It makes me laugh that people are going so crazy over these hunts for the sands and oils of time when the high allagan gear is still the best in slot. I would rather devote my time to working through the second coil then deal with the angry mob.

I agree however if people don't have crazy devoted FC's to do that kinda stuff but they want the gear this is the alternative. But the alternative is mindless drivel that's making everything redundant. Ramuh is pointless now. Why even do it? Bragging rights? Nobody cares anymore. Hunts need to be nerfed bad. And soon.
I know ppl who've been clearing T6-T9 regularly and are still stuck on 1-2 pieces of loot. With the weekly lockout and RNG, SCoB by itself is not a reliable way to gear up. Hunts provide a good alternative route - the current implementation of them however needs to be fixed. Also, I'm pretty sure that some of the upgraded soldiery gear is actually BiS over High Allagan, similar to how some myth gear used to be BiS vs Allagan Gear back during the i90 days.
2nd week with Naul as elite and I yet to be able to get full credit. Lucky if I get 1 seal. Quite a waste of my time considering it seems there are players who seem to know where he spawns. God forbid if I find him first (if I get lucky) and start wailing on him to try and get my full credit, others would get nasty even though they have been doing it themselves.
It is absurd that se impose weekly limit on 115 & 110 (scob & soldiery) and even 100 (syrcus) but let the hunt unlimited! Odin & behemoth fates are just similar to the hunt, but even worse, it just destroy the atmosphere by giving out not just vanity gear!
I joined a hunting party for the first time tonight. I actually had a ton of fun.. Sure we didn't get to every mob before it was destroyed and I probably didn't get full credit on even one of them. At the end of the night I got a pretty good amount of seals and tomestones and that was more than enough for me. Of course, no one threatened to kill anyone over pulling a mob early or anything.. A little bit of butt hurt but otherwise a fairly amicable group.
It is not the Hunting feature ruining all, it is the behavior of some community, whose hunting have triggered their best of. A zerg made of raging kids.
Rest assured then someone claims they have been forced to use radar app and all fault is on SE.
Only down side for me is, whenever I'm doing something else, and see my hunt ls say this or that spawn, I'm like wish m not doing what m doing the moment, and be on that hunt. In a way it reduce my overall willingness to do anything else in game (help ppl, enjoy the game etc)
Honestly, I'm starting to get very frustrated with these hunts. It seems the only people on my server being rewarded are the people who cheat. Everyone else gets screwed.
I'm about 98% sure there is an FC that is using the cheating app to locate all of the monsters (though I have no proof). Their FC members are somehow at EVERY single monster spawn point, pulling them immediately, getting full credit. I've seen about 20+ of their members running around in 3-4 pieces of upgraded gear. After a week, I have barely 170 seals.
A lot of people have put in the time to figure out the spawn times for mobs. It may seem like some are using an app but really they've just learned how to find mobs better. Going by what I've heard the app isn't as it's made out to be. Currently people use a more sound legitimate method of tracking. I will tell you what my static mate mentioned.." You just have to accept that you will not make all of the hunts."
Also I believe that if you're not particularly in an LS or know people running them then it's much harder to get to them.
I'm starting to get worried. My FC, which was previously a nearly constant source of conversation and impromptu collaborative events, has gone dead silent since 2.3 hit. The reason is hunts. That's all people are focused on right now.
inb4 thread deleted: Yes, Hunts have indeed broken the game wide open. I haven't even logged in for nearly a week because I can't stand the way the game is right now.
I actually belong to two LS's that have changed their focus strictly to hunts. Granted, one is a brand new LS, but the other has over 50+ people in it. I literally drop what I'm doing, immediately port to the location they call out, and the monster's dead when I get there. This happens roughly 90% of the time, on all three ranks.
A friend suggested placing a cap on allied seals a week. Like everything else, has a cap..find no problem with that. I'm sure it will be fixed up soon, we will see.
There should have been a cap to begin with. The cap should have been 750, since that is what one Sands costs. That way the cheaters and people who play for 13 hours a day can get their zerging done early in the week, leaving the rest of us to the monsters later in the week.
Yeah that HP increase did nothing to cover the boo boo that is hunting. I don't have much credit either so I'm in a similar situation. It does suck :\ Do you go looking whenever you can or is it when you get off work? On my server it gets really bad about the time I get off work.
It's all about the reward. Why waste my time doing a fight which only rewards ilvl100 gear when I can do something easier that rewards ilvl110 gear? There is a reason so many people are complaining that there is no lockout on the hunt rewards. If SE had been smart and waited until 2.4 to release the hunts system it would be an entirely different story.
1) Hardcore raiders would be more interested in the TCoB so they most likely wouldn't bother with hunts'
2) Casual players would begin doing hunts to get their ilvl110 gear to upgrade from i100 (they get their own form of progression so both groups get progression).
Why can people not see this. People say casuals get stuff in odd patches and raiders get stuff in even patches..but in reality casuals get stuff every patch and raiders only get content every other patch.
Yeah, I do randomly run around on my mount looking. Found one monster myself. Luckily there was only two other people there, so I got full credit (I think 5 seals).
But yes, I work 8:30-5pm so by the time I get home, it's the busy time when everyone else is on. Oh well, I guess all I can hope is that it dies down so other people can get an opportunity.
yeah hunsts would have been better in 2.4
Third bahamut turn > new gear for raiders
Ninja job > yay!
Hunts / Second coil on DF (echo) and Soldiery gear (4k cap) for non raiders
shiva > ilvl 115 weapons? :S
new dungeon + 2 HM probably
It was a little different in this case, though. In the even numbered patches, the casuals are supposed to get better access to the stuff the raiders had been working on since the previous even numbered patch. In 2.3, casuals are getting that stuff one patch early.
So what you say is absolutely true. Hunts should not have been released until 2.4. From what Yoshi said in that recent Dengeki interview, hunts were not originally part of the planned content. They were added because they believed there was a demand for it (and there was). But they obviously didn't put enough thought into how to put it into the game before they released it.
I joined a large community of hunters on Excalibur. There were at least 100+ of us finding marks, waiting a good amount of time to get there and killing them. Was very surprised at everyone being so respectful and I gained almost 800 marks and a hunting log drop just last night. I encourage other servers to build something similar, it seems like it works great. All they ask is you be respectful and don't pull early, and just gain high threat because that's what gets you max rewards from the hunt not damage.
This is entirely within the realm of reason, that after the cowboyness of last week hunt slaughter that people could instead of wasting time fighting each other, things could stabilize and organize themselves into units to maximize hunting potential.
It greatly depends on the server of course but that is a possible outcome.
I just told my brother that they were and then I saw this thread. Here's the thing, if you give casuals an easy way to get "hardcore items" then the hardcore players are just going to monopolize it. It was a great idea but terrible in practice.
Is a completely optional thing ruining my game? No. I have decided to wait on hunts until after the hype rush like atma. Im still trying to get thru t5 and moogle ex. Hunts can wait.
Besides therell be more room for me once the great hunt ragequit happens.
I just want a training dummy so I've ignored hunts completely save for the first couple of hours I tried to do them.
That's the funniest part about this whole thing. A guy in my static basically refuses to do any of the other new content now as well because it "doesn't offer as good as rewards as hunts do" or some nonsense. Super irritating because it's become hard to get anyone together to do things like Ramuh.
As long as they do their stuff, hunting 24/7, I don't mind at all, it's their game time.
But respect goes both ways - Don't bash anyone because they happened to be at one spot before you.
a Hunt is a game, let every players the opportunity to kill, no provoke and reset, play the game fairly, and all is good.
Nope, it's the people that are ruining the game for others, not for me of course, I don't give a damn if someone blocks me for pulling before their whole LS got there, besides, tears are sweet.
