Qarn HM last boss was stupid easy. It was borderline boring. I don't see what your problem is
I did not have problems with this fight the two times I did it. I even got mummified once. Maybe they were good groups?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A number of the other bosses in the new dungeons had a wipe when the group went in blind (Fenrir, Sabotender, Kraken). Over all I though things were pretty good. I'm sure we'll outgear them and they'll just become boring again in short order. This is the nature of the thing.
This reminds me of how people saw regular Qarn. "Hey do you guys wanna run this dungeon?" "which?" "Qarn." "God no!"
Had no issues with snow cloak or qarn, sastasha on the other hand, both second boss and final are all out messy and nasty and way over tuned.
Though it will get easier as we all gear up, still shouldn't be the that hard though
This was me for the longest time. I still say that about Pharos Sirius, but that sense of impending frustration will probably go away with time.
We had problems with the gun fire once and then changed strategy to ignore the adds and focus on the boss when he starts shooting and that seemed to work okay. Final boss was chaotic but we completely ignored the tentacles and I'm not 100% sure we should have.
Haven't run Snowcloak yet, I'm looking forward to that one.
I agree with you on Qarn. It wasn't too bad. I liked the final boss. The mummy transformation bit is hilarious. I had to keep reminding myself that the edges are a bad place to stand as if you're under the coffins when they come up you get instant stacks.
What are you talking about? I did for the first time yesterday and I found it easy, if u cant dodge that you have work on dodge
Yeah we done same tactic after the wipe, ignore adds focus on boss, tho we took out the leech healer , then just LB the adds when he ran off
Qarn HM was clearly designed by someone on drugs, it's hilarrious, all bosses were perfect and last boss made me laugh hard
Wiping and running out of time and vote abandoning is all part of the game. Nothing is wrong with that. Take your time and enjoy the journey.
Nothing wrong with any of the 3 new expert dungeons. Going in blind no guides, Sastasha 2nd boss took 20 wipes from 2 separate runs to figure out definitively what was going on, but once you know it is all very straightforward. It won't be long before it is all going be like Brayflox HM. Enjoy this while it lasts, before speedrunners run roughshod over everyone.
This is expert dungeons, take some time to figure it out. No echo is needed once it is figured out. Sastasha HM second boss will be rough if the DPS can't burst enough dps when it counts, and I had groups with DPS who were undergeared and I was healing, it was not working. Go in with my FC with 2 summoners (not known for burst dps) but they were adequately geared, the 2nd boss was no problem at all, cleared the whole dungeon without a single wipe.
This is why we can't have nice things...
I dunno. I did it fine with my friends. I was monk and my buddy she was bard. I got hit by this AOE you speak of twice but thats only because the tank had to move the boss and it eventually faced me which kind of sucked.
just keep doing it everyday and a month later people are gonna brag about how this game is too easy and not enough hardcore content.
I dunno, people were really struggling to not get hit by the laser for some reason, maybe it's just not particularly friendly to people with connection issues or something?
And it only seems to be a problem if, like I said I get DF people who are just unprepared/undergeared. I just really wish either the ilvl needed was a bit higher, or just give us echo if we've been wiping.
sometimes it's really hard to healcarry some of these people with way too low Vitality for this content.
Getting hit by that laser is like getting hit by Glower from the second boss in AV. You have to watch where the boss is staring and the cast bar. If he's staring at you, get the hell out. It comes down to people not paying attention I think. I got hit by it and felt embarrassed each time because I knew it was because I did not pay attention to what the boss was doing.
The boss doesn't need a nerf, its fine as it is.
I'm actually noticing a trend in this thread. The people who are whining about the dungeons being over tuned seemed to have run the dungeon only once or twice before coming here to complain. Just because you can't faceroll a dungeon on your first or second run doesn't make it "hard". Have any of these people complaining even done coil at all without nerfs/ echo buffs?
1) If you go in with a premade group the 90 minute times is kinda unnecessary.
2) Sastasha Boss 2 doesn't communicate clearly enough that it is DAMAGE that interrupts him. At least it's not really clear in the German client. He sometimes does emote "ouch that hurt" but not after every interrupt.
Had to go to the forums to figure it out. After that we needed a way to do it with 2 BLMs... ended up saving fire phase for the shooting and mainly DPSed adds and him with ice. Worked nicely.
Since I read complaints about the first boss being unfair to healers:
His big damage hit cannot kill people. It merely drops them to 1%.
Solution: Dispel ASAP -> heal peeps back up to 30-50%. No need to stress out to top everyone off.
Do that and it gets faceroll easy, even if no one stuns him.
Rest of the bosses are pretty straight forward. Had a few laughs with the mummy boss. :D
o.o Qarn last boss hard? lol. All you have to do is dodge mummies, interrupt the laser beam attack and then thats pretty much it :/ the other mechanic that line tethering no idea what it does but it has yet to cause a wipe for me
Hard Satasha's FIRST boss gave me more issues than Hard Qarn's last, really.
No, please let's not ask for any more nerfs of anything. I'd rather have content that keeps me on my toes and challenges me than something I can clear with only one hand, half asleep.
Qarn was fantastic! How is it overtuned? Did you miss a mechanic?
Sadsauce. Was in a group last night to cap tomes and got StashaHM. Healer was new so I figured there would be some trouble. But dang. Three wipes on first boss. Even with me stunning the tail swipe(or whatever it is). Finally beat it. I give the info to the kids about LoS and running through the Cap'n during bang bang as well as durst dmg. Three wipes to that coz they didn't believe me. Last boss, I tell em, 2-4 arms burn em. 6+ arms leave em alone. Well the WHM has a different idea that they liked better coz they enjoyed death I suppose. Wipe one, I restate my strat. Wipe two....well we had 5 mins left and told em to try it. It was working but we ran out of time.
It's not hard, just have to think.
I have done that dungeon four times. Three with my dear ninja and one with dragoon.
My first time I got mummified as expected!... We wiped two times but at the end we did it!
My second time we only wiped once and it was a quick run and funny one.
My third it was a disaster because the healer kept getting mummified, and when that happens the boss starts to rage and deal a lot of damage that was not being healed at all. (And when tank gets mummified DPS and healer rather start run)
My four was awesome quick run and one shouted...
Just let it time to people to know how to deal with it ^^... I have to say I like the mechanic to dodge it (Especially the ray, I feel I have an advantage for dodging it being melee, rather, NIN)
Referencing the laser. He has a wind up so no one should be hit by it. It's a huge telegraph and it has a cast bar.
The boss is simple enough - no need to change it
Threads like this ruined AK and Pharos Sirius, please stop.
I did all 3 new dungeons as Healer White Mage (around ilvl 94 on my 2 chars) on 2nd day after released patch.
Didnt had any problem on bosses. I didnt let any1 die o:
Well If I play healer I barely ever(more never) atk stuff :P
I just focus being a healer!
Only 1-2 "Normal" wipes on Snowcloak bosses cuz no1 knew the mechanics what to do :P
I found Kraken boss is entertaining! xD
(on the 2nd boss that dungeon, that gunner captain dude, I just stand in the middle of the field. In case I get bind and cant move. So my party members arent out of my healing spells o: )
The only boss I didnt liked was Fenrir. <-<; Abit to short time to hide his 1hit K.O. combo atk!
Oh and what is "Undergeared" people? o-o I mean those dungeons need ilvl80 right? So how can people be undergeared?
No clue, really.
Am I the only player that really never check people there gears? lol
I see there true skills in battles, because a set of strong gears are no mirrors of player his skill!
I did all 3 as a whm with ilvl 80. I don't have any cross-class ability yet besides virus, which I didn't use anyway. I also did them with 3 other people I could not communicate with and they themselves were also probably new (map achievement). And I did all 3 without knowing the mechanics beforehand. I only wiped on the first boss of Qarn (Broken Adjucator).
All 3 are definitely doable. The only boss that seemed weird was Kraken, but that was only because his HP seemed to go down very slowly. Anyway, please don't nerf them. They will only get easier when our ilvls go up.
Maybe you should try to understand the mechanics first before concluding that they are difficult. Give it some time. I am sure one day you will say that the mechanics are doable, once you fully understand how each mechanic works.
Even if it is difficult, some difficulty isn't so bad!...
Damn, Brayflox normal is harder than Brayflox hard, do you understand how painful is that?.... (There's more prob you wipe in a Brayflox normal, eespecially because tank or healer failures there, than in one of the new EX dungeons).
Cutter's cry first boss...Aurum Vale...And some more others from low level dungeons that are actually harder than hard modes...(If not everyone knows the fight, you'll wipe, while in some of the newest you can still faceroll a lot of the content...)
Please no nerf, not everyone likes to form statics and go coil of boredom, we want some difficulty in 4-man content too.
I'd even encourage Square Enix to make some kind of content similar to coil of boredom but with 4-man people, even if it wouldn't be in DF, it's not so difficult to find three more persons and give it a try.
.... Gave me an idea, i'm going to do another of those suggestion-never-attended topics now.
The new dungeon bosses are fine. They just require players to know the mechanics.
Quarn- As soon as you are drawn in by the beam, the boss needs to be stunned. Done properly you should have only 1/2 stacks.
Snowcloak- As soon as he starts howling, LOS him.
Sastasha- Melee attack the normal tentacles and range on the ranged tentacles.
If there's a one-shot mechanic (or close to it) it most likely was supposed to be interrupted.
Its not that hard when people know the mechanics of the fight and stay on their toes avoiding the slashing ranged attack and mummies etc. Other than when the boss starts going after other party members the rest of it is really easy, even when does go after other members it not that hard to get through it if paying attention to who's being targeted and such. I ran it over half dozen times already on my ilvl95 character and haven't failed to get through it even once before timer ended regardless of if have new players present. Satashas final boss the Krakken is far more annoying than anything in Qarn or Snowcloak.
In my first run (in duty finder) we killed this on our first try, and all of us got too many stacks at least once and had to wait to be released (two people got it twice I believe).
Seems a bit too easy if anything, considering nobody has any substantial poetry/final coil gear yet.
It's not too easy, it's actually about right. It's called hard mode not extreme mode of which it is on par with what the middle level of difficulty between easy/hard and extreme should be. It shouldn't need poetic gear or end game raid gear to do a hard mode 4 man dungeon. Those sort of gears are for extreme mode trials plus end game raids.
If a random team of people who have never done it before and didn't even communicate can ignore half the mechanics in a fight and still win with gear that was introduced to the game over six months ago, then it is too easy.
You say it should be the middle ground of content between coil and other hard mode dungeons, and I completely agree with you, which is why it should be harder than this.
Never done it before does not mean they have not read up on forums or guides about how things work, does not mean they never got tips and hints or advice from their FC or friends. These sort of things are what most people do before even try a dungeon. I have not failed to complete any HM's on first run even if some fights cause a wipe or two in the process when watching to see what tricks the boss has up it's sleeve. Personally I do not find any other HM dungeon prior to these ones to be much if at all harder than the new ones.
I think SE have the naming wrong to be honest and should be normal mode is the easy mode, hard mode is more akin to normal mode and extreme is the actual hard mode. In almost every normal mode dungeon it is always easy in my experience, almost all hard modes I have ran tend to have maybe couple wipes but finish it in time as people learn quickly and most read up on them before enter to begin with. It is only the extreme which should just be called hard mode which is actually hard and requires a lot of learning and practice plus higher gear check requirement.
Treat the laser like coin counters glower and you're good to go. Also from personal experience NEVER stand on the edges of the arena where coffins might pop up, coffins give you mummy stacks and very quickly....I got 4 stacks in about 2 seconds flat because a bunch of them spawned under my feet.
Just as a note I actually find the fight more exciting and fun (depends if you have a group with a sense of humour or not) when people get mummy, ofc not good if the healer gets it but the first time I ran it we all got mummy at least twice and it was probably the funnest run Ive had in the game yet. FYI we didn't wipe once, its not hard and doesn't need a nerf. Its the easiest dungeon of the three to be released, Sastasha HM second boss is the pug destroyer of 2.4.
