I am convinced any luck people are having with the calculator is just that, luck. I've been bouncing around trying to hit charcoal grey for days now. It'll go from a baby poo green to a almost grey blue to a brighter green to a dark blue to a purple.

Nothing will ever be perfect, that wasn't meant to be a criticism and I hope it didn't come off that way. It was just my personal experience that I didn't hit it first try, where some have gotten it on the first try feeding this way.

As I said before, this is the first thing I've read that's made sense. This was FINALLY the "Ah ha!" moment for me. It certainly has the best, and most consistent results I've seen so far as well. I think you've definitely gotten some of the doors unlocked here. I have an alt and would be happy to color test her chocobo with this system if that would be beneficial in any way. LMK!

This is getting beyond frustrating.

Deepwood Green>Kobold Brown loop again, I fed it ONE VALFRUIT as suggested, it procced a plumage change, 6 hours later KOBOLD BROWN.

I'm at the end of my rope. Is this just it? I can't get Soot Black, have to waste god knows how much money starting completely over?

And even then it's not a guarantee that it won't end up being even more money in the toilet.

Help please. I've been wanting to go to Rolanberry Red. I started out at Regal Purple, I followed tips, guides, the calculator, and the spreadsheets. I always seem to end up with Dalamud Red instead, then when I try to get Rolanberry Red from there I get back to Regal Purple. I'm so confused atm. I'm not sure what to do ; ; currently on Dalamud Red atm. Staying put cause I'm tired of being stuck on these two.

Looking for expert help on changing my chocobo's color. I wanted regal purple, and have achieved that color via 'blood red' > 'regal purple' with 17x O'Ghomoro Berry, 15x Xelphatol Apple and 18x Valfruit 1st feeding, and then 3x Valfruit and 1x O'Ghomoro Berry on the 2nd feeding. I'm not thrilled with the color though and would like it a bit lighter and have decided on 'lavender purple'. I've researched and seen I need to use 11 × Pineapples, 13 × Valfruit, 18 × Plums. Can anyone confirm the fruit quantity I listed is correct and assist me in how to break down the feeding distribution so I don't overfeed one color.

Blame it on SE.:p Some RGB values are very close, and the same fruit can span 3-4 color range. What color are you at ATM?

Feed 2 plums and 4 berries to get it to Midnight Blue (wait 6 hrs) (25, 26, 57) (KB -> SB -> DW -> Ink Blue -> MB)
then feed it 3 or 4 pineapples to get it to Soot Black (MB -> IB -> SB)

I went through another loop in the time between your two last posts, I'm back at DWG, using one plum. How many feeds/what would I feed to get to MB from DW?

Should I feed it a valfruit to go back to KB, and then start from there instead?

1 valfruit, then 3 berries. You will proc on the berries, but feed it 3 so we can push the RG to the lower end.

Uhm, ok I'm kinda freaked out.

As I mentioned before about 6 hours ago before I saw your messages, I fed the bird a valfruit to move it to KB, since I was like "whatever, I'm in a loop so what's the worst that can happen if I keep going with it?"

Anyway, while I was writing this post I got confused about what color it was currently "before the change applied by the valfruit", and when I go to check its color since it still has 50 minutes before it actually changes...

It claims that it is Soot Black. Is the game screwing with me or is it telling me what color it will be before the cutscene plays and I finally reached it?

Yep the game is screwing with me -.- I hate this game. This isn't fun. This isn't fair. I'm tired of dealing with this crappy system.

I've never seen it change in the window before actually changing, should I have ripped it out of the stable beforehand? Now that I've fed it all this other crap I'm at wits end

Likely too late, but if the Companion->Appearance says Soot Black, and your bird isn't, I will report that in the IN GAME BUG section for sure.

So my chocobo has bounced around through so many colors. I tried to follow your system to get my Dalamud Red out of the Regal Purple/Dalamud Red loop and he ended up becoming Abyssal Blue instead of Soot Black. So I tried to follow a different route and now he is Marsh Green. How do I go from Marsh Green to Soot Black?

According to this people got from Marsh Green to Soot Black in one O'ghomoro berries proc.

You need to sing "I feel for you" (Chaka Khan BGM) to your bird for it to play nice. :p

But this may be useful info. From MB->KB it would have taken 4 pineapples + 2 apples, and you got there with 3 pineapples, which means you gained extra 1 pineapple and 2 apple.

This time, from KB, try feeding it 1 berry (to knock off the pineapple), then follow by the 2 plums. If my assumption is right, you should see your 1st feather proc on the 1st plum.

My brain...kind of hurts. So. I've recently gotten my choco to rank 10, and got the dragoon armor, so now I REALLY want currant purple chocobo. I started from shale brown and jumped to gloom purple, to shadow blue, to deepwood green. And according to this link, one plum might have taken me from deepwood green to currant purple. Unfortunately it pushed me all the way to morbol green. And according to this calculator, I need 1 berry, 1 valfruit, and 4 apples. I did that, so we'll see what I get next...

Wish I could have gotten a reply sooner, I'd already fed it a single plum and got a feather proc.

Probably stuck me back in the loop, should I feed it the berry and plum at this point or what?

Is there a way to cancel the change, and "redo" this round of feeding? There's still several hours left until it changes.

Yes, you can reset, just take the bird out of the stable, but you don't need to since as long as you are still in the same 6 hrs, you can still feed it the berry to knock off the pineapple.

So since I fed a plum already, I should feed it one berry and then a final plum?

Yeah, the color map was based on the old single fruit feeding until feather proc method, when we didn't know as much and that was the best method we had at that time. After figuring out the microfeeding method we pretty much trashed all of that out and directly work with the RGB value of any given in game color.

The color map method still works, just that there are way too many traps and it isn't designed to do direct color to color adjustments.

sigh, so I have to reset it then, since I fed it a plum too

and I still don't know what to feed this piece of crap.

I reset it, fed 1 berry 2 plums, procced on every single feed.

At this point I'm sure I'm positively screwed and am never going to get Soot Black in this situation. It's a goddamn joke and I'm honestly tired of dealing with this system, I am at the point that playing this game is no longer fun because every single time I log in it's to immediate disappointment.

6 hours from now I'm positive all I will have to report is that I'm still stuck in this **** loop, and will be resetting it to default. I don't give a crap anymore. I'm done with this run around. After that, I'll attempt to use the "reach soot black from default feed order" and when that inevitably fails I'll only wish I could kill this worthless bird because that's how done I'll be with the chocobos in this game.

The chocobo colour calculator says I should go (3pineapples, 3plums, 4valfruit) for the original RGB scale, and (3plums, 4pineapples, 5valfruit) for the updated RGB scale. Which one should I do...unless you know of another way to get there that has a higher chance of me actually getting to currant purple? And what order should I feed the fruits? :x Sorry to be bothersome.

Awesome! So I did what you said, and at first I got Grape Purple from that, then used the calculator one last time and it said 1pear and 1 berry, so I did that and got Currant Purple. Woot! Thanks so much for the help! :D

I'm very confused at this point. I had celeste green and wanted to go to corpse blue. I followed the calculator and ended up with apple green. I tried again and apple green became sky blue. Tried again...sky blue is now meadow green. Far as I could tell unless I was reading the spreadsheet wrong, I didn't need to break into smaller feeding sets.

I'm experimenting with the choco a bit too and i managed to get mine to cactuar green but i'm looking for Ochu green. I tried following OP method and i came up with this results:

From Cactuar Green to Ochu Green:

I'm tryin to help a friend too to get to soot black from pumpkin orange, i came up with this:

I'm not sure tho, so can anyone check if i made them right?
