Time Warner upgraded their speed a bit with Google Fiber rearing its head in Austin, TX.
Yeah... waiting for them to hit the Carolinas... one day. Bids have been submitted for new fiber in the Raleigh-Durham area (from a competitor, not TWC), and AT&T is slowly expanding their U-Verse offerings throughout the region (DSL speeds above 6Mb, as well as TV services). We really need some competition here to put a fire under TWC-SC's butt.

Connecting from Denmark.
A lot of bandwidth lost when connecting overseas unfortunately. Latency is bearable, but not spectacular.
This is what I usually see with servers in Europe in general:

God I love this non-profit ISP. I pay ~20$/month for this.
Really looking forward to the European Datacenter though! Woooh!
God this patch downtime is killing me +___+
I just did a ping test for ffxiv us server got "88ms" wondering what's very one getting
Here's how to test ping:
1. Open up a the run interface (Windows Button + R).
2. Type in ‘CMD’ – this will bring you to the command prompt.
3. Type in ‘PING <IP Address>’ – you can find IP addresses of each FFXIV ARR server below.
4. At the bottom you will be given the minimum, maximum and finally your average ping.
North America Datacentre | square-enix.montreal.com | IP address: 184.107.107.176
Europe Datacentre | eu.square-enix.com | IP address: 209.130.141.243
Japan Datacentre | jp.square-enix.com | IP address : 202.67.53.202
My average results from Newcastle NSW with ISP Internode are: Japan:158, Europe:296, North America:264.

Here's Mines :3 I'm ready... now only if my router didn't crash if it dl at 2.0MB+ for extended periods of time :/
Agreed. What's sad is my inet was literally 1/5th of that yesterday, until I called and scheduled a tech to come swap out my modem/router for a newer one that could support the new speeds. I didn't even pay for this upgrade, this is just standard for what I pay now. Amazing how when real competition starts coming around, you suddenly get 5x more for your money. Time Warner advertises speeds up to 300mb, and Fiber was said to be capable of 1G last I heard.
Wrong server IP addresses. Not sure where you got them from.. but those are website hosting servers (not even on Ormuco's segments either).. they are not used for the game.
To get a better metric, need an actual game server. Can get them with netstat/resmon once you are fully logged into the game. Otherwise, you can use the lobby servers:
neolobby01.ffxiv.com
neolobby02.ffxiv.com
neolobby03.ffxiv.com
neolobby04.ffxiv.com
neolobby05.ffxiv.com
neolobby06.ffxiv.com
Odd addresses are in Japan, even ones are in Canada.

B- sounds bad. I guess my internet is bad even though I'm suppose to be getting the best in my area. lol
I also don't know why we are posting these but I'm bored.
1.75 download
T_T
I got the info from http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...4/forum/43814/ I will try that website you have ones server go's up

So, my modem is like 10 years old and Charter says they don't even support it any more. Is it bottlenecking me?
Most time for game patches is spent actually uploading and replacing files in the database, not doing programming work. This is why patches aren't available to download from the normal patcher until near the end of maintenance but pre-patching is possible.
Interesting, I'll bite.
Using my connection from Denmark, speedtest says the following, connecting to Seattle:
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3864457485
My connection in general, in Europe: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3864429235
N. American Datacenter:
Ping statistics for 184.107.107.176:
Minimum = 104ms, Maximum = 109ms, Average = 105ms
European Datacenter:
Ping statistics for 209.130.141.243:
Minimum = 37ms, Maximum = 38ms, Average = 37ms
Japanese Datacenter:
Ping statistics for 202.67.53.202:
Minimum = 285ms, Maximum = 287ms, Average = 286ms
Did they move the European Datacenter already? Usually I get latency in the 120's..
EDIT: Nevermind, don't know what I'm pinging but it's not the game lobbies..
Thanks thread. I still don't know what you're about, but you prompted me to call my ISP to ask why I'm not getting the speed I'm paying for.
Original post is over a year old... likely some information copy/pasted from information that was out there during beta or something. We've posted it over and over in the forums about how those IP's are invalid, and how to find the proper IP's. At least in the post you sited it actually gave the DNS names of the IP's... which should be a big clue that it's not a game server: eu.square-enix.com (go ahead... click it). But anyway... now more people will <hopefully> note that those addresses are invalid as game servers.
The front-ends for our worlds are still up, so the IP's are still responding to pings... for now at least:
The lobby servers are currently offline though, so you could only ping the world servers by their IP's. Just don't know which one your client is using yet.Code:Pinging 199.91.189.30 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 199.91.189.30: bytes=32 time=51ms TTL=239

Ping statistics for 199.91.189.30:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

How is everyone not on Gigasbit internet yet?

Definitely don't lose what I'm currently paying for. I also live an hour and a half from Montreal so there is that.
...gods i'm bored. Running speedtests to Montreal. I always do that when I test out my internet connection. I ALREADY KNEW THIS! -_-
I look forward to ruining my body overnight with constant caffeine intakes and going to work in the morning without any sleep. Just to run around in the damn game for a few hours. Patch pls.
that... and why upgrade when you can let everyone limp along on copper and still charge them an absurd premium price because no one else can match/exceed your top tier sub-gigabit speed? Base price for 15Mb is almost $60/month with no promotional rate in place... and even then it can still run you $40 or more depending if you are new or an existing customer.
Such a rip off... simply because the only alternatives in the area is at best 6Mbit from ADSL, or Wireless/Satellite with their ridiculous latency and datacaps.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/3864498121.png
My net so good! Even comes with 6% packet loss and I only have to pay $45 a month!
http://www.speedtest.net/result/3864500619.png
Gimme that patch already, its gonna take hours to download!!
http://www.speedtest.net/result/3864503780.png
I pay $80 a month for this lol.
ADSL2+ isn't too bad. For the longest time, it was the best that we had here unless you went with cable, and even then it often times outperformed cable. The problem with cable here is that it is inconsistent: connections to the popular speedtest sites are given priority status, and speeds during the weekend SUCK... That's what happens when your connection is shared on a giant friggin' loop with other leeches.
Now that we have 40mbit and 100mbit symmetric up/down VDSL2 connections, the cable provider is starting to feel the heat.
Okay so everybody is posting their speeds, I guess I should post mine.

This is a 4g LTE system off of a cell tower around 7 miles away. Can't really complain about it I guess as I do live in the sticks of Montana....Not too long ago my speeds were half of that....
The system is capable of higher speeds and we might get a 6MB download option in the near future.

don't let the speed test fool you, my ACTUAL download speed is 130 kbps. I might have to tell my raid group to go without me today :(
