Ew...I'm female and that just makes me cringe.

This entire thread disturbs me.
Personally I think city-state attire should vary, considering Ul'dah and LL and Gridania are different parts of the world there should be more variety and certain trend styles that fit each part of the world. Uldah should have desert attire ranging from the middle east style of dress to other desert type gear (Mad Max anyone. Talking about armor obviously but adding town gear would be nice too). LL would be Naval attire/ swashbuckling gear and Gridania well woods/forest gear. I think by incorporating the design based on region and culture of those areas would probably please everyone and add more options because it does kind of suck running around looking like everyone else all the time. Some diversity would be nice once in awhile.
I see your Listy and raise you an Echidna and her daring and probably a little bit deadly fashion sense.Quote:

Still I kind of like this idea. Maybe have a regional craft services to make sure the items can only be made in that area.
I'm for wearing nothing... :D
Yes... we need to punt our lalafell midgets sometime soon.
One man's slut is another man's eloquence and vice-versa.
That would be cool too.
As a real life female, born that way lol, I would like some "flashier" mage gear. You can find sexy gear if you go to a dd job, but for mages there is boring, I dont even want sexy I want something better than ho hum mage gear. Not everyone who plays a mage in this game wanted to look like a blm :/
I wish we could get a second set of equipment for vanity gear that could only be CRAFTED. Im sure that would give crafters some money for the stuff they make
I'd kind of like less sexy apparel. ): I mean, as far as the coatee sets go, that's a bit...too much. I'd like, as a female, to be able to dress up in a nice dapper feminine suit like the male coatee set. Why must everything be 'tits or gtfo' with the designs?
You can be sexy without the miniskirts.
so many I want this I want that, show some sketches peeps! come on!
I really don't want or need to get tarted up for a night on the Ul'dah merchant strip.
And if I see armored heels in this game, someone is gonna die. Slowly.
As an adventurer (really just a nice word for mercenary) I want gear made with killing in mind; not gold digging. If people want a few costumes or something to wear around town, then whatever. For serious gear options though, let's keep it all practical. Fighting in skirts and bikinis is a joke.
I personally think that the current heavy armor is fine for females (a chainmail skirt with pants underneath may be a nice touch for female characters). But I do think that some of the cloth armor could be a bit sexier.
Now I do not mean bikini style clothing, I just mean maybe just some dresses instead of robes some skirts (to the knees) instead of pants. A bit of sexy, but none of the skimpy, boobs everywhere stuff. Because, really heavy armor is mostly about function, but cloth armor is basically clothing, and I'm sure a female character may very well like to wear something that would look nice from time to time.
So you want colored trim and designs, maybe trinkets and such attached to your clothing, and a big pointy hat that says wizzard. That would be nice.
Oscillate Wildly, that's one of the things I was trying to get at in my OP, but not conveying the point well enough it seems. To me there's a difference between sexy and slutty (showing lots of skin). But as a guy, tits are nice too.
Remnant wolf, you just gave me an idea, what if more sexy armor or items had protection ranges that fell in between normal armor and attire? For example an armored chest piece that a part the midriff area has normal clothing instead of armor; give it 70% of the difference between a full armor piece and a normal clothing piece. Notice I mentioned it being cloth instead of bare skin.
Ah, I see. I understand. Something form-fitting then? I'd like to see more feminine versions of pre-existing equipment.
Take for example the current robes. or gowns? If for women they could raise the hemline from the ankles to the knees, and making them poofier, that'd be really sweet. Mage hats with big feathers coming out of the base, and dangley bits of chain on the sleeves.

Something shorter like this, as a rough sketch of what I'm talking about.
Something girly and sweet, a variety for females and males alike. ): So not to seem gender biased. I'm certain many men are find with their robes the way they are, but all the same I bet there are a few out there who would like a more masculine looking mage.
I will have to say that fighting in skirts and bikinis for Miqote is not a bad thing because of mobility. Fits the race they are cat like in not only looks, not really known for strength but their dexterity and agility. Even though I do agree a Gladiator shouldn't be wearing a bikini it just doesn't bode well.
I kinda enjoyed PVPing in my prom dress in Aion...NOT...
But I don't mind good looking attire with defense 0. (Sunday dress)
Why does reality even factor in to the discussion of armor when we shoot fireballs, raise from the dead, and instantly teleport to places. If that's okay why can't a piece of armor that doesn't cover every single flesh area of a body be magically imbued to extend a protective aura?
Reality and fantasy/sci fi mmorpgs shoudln't even be in the same sentence.
So what is it. Too puritan for some basic human nature?
I'm sorta hoping this is a joke really. This game really doesn't need to have women running around in the most perverse clothes one can imagine. I say this and I'm a guy myself. I used to wear subligar with my Miqo'te when playing Archer just for the hell of it. But recently I switched to a pair of kecks and I have to say I think it looks so much better. Much of the "attire" in this game is revealing enough (Coatees, Subligar, Loyalist Briault, Shirts with the open fronts, harnesses, etc.) that doesn't really require anything else. That said there are a FEW things I'd like to see namely being:
* Bikinis (Thongs no thanks)
* Actual shorts without the stockings added, maybe a little longer to just above the knee.
* Kimomos or Yukatas (I want my Yukata damnit!)
* Dresses (Formal long dresses)
Stuff like the above I listed. A one/two piece bikini would be nice, I'm an RPer and when you visit the beach it seems sort of odd to be running around in your skivvies because Eorzea lacks a bikini selection. Another thing is varying underwear styles. I like the pantalletes Miqo'te have but I'd almost prefer the Hyur female breastcloth or the frilly undershirt that Lalafell females wear.
The current gear options are serious and it's not like Itagaki is going to take over development over this thread and make the game into FFXIV Beach Volleyball. Serious armor choices will continue to come in, it just seems some people want some "sexier" options which is entirely subjective anyway.
Also it doesn't have to be armor. They could add in purely cosmetic clothing for stuff like this too.
I didn't think it could get creepier. You sure proved me wrong.
....slow clap..
