What happened to 800k personal housing?

Eh. We already know most of the small houses in the existing wards are owned by "satellite" FC's that are just parts of very large, rich FC's. Personal housing is pretty much just letting people do this without having to sidestep it.

Hey, we're getting new wards so FC's/individuals that want to upgrade to Medium/Large can do so. *shrugs*

I'm torn as to whether I should pick up a personal house or not. I really like my FC house so I might just leave the plot to someone else that doesn't have one and actually would like it. Then again, I do like to decorate... :3

I'm totally going to make a killing selling furniture, though. :P

That is certainly different, and that dev post is completely contrary to the system we see in the patch notes. I am just sick of that 800k figure popping up like it has in the very title of this thread, it wasn't even true when it was stated in 2.0

Also the fact that the reality is so different from the dev post should give you guys healthy skepticism by now about what devs say and how they shouldn't be taken as binding promises. Instead I see people meticulously recording every little thing a dev or CM has said as gospel and using it to compile a list of things in every patch. Doing that just sets yourself up for disappointment. We don't know what's in a patch before the notes come out and need to stop spreading misinformation.

Just remember, in addition to the plot prices, there is also the construction cost for the house. (maybe the savings is there?) And then to add personal rooms... if it's like FC housing, add another 300,000k into the mix.

I've put up with minor disappointments in previous patches. This is a pretty big one. I'm not leaving, but my faith in future stuff is definitely gone.

Only because they did say that personal housing would be cheaper. And their whole reasoning for fc housing costing so much was "so players can work together to purchase land."

It does bring to mind old RMT conspiracy theories from XI.

I'm generally not one to question too much of why things are done the way they are with this game, but the pricing is honestly a subject that should be addressed. I mean, yeah, servers generally have better economical progress to options that would earn people gil (compared to how it was maybe 6 months ago), but you don't completely negate statements that were said without a heads-up... when those old statements were intended to be a heads-up. You don't say that the prices are going to be cheaper than FC housing, stick with that concept, then do a 180 and decide it'll be exactly the same. Likewise, was it ever stated that personal housing was going to be allowing for M and L houses? I coulda swore I read somewhere that it was going to be the same as S size (implying no other options).

Mind you, I don't really care about the pricing (as I'm well off as is, and can wait for the L to drop some in price before I buy one), but I don't respect the secrecy behind going back on a statement that everyone was banking on. The 850k thing is completely irrelevant, and exact figures like that are nearly always going to change. Besides that, the 850k was never a set minimum or anything. It was just a number that was thrown out to him, which was responded with an implication that you're gonna need a lot more than that.

Just posting this here to say that, do you realize what the impact on the economy would be if every single person could own their own garden?

I don't really see whats wrong with this when every ingredient from our garden is linked to vanity or raising the level of our Chocobo.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the profitability of Gardening items atm... but I just don't think it will always be this way.

I think you underestimate the laziness that your peers have. If people are willing to pay 20k for a low lvl HQ armor, 5-10k for an HQ silver ingot, etc... I'd say that's a sign that the impact of dropped prices is going to be severely temporary. After a month (which would only be around 5-10 full harvests per player), those prices will shoot back up. If anything, the only increased impact will be on the soils and seeds. But again, after that month, it'll stabilize itself again.

Everyone wants handouts. You want a house, earn it. Me and my boyfriend started our own fc ranked it up on our own (no other members) with 2 alts to buy a house. At first we saved for a small (4.5 million). Then a medium (25 million). We did NOT use rmt or sell carries, we worked damn hard playing the market/crafting to get it legit. All the people complaining that all they want is their dream house could have done the same thing we did. Work for it. You now are afforded an option to buy without grinding up a fc first, something not available previously. It is a good change. And if it was that important to you, then you should have saved and worked harder for more gil not knowing how much it would cost. I mean, really, did you honestly think it was gonna be cheap? Yes, it would have been nice if it was a new special feature different from fc housing but clearly as a business that was not an option.

Do players even know how easy it is to make 2 mil?

It's like eveyone just wants everything handed to them.

Look forward to 3.0 when your toon's rich auntie dies and you inherit a mansion fully furnished with 10 gardening plots!

I think that without "fc rank 6" filter, number of wards added should be dozens and dozens times more than it happened now. For me, leveling fc to rank6 was more difficult than obtaining necessary amount of gil to buy la d and house. Even low level crafter can get 3-4-5 mil gil for a month or less.

Another bad thing i see - when land plots are limited resource, they become a food of resellers. I think that more massive addings of wards can make this kind of buisness nonprofitable. Maybe it should be better to stop land price drops - i see that free plots ends very before next expansion.

It has nothing to do with wanting things handed with little effort. The issue is that they said it would be cheaper than fc housing.

If they had said, from the start, that personal housing would cost as much as fc housing, there would be some groaning still, because one of the reasons they said fc housing would cost so much is because they wanted fc members to come together to get it. That's all well and fine. 5 people in my fc did work really hard to buy a small house.

So yes. There still would have been groaning and some rage. But most likely a lot less.

It isn't that people don't want to work for it. It's that we've been mislead, at least a couple times now.

Seems this is the way for SE to fix the issue of players forming 1-man Free Companies to get an FC house all for themselves.

They made it a regular thing and removed the FC requirement.

Seems I don't have enough to get my personal large house as I wanted, but at least my friends and I will be able to finally get our FC a small.... I hope I can make it.

I agree with this, cause me and my wife did the same thing.
At the same time, I still think its complete crap they lied about prices being way lower and instanced.
We did that work for an FC house, but for personal housing , SE just straight bullcrapped everyone.

It's called Plan B by SE.

This was a major feature for me and they just killed it. I am so fed up with this game, RNG and pointless gil sinks. It's time to move on.

like another said, they should turn the inn room onto our personal rooms (like the MH of 11) like it should of been from the start...

You know for an MMO that has serious RMT issues, crap like this sure as hell isn't helping reduce it, to many weak people as is, all this will do is make them more attractive for weak/terrible players, which means far more black listing in the future.

Talk about reverse progression.

I was also looking foward to this but with those prices it's not going to happen, I just want to know why we were we lied to, this is NOT "far more affordable"

SE sucks at communication and managing expectations. =/ nothing can really be done about it.

If you roll with a Coil static and sell carries on your alts that's how to afford a house. Who would've guessed. It's no mystery as to why they oppose unlocked 2nd Coil in solo queue Duty Finder.

Remember when 2.0 was going to keep the old combat system? Remember when 2.0 was going to release on January 2013? Remember when CT was going to be included at 2.0's launch? Remember when FC housing would only cost "about 3.x the gil you can make from leveling from 1 to 50"? Remember when FC Primal summoning and roaming primals were heavily advertised and planned to be launched shortly after launch? Remember when the Golden Saucer was heavily advertised and scheduled for around 2.3-2.4? (though you can still give them the benefit of doubt on that one, but going by recent interviews it most likely won't make it to 2.4)

You should know by now to never ever trust anything that's mentioned about this game, it'll only result in disappointment every time.

To shave off some of the disappointment, I'm just telling myself that I want to live in Ward 13 (because lucky number, right?) or 14 (because XIV, hah) and in the month I'll have to wait for 2.4 for those to open, I'll have enough gil to outright buy the house I want.

I'm also prepared for SE to say in one month, "Sorry, did we say double? We meant to say 'Here's 2 more wards for the entire server!'"

it is 500k cheaper, the price for medium first plot on excalibur use to be 38, now it is 37,5

Nope its not, if you read the patch notes its said that a seventh and eight ward will be added ... and that the prices are the same only in plot 1 to 6. So you ll have cheaper houses in these last two

Because it is exactly the same. SE basically copy/pasted more FC residential housing zones and now allow individual players to purchase land without an FC.

They're not selling personal housing. They're selling FC housing. The personal part comes from the earning and paying of the gil.

Like always. I'm not even mad because i was expecting this.

I am a little divided at the moment. My predictions would have been a new lot of wards dsigned with only small-type housing purchased for a lower amount. So I never expected to have to afford more than a small house. And while I can afford a small house on Masamune, I am not sure if I want to invest in that now. Really the main reason for wanting a house is to have access to gardening facilities, so a) I can grow whatever I want and b) not put too much burden on the FC gardener who is already juggling a number of orders.

But I am not sure if I want to lay down 4-5M for a garden. House decorating doesn't hold that much facination for me (in fact my personal room is soley decorated by things my retainers have brought).

In 2.4 there is likely to be pricing drops as well as a doubling in the number of wards available. So rather than frantically try to buy what small plot I can get when servers come up, I could just wait on it and take my time in a few months when it will be easier and cheaper to get the house I want.
