One Year - Thank You for this game!

I was hoping a thread like this existed and one does, so here is my thank you to Yoshi-P and the entire FFXIV team for doing such a wonderful job with this game! You have given us so much in such a short amount of time; I was completely stunned and blown away by it all.

Thank you, so much, for doing such wonderful work with this game. I look forward to further patches, expansions and great fun times! You guys are wonderful! <3 <3 <3

Looking at the story, and all the developments made since the start of ARR, I'm really happy to say I'm still playing this game, and will be into the future. It's been a fun and interesting year.

A big thank you to everyone who made the advent of ARR possible, and to the devs again for working so hard on improving and expanding on the game as it is now.

Wow amazing that I've played this game for almost a year. I just love these events. Looking forward to next year!

I remember jealously foaming at the mouth when closed invites for phase 1 of 1.0 beta went out.
I remember building my first serious gaming computer when open beta for 1.0 was made available.
I remember my first steps out of Gridania as a wee little CNJ, and feeling like this dark, mysterious world was so vast and full of so much wonder.
I remember defending this game to all my friends as they bounced from WoW to Aion to Rift to SWToR to GWII. I loved XIV.
I remember when things got sticky. When Tanaka was replaced with the "new team". When Balmung became Besaid. When rumors of a shutdown were rampant. I stuck it out.
I remember finally getting my chocobo. Spamming Thousand Maws.
The chocobo escorts. The grind for darklight. Shouting for Iffy parties. Trudging through a sea of retainers blindly looking for something.
4 years ago.
And I'm glad I'm still here.

Wow, it seems like yesterday when everyone was wearing darklight/af and every other day there were post of people threatening to leave

Wow, this rising event was absolutely beautiful... i know i complain a lot, but i must say that i truly enjoy this game, and even the 1.0 version (never played it, but for story purposes see it all on youtube).

Have to say i was truly imersed in the last days of patch 1.23b, that music, that atmosphere, it makes me wish i was part of all that. To see this version of answers back makes me a happy man =P, never will leave Eorzea as long as she exists. Thank you very much for this game, Yoshi and everyone involved in it.

Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary.

The Rebirth of the Realm was a great success (despite the initial labor pangs) and I am enjoying my time in this game world very much.

Keep up the good work as I look forward to another year of adventuring, crafting, exploring and assisting the citizens of Eorzea and the realm as a whole.

(caveat): My 1 complaint is that it is still very difficult for friends/family to join me on my World (Excalibur) so I hope you can find a way to address this issue.

Happy birthday FFXIV!!! It's been a great year here. I'm looking forward to many more years. I picked up this game a few days after launch when I saw my brother playing it on his PS3. I have since upgraded to a PS4 and haven't looked back. I can't wait to see what this next year brings for me. Thank you so much to Yoshi P and the whole dev team for creating this amazing game and allowing me to make so many new friends in this new and wonderful world.

I've been here since the second phase of the beta for 1.0. To see how the game changed since then to what we have now with all the ups and downs has been a truly unique experience. Even now the game has flaws and kinks that need to be ironed out, but I'd be lying if I said it was not a good game or a worthy addition to the FF series.

Now the the bulk of the rush is done with in a matter of speaking (no having to rebuild a game from scratch), I look forward to seeing what the future has in store. I really hope the game will last as long as its predecessor and that we can look back during FFXIV's 5th, 10th and 15th anniversaries with fond memories in our hearts while still enjoying the game.

Thanks to all the dev team for making (or remaking in a sense) this game and to the community members that strive to make the game world enjoyable and alive for the other players.
It's been an excellent year with many great additions to the game and I look forward to seeing all the new and wonderful things that will be coming in the next year.

Up until I got to ARR I just completed all trophies for a game and got another, jumped from one game to another in couple of weeks just hunting trophies.
Feels weird that I basically haven't played anything else for about year now and don't really plan to get any new games. Maybe it's because of my fc too :)

When I started playing I never imagined I would still be doing so a year after. I tend to be very picky when it comes to MMOs. Over the years I've tried a lot of them but only 2 before this kept my attention for much more than a week. For that reason I can safely say that as long as the game is alive and kicking I'll be here enjoying it. Deciding to completely rebuild a game after it had failed is a crazy idea on its own. Doing so and making a success out of it is just amazing.

So thank you, Yoshi-P and everyone else on the team for making it possible for us to celebrate the 1st anniversary of ARR! May there be many more to come. :)

The Minstrel's quest, and the cutscene he gave, was surprisingly touching. :) Especially given that we know he's Yoshi-P's goofy author insert.

Chiming in on the thanks. This is one of those games were now and then you really feel the love that goes into it, and damn does it feel good.

Also, I'm buying like 10 stacks of Realm Reborn Red to put in my FC vault because that animation is amazing.

AH, i remember the day i was staring at that play button...waiting for it to light up. Good times. i do like the game but it's very hard coming back after a break.

Game turned out better then i thought it would. It goes to show a Game company can learn from mistakes by listening to at least the mature side of the playerbase.

Now only if CAPCOM could follow in your footsteps..

I just wanted to say I'm really glad that SE is taking actions against RMT. It's been my experience that not many MMO staff care enough to do something about it.

As I said during the 14 hour broadcast, thank you, the developers and your team members, for taking on the monumental task of saving Eorzea. Thank you, SquareEnix, for giving the chance over to Yoshida and gang to do so - for not placing the game 6 feet under like other gaming companies would have done. Those of us who stuck it out in 1.0 knew there had been plenty of potential and really hoped that potential would come to fruition. You all did it and made it a wonderful game. Yoshida~san and team - continue to be proud and work that magic for and within Eorzea. I look forward to continuously throwing my money at you guys (through subscription! I mean subscription!!)

Pre-1st year in Eorzea and I'm loving it. Just wish they would introduce more on Character Customization and do something about those Money spammers.

But overall, I'm LOVING this game.

Everyone's done an amazing job, but I would especially like to thank Soken for crafting some of the best game music ever (in my opinion). In many places it fades into the environment really well, and you don't really notice it at all until you play with no sound. Been listening to the ARR soundtrack almost non-stop the past weeks while commuting to and from work :)

(That's not to say Uematsu's soundtrack for 1.0 wasn't good, but I feel Soken's music fits better.)

I really want to thank the people who take action against RMT too. I was amazed how well they take care of the servers :D

I really love this game, and I regret my initial reactions of annoyance towards it when it first came out, especially accusing a good friend of planning on leaving me alone in another game to play this. Ironically, I ended up ditching that other game and that friend to play this, but I got him to play with me. I only started in October of 2013 after doing some research on a new MMO to play and this looked the best, and P2P. I took a long break due to having a bad computer in November of 2013, but started playing again over the summer, after buying into the Wildstar hype and buying and playing that, only to leave a week after release for this.

I think I've had a funny love-hate relationship with this game, especially since it ended in love. The devs are wonderful and I love Soken's music so much, it's the best music I've heard in an MMO since Ragnarok Online - this is the only game I've played in the past 6 years where I've just listen to the music while playing.

I also wanted to say, even though I don't agree with all the decisions made so far, you have truly transformed "Final Fantasy XIV" in ARR / 2.0+ into something I never thought could be saved (during 1.0 launch).

You have made a beautiful, gorgeous world, with Landmarks and interesting elements (instead of the 1.0 Copy & Paste landscape), more interesting creatures around, a much better Newbie experience (starting the game --> 50), and solid UI Design / Polish, etc. :) So,

Together, we have finally come to a year in this game with many uncountable memories with friends, the community, the characters we created, and the events that took place in the world of Eorzea. We have experience the positive and the negative; we all of whom have lost a dear friend - ones who may have quit the game or perhaps took a break; however, we stood by and encourage ourselves to continue forth our adventures and adapt to these circumstances. We strive for the good of this game and endured the difficulties, thus we still stand.

It's been over a year now since I've played this game, I remember playing in Beta Phase 3 on PS3 back then. It was my first time ever playing an MMO before, and had no idea what a Gladiator was supposed to do, but I slowly learned.

This screenshot was taken from my PS3 not long after beginning to create my FC on September 1st 2013 when I was still a Gladiator, and still had a long way to go.

I've met a lot of people in this game, and some very close friends. I've had my moments of frustration and of joy, laughing and crying, this game and this world mean a lot to me.

Thank you Yoshida and everyone out there in Eorzea, I'm looking forward to the years ahead through the future patches and expansions to see what the future holds for me.

Although I did play back in 1.0 I rarely had a chance to with work and such like, but thanks to a good friend for introducing me to ARR after they had played the alpha & beta - and have a legacy character as well. (I sadly don't since I now live in Europe and not within the UK and with the IP restrictions yeah..)

That aside though I do not regret coming to this game, or the fact I am ridiculously addicted to it.
