With this system I hope they are then releasing more colours of dye, and by then, lowering the amount produced per synth down to 3-4.

How about HQ version of the dye when you convert a plain to colored.
Maybe it sparkles or something different if you HQ the dying process (not change an items quality, just the quality of the dying process) Something different, so some might want a hq color and others might want NQ color... Gives more to strive for if the HQ color is better looking.
Graphic sucks in that game but the coloring system is great.
If it was me I would make it like that but add a system where you have to have the color dyes and at same time if you have 2 different dyes you can mix the color to make a new color.
If you want to color your armor blue it will cost (2x) blue enamel
If you want to color your armor yellow it will cost (2x) yellow enamel (doesn't exist just saying as example)
If you want to color your armor green it will cost (1x) green enamel OR (1x) blue + (1x) yellow
Meh mixing part might be hard but the cost like that, so you can't switch colors anytime you want you would have to have the color dye which might be hard to obtain or only higher level mobs drop so it still gives a sense of players with X color = skilled/high rank player. Example Dark Metalic black from Bahamut ... lol Radiant Metalic Blue from Leviathan. The dye can have pattern on them kind of like.. from Metal gear 3, 4 where you choose the pattern.
I hope they add this I would like to have the option to have my armor a different color. more options is a good thing ^^
I like Reinheart's suggestion with mixing the color dyes to make different colors. I wonder how hard it would be to implement, although I imagine it should not be really hard, I mean MS paint has a color palette.
My hope here is that, with whatever reworking of the item database is needed for materia slotting, that the coloring of item by creating 'different' items is going to be eliminated.
For your example of a cotton acton (blue) : this would no longer be stored as unique item named "Cotton Acton (Blue)", but would be converted to the more generic item "Cotton Acton" with the various color attributes (three or four) set to the same colors as the old "Cotton Acton (Blue)". This would allow us players to more freely mix colors for "Cotton Acton", thus creating a lot more possible variety then the four possible now (since undyed actons are not synth-able).
The current system of dying is a little clunky, but what really gripes me is that there are such a restricted set of color combination options for each piece of gear. Hopefully THAT will be going away.
can i bedazzle my scutum
DO it anyway
Each colored item has its own unique entry in the item database at the moment so it will be quite a big headache for SE to re-do this idea.Quote:
It could be as simple as adding a new set of recipes (I know, more complex than it sounds, but less complex than some answers).
The current system is admittedly pretty retarded.
I agree. I've thought players should have access to consumable dye items that can be used to change the color of their gear since back in beta.
I'm actually surprised this game hasn't implemented a "vanity tab," especially since so much of its community has very strong opinions on what their character's gear looks like.
