Mudra's seem sluggish?

I too experience this, or when I press it and it does the animation on my screen and then I'll press cast ninjutsu button and it doesn't cast, while I continue my combo I will have the rabbit symbol in my cross hot bar because I continued my rotation. It would be nice if you didn't make it so the rabbit comes up if you continued your combo after your mudra chant is complete. Like after Jin- Chi -Ten if you pressed ninjutsu and it didnt cast. and you continue with spinning edge it wouldn't make the ninjutsu a rabbit.

I'm having a problem with this too. It's like hotbar lag that only affects mudras/ninjutsus. It's really annoying because I'm the ninja in my final cool group. A screw up from nudes lag can cause my dps to drop significantly. Especially if I need to refresh huton.

Gahhh...mudra lag not nudes lag...wtf autocorrect?!

There is lag and not only on mudras it started to appear on other skills (like combo disappearing or you press a skill and it doesn't activate) since 2.4 :/ I'm glad I am not the only one with this.

Maybe the hamsters on the servers gave up?

Go to a housing ward and use Huton. Tap your Ninjutsu at roughly 75% the way through cast and they will queue allowing you to use your next Mudra and fire off Ninjutsu roughly between GCDs easily enough. Go into any instance, engage an enemy, and try the same thing. You'll notice that it doesn't work. Furthermore, if there's any lag on your end it will cancel the second Mudra entirely & ruin the cast unless you were delaying the third Mudra for the new Ninjutsu icon.

This isn't an issue with other jobs because you're A) Weaving instant abilities between 2.5 second GCD & B) allowed to mash the button until it's time for the next ability queue.

The easiest fix for this would be to allow us to weave Ninjutsu between abilities with a 1 second CD. Outside of that you better move to Montreal or Japan if you want to execute Ninjutsu perfectly between GCDs.

Its indeed a very sluggish thing, I've been suffering from it for a while and it causes me to lose dps and to execute the wrong Mudras, or even Bunny sometimes.

I sadly haven't had time to read thread, to see if we are all having the same issues.Mine- are not macro'd(No difference)

I know various things that could be causing it, mostly animation lock. Regardless of even that issue, they feel clunky feel bad to press. It's even worse when they activate out of order. Not only that but they should be clearer, the Kanji animation should light up on the color of the Mudra, so I know exactly which one I'm pressing. I'm sorry, I can read em if I actually payed attention but its absurd. Sometimes I press Ten Chi, and only Chi activates but I'm not sure if it's Chi or Ten that activated at first glance, there's no counter. They don't cancel animations so make em feel extra clunky, unless I activate them after only Spinning Edge/Mutilate as they have the shortest animations. Regardless, Ninjutsu also don't feel good to activate after the mudra, the mudra needs to disappear for ninjutsu to activate because of the 0.5 GCD it shares with the mudra.

Yeah, I've had multiple incidents where my Mudra will visibly animate on the screen for a couple of seconds, but then not register.

I am not talking about double taps here. Say I want to do Ten->Chi->Jin. On the keyboard (or gamepad, doesn't matter), I will input Ten, and then queue up the Chi button within a quarter or half second, before the 'ninjutsu cooldown' has actually finished. Ten will register on my screen, play the audio cue, but then the animation will actually cancel and cause Chi to occur first - the game server totally ignores my input for Ten even though the button registered and the client said that the action was completed.

Essentially the action queue in the game will actually allow the next mudra in the queue to totally overwrite the first mudra to input, usually randomly and based on lag. The result is that you really can't do a 'proper' half-second-per-step ninjutsu, meaning more complex ninjutsus will either actually cause you to enter a small (but noticable) GCD deficit depending on lag.

I've even had moments where the jingle for casting the ninjutsu goes off, along with a portion of the animation, and then whatever weaponskill from my dagger chain I queue next goes in and the Ninjutsu itself is ignored...leaving me with a damn rabbit icon staring back at me. Not good.

Might be animation lock as some have mentioned, I do not know why some skills have much longer animations than others. For example if you use BFB then IR then PD, you will notice that PD activates much faster than BFB and IR do.

Ya can say in a fight ninjutsu tends to lag off.
but again the whole delay system and stuff kinda of needs to be fix for melee as well when chasing a enemy try casting an attack and it starts the animation breaks and and trying to run and cast it keeps breaking the animation/attack.
I believe its because of the whole so ps3 doesn't get left behind(luckily they are phasing this out sometime but sooner be better)

WTFast helps with this problem as it is a delay/lag problem. Similar to getting hit by AoE's when you ran out of the way, or melee attacks not going through even though you are in range. If you use WTFast use a chained connection with the 1st location being nearest you and the 2nd being in canada east if you are on a NA server.

No it does not. I always use WTFast. Tried about a good 30 combinations of chained servers and single servers. None improve the issue.

Playing on NA servers from Korea. WTFast is not enough, by a long shot. >_>

if ping were the only issue, JP players on JP servers (and people who live right next to NA datacenters in Montreal) would have lightning fast mudras (they typically don't; some have a large delay as well)

a lot of the fault for laggy mudras is on the game server's end imo. things like paid vpns didn't really have any effect for my speed when i tried using them

Would be fine with it if it had one set speed, but the problem is it varies. Sometimes its perfectly fine, then other times its so bad I do not even want to play my ninja.

Ikr? Sometimes i would input doton and i would be stuck on fuma shuriken for a few secs which makes me go " oh i must have not press the other 2 mudras" then itd turn into bunny time in an instant without any delay and im like fml lol.
Also when u input a combo and u lag for a few secs the timer will just end and you'll be like fml lol wtf.
Also casting mudras in mog ex = just no lol. With all the aoes and stuff happening on the screen, a lot of miny lag spikes will happen i assume.

Had this happen a lot over the weekend.

Mudras flow like water in open-world gameplay. On s ranks with dozens of people around and abilities flying off everywhere my mudras still come out super fast. Go into a duty though...and here comes the mudra lag. I really like ninja...but plz do something about mudras in duties xD

Has anyone else noticed mudra input also has a delay while moving? Not sure if the movement delay is intended or not.

No different from standing still, as far as I've seen. If there's a lag, it's a consistent lag. If it's on time, it's on time.

I experience this all the time aswell really annyoying. I feel like with the big flashy symbols players could just use those without having to pay attention to the action bar to get a feel for what ninjitsu is readying yet when the lag kicks in and my character is making the hand gestures i stutter/cancell and i get the "cannot execute action error" or w.e at the top of my screen i gotta slow it down and see what ninjitsu i currently got stocked or out comes the rabbit in the hat /cry.

Just so we don't all just assume its ping related...

I live only about a 3.5 hour drive from the servers in Montreal, I have a much better internet connection than this game supposedly requires, and i still suffer from MUDRA LAG!

So in a sense people with higher ping rates should be happy, its not just you!

Just like the rest of us, i have practiced learning the timing of the ninjitsu combos, only to have that timing changed suddenly and unpredictably depending on where i am/ how many people are around me.

It's basically impossible to compensate for the unpredictable nature of the timing of this system! halp us!

At this point i think any 3-mudra jutsu makes me wait at least 1 sec on my GCD in an isntance, and raiton at least 0.5 seconds, and that's a minimum. I could input faster but then i risk being hit by one of those random "mudra + 0.5sec latency special delivery" and getting a bunny.

Overall, at about 3 seconds lost per minutes, its 5% of our dps that is lost to this particular problem when in dungeon compared to on the dummy. That's... pretty huge.

I really hope they notice and fix this, so here's my help keeping the thread alive :)

Having the same problem. The problem is that it can be a .5 skill like it's supposed to be, or a .75 or even more depending on how badly the servers hate you at the moment. So so so so annoying. I've started saving Kassatsu just for when the servers screw me over. Better having my Huton than getting an extra 1k Raiton :/

Leveling NIN in my spare time, noticed this too.

The amount of time it takes for the mudras to register varies a bit.

Maybe they should do it client side, i.e. only send the mudras after Ninjitsu is hit, then send them all at once.

PS: They should do this for Swiftcast too - another ability that doesn't do anything by itself but modify the ability following it.

I'm having huge lag spikes and disconnections left and right tonight, which enabled me to experiment with Mudras in a way I've never been able to before, as when you're disconnecting from the server there is no server check and your skills fire off immediately.
Holy crap, what a night and day difference this makes. My mudras seem to come off at twice the usual speed and it's silky smooth instead of being really inconsistent.

This is with a moderate ping (<80ms) and Battleping, from Europe (yeah I know, we're getting a dedicated data center, but you have people leaving near Montreal complaining in this very thread).

The "Mudra lag issue" isn't a specific one, I'm pretty sure it's just a very noticeable instance of bad netcode. There's no doubt this game is a success and we're paying a monthly fee for it (on top of microtransactions and a paid expansion to be), it's a bit of a shame we still have so many netcode/server issues almost one year and a half after launch.

There is literally no way that they could not fix it on their end. If the design you implement for skills doesn't work for a very large portion of your player base, and there's no way around it, then you change the design.

Get rid of or modify the gcd, whatever, it's something they can fix. If it requires rebalancing, then so be it.

There's a lot of things they could change on the design of it that would help people with packet loss/latency. Just off the top of my head, they could make it so you can tell at a glance what mudra you activated, and/or make it so that not using the actual ninjutsu action doesn't incur the 20 second CD.

There are some things that cannot be jumped over yes, but people are asking more for diffirent design of mudra system alone i think becouse stuff like ping will always take a factor and 0.5 cooldown is not really created well for this.

On a side note, someone told me interesting info yesterday:

Apparently you can check how good is your mudra god today if you spam 1 mudra untill you cant do it anymore
if you manage to press it 12 times its good
I did few tries yesterday and im getting 8 times sometimes 9
