don't even play or never get pass R20 or taking time-off/waiting until the game get better
even Yoshi-P ask for more feedback! who the hell those white knights are? calling people who post negative "troll"
As long as the game doesn't generate any income, every additional player causes nothing but cost. Why should they get a bonus for that?
The best thing for SE right now would be to get the number of players to a bare minimun, essentially treating it like the beta phase it didn't really have, and use the PS3 launch as a "reboot", getting new unspoiled players who don't know about the game's early unlife.
Better explanation for this action: just as most people in this thread assume/hope, it's a measure to reign in the negative word-of-mouth. Even the most expensive ad campaign in the history of SE can't really do much if people left and right are posting how bad the game is. People tend to pay much more attention to recommendations than to advertising.
I love the tag cloud of this thread btw :)
I really just thought it was funny :(
I defend this Game against Trolls/Whiners, which complains about everything, without having arguments or facts. That prolly makes me a white knight?! And most of them dont even play the game, or got a Job above Rank30.
I had to laugh at this one. Of course i dont have a Rank above 20, and of course i do not play?! What kind of nonsense is your statement?
Yes he is asking for Feedback, which means CONSTRUCTIVE POSTS WITH A BACKUP OF ARGUMENTS AND FACTS. Yoshi himself, said that in a couple letters. Check out the other 3 Forums ( Japanese, French, German ), those are the Forums where that kind of Feedback is working out daily, without bitching, whining or trolling.
Rubbish. I don't speak french, but the german and japanese forum are pretty much the same as this one. People pointing out broken stuff, people who want XI-2, people with "wouldn't it be cool if ...", white knights, trolls etc... all the same.
I dont think so. They are pretty much not the same like this one, since i speak both languages and check them out daily.
Pointing out Stuff like:
"Hey there, this is broken.. which i figured while doing it".
;is different to...
"Hey fix this shit, this is bullshit, i ragequit, its all crap".
And even the discussions which are going on in other Forums, are full of respect for other opinions and also considering about implementing opinions into their own view of things. You DONT see 1000 Threads for the same Topic, which starts like "This is crap.. change it", you more see SINGLE Topics like "My Ideas for This & That".
Ninja Edit:
Its not a matter of Pointing out Stuff.. its a matter of HOW people do it.
would love it, if they give us the avatar generates from our active char ^^
So this means they plan to start charging us to play this game later this month, before the game has any real content, still no jobs, still a ton of bugs, and possibly the worst most under developed targeting system I've personally seen.
I guess SE wants to try and make money instead of making sure they have a good game. This seems familiar, I remember it like it was just last year..... Oh, wait, it was.
wow you obviously took whats going on here WAY out of context
this has nothing to do with us being charged for the game
the forums have been in beta since they launched, they are now officialy bringing them up to functional status or whatever you want to call it. They are done testing everything.
the only thing they are doing is making sure you are playing the game in order to post(or at least have an active account that still signs in)
payment has nothing to do with this til its implemented in the future
Hahahahaha.
I applaud you SE.
you know theyve been giving false release dates(stores and distributers) for a while now right?
its when they hope the game will be out on ps3, i wouldnt count on an official date til it actualy hits
you seem like you are one of those extremely negative people though who just cant be happy, so yeah....go do something that makes you happy unless being unhappy is what makes you happy lol
Fair enough.
As for being negative, when we all payed the money for a game and almost 1yr later the game is still not ready for a retail launch, yet they seem to be gearing up for charging, and console release. Well what can I say, I feel like we're being cheated.
I guess all we can do is wait and see, I can only speak for myself but, I won't be paying monthly for a game that still has at least 6 more months of development.
Someone needs to complain about how they're taking out of the old Blizzard book by only allowing active accounts to post on their forums.
Come on!
Someone must come out with it!!
I have to agree, I know some will just complain because this feature or that feature from this or that game isn't there. But I think that will happen with people still playing too. And I'm sure some people have very valid reasons for quitting, but if they have no voice, then what are the chances of that player returning.
Does the fact that SOOOO many ppl that say they love the game, spend SOOOOO much time in forums posting thousands of times say anything about how enjoyable the game is?
LOL, I mean the servers are up and active yet the ones that claim to love the game seem to spend the most time on the forums (bashing ppl that have any opinion thats not to their liking) and not playing, Idk always seemed a bit odd to me =/
