The phrase "casting lots" sounds stupid even when not in regards to this game. I refuse to ever use it.

Was it "casting lots"? My bad, either way, it's been in the game a long time.

I assumed the "cast lots" auto translate carried over from FFXI

Ya know, why is "lotting" the shortened version of "casting lots?" Lot isn't even a verb, shouldn't it be called "casting?"

They're not really "randomly picking terms". Outside of the MMO world, "casting lots" and "rolling dice" are literally the same thing. People pick up habits from previous games they've played in terms of terminology they use. Both of these are equally valid, one is just less common than the other.
